Oh Forgot to mention another disappointment......GTAuto is still crap. For gawds sake PD let us SKIP the awful oil animation or at least let us quickly change oil in a quicker menu. This was a UI change I was hoping for yet it didn't happen.

People are fed up. GTs problem is that it was TOO good in the past (hardware limitations taken into account)....for MANY GT5 has gone backwards and BADLY backwards.

There's a definite immature attitude here that complaining about GT5 is not to be permitted and anyone who does complain get's severely bashed and flamed. From my personal experience the apologists were nasty from the get go, and that further inflamed an already volatile discussion.

The apologist should just try and emphathise with the complainers and realise that most (I admit, not all) complaints if rectified would only make GT5 a MUCH better game and more in line with the previous great GTs.
As I said, the problem is not complaining, is how people complain.
But you can keep with your opinion, I don't care, you have eyes to see the reality so...take your own conclusions ;)
I know that, for example, A-Spec is worse than GT4's, but so what? I give my feedback, discuss a bit, and move on...

In general, I like the new update however I do have 1 gripe. In the online lobby settings, you can now choose NASCAR, Super Gt, Lamborghini, etc. Problem is, you can't restrict further from there (with the exception of "no tuning allowed"). What if I want to run 720pp lmps? A Shelby 350 will not keep up with a 454 without other restrictions. This makes that option pointless as with it on the cars aren't even and with it off people can sneak cars in that aren't "in class". What's to keep it from being a grid of the fastest car over and over? Slight restrictions allows a Audi r10 to keep up with an Audi r8 '01 for example.

Love the rest of the update, but upset as this was the feature I was looking forward to.

Really? Complaining about having to wait a few seconds to change your oil? You really need to go outside.

But it's pointless! You will see it hundreds of times and every time you see it you just wish 'oh I'd sure like to skip this pointless feature'.

You pretty much nailed it. My single biggest gripe with GT5.

👍

I think the same thing can be said about the "create thumbnail" option and why PD created the "All" option. That time builds up and by then it just gets tedious. That's why I stopped changing oil immediately after buying cars.

GT3 had it right. It was so quick and easy. Same goes for the car wash.

Im not dissatisfied but I am disappointed to not see more effort on standard cars. Let us change the wheels and please let us get more aero parts, cars like the Supra are very popular in tuning (just look at all the super gt cars), yet a supra rz cant change wheels or get front and rear aero parts!?
There are other standard cars like that as well.

Other than that Im happy with what Ive seen so far (though skipping the oil change wouldnt be bad).

I am. Of coming to a fan site and reading through all this BS. It was ok the first time round. But this constant bitching is the same for a full year now.

I simply can't hear it anymore and wish people would either move on or contribute something useful.

Mate, you are reading a GT Spec II disappointment thread. Look elsewhere for the good vibes you crave! 👍

Hold on...
One of the most expensive PS3 games, also one of the most sold titles in PS3... and i should be thinking if this "2.0" is free or not?

Lets face it, its an unfinished product with several flaws of sharp and content. The last update looks more a "wip beta" than a revamp evolution or something. Plus, the DLC is not even close from amusing, maybe the only amused here is the Microsoft, witch is probably laughing right now.

This. QFT +1 👍

I'm happy for the most part but one thing I've noticed is the halving of loading times... sounds awesome except they've put the other half that was reduced on to the drivers list screen! It's not a reduced loading time at all, just halved & 2nd half relocated!

Also, I know it would have taken a lot of effort to do all standard car interiors but maybe they could have taken a bunch of standards & made them premium & change the rest as they are now? then of course in the next update(s) they can work on the remainder until all are premium?

Just a thought.

They have actually cleaned up the standard a lot, however I agree with you I hope we can change the standard cars wheels. 👍

You start thinking it looks better (i think the car shadows are much less flickery, at least the ones on the road are, and tail lights are a proper brightness, etc) and then you drive a black Sprinter Trueno ae86 on the Eiger rally stage, and the complete mess which is the dirt on that car after a few laps really brings you back to earth with a crash. I urge you to see for yourselves, I can not overstate how rubbish it looks. It's like a 70s two tone paint job masked off by Edward Scissor Hands. Jaggedy, patchy, ridiculous.

W.I.P is a generous term sometimes, because it suggests that they care, and when you see things like this you think: Surely nobody cared enough to check this.

Really? Complaining about having to wait a few seconds to change your oil? You really need to go outside.

I am very on board with the get rid of oil change animation... it was clever and cute the first few times we saw it... but that was LONG ago... now it's just pointless and just long enough to be annoying but not long enough to be able to go do something else in the meantime... it's the worst kind of wasted time, it's forced wasted time.

If it took 15 minutes like a real oil change that would be lame but at least I really COULD go outside or make a snack or something while it was happening.

But as it is I can't even get up and go to the other room before it's over so it's something you pretty much have to sit through.

And sure it's only about 10 seconds but I have 400 cars.... that's 4000 seconds of oil changing... that's about 67 minutes I am going to have to spend watching a guy roll under a car just to change the oil in my cars ONCE.

Those who have a thousand or more cars... eeeesh....

Leave the animation in for sure because it's nice occasionally, but give us a button in the shop menu to just click and oil got changed... there is improving the ambience and there is just a hassle in gameplay... at this point the oil change animation is no more useful than a loading screen... that's all it's become is a defacto loading screen at this point, as if the game needs to load an oil change. Serves no purpose but to create a loading delay where one is not needed.

some standard cars have a lot better interior then others my 2j race car has a good interior but the nissan r92cp has a plain black interior hopefully they will fix them all cant wait for the dlc next week

Wheu replying to a post from page 2. :D

But, they aren't going to "fix" the plain black interiors because that's what they said we were getting. The only reason open top cars (like your 2J) don't have the plain black interior is because the interior was already (somewhat) modeled.

Yes more nascar is a disappointment but things could be worse..
Only real problem for me is that they haven't fixed the problem with BGM freezing the game..

Yep the arguments around here are pretty useless and negative, if I hated a game that much I would moved on long time ago instead of this persistent bit^ching

I get the feeling that if PD sent in hookers and booze along with the update to everyone, some folks would still complain.

It says something when Neogaf has more ardent GT support than GTplanet itself.

No disrespect to Jordan, scaff and the superb moderators here but the quality of this site has taken a hit.

you're both fools. I do not HATE the game, I hate the direction it's gone in and I'm disappointed that PD have not fixed issues that people dislike. Try developing some empathy and stop being selfish.

So how exactly are we "supposed" to complain then? Why don't you lay out the criteria for acceptable complaints?

You admit you realise Aspec is worse......so you also can see that despite CONSTANT patches and a SPEC 2.0 update PD have done NOTHING to improve it. So what on earth are we supposed to do when the company seemingly refuses to accept that a core part of the game is hugely flawed?

Yes, people got used to tonnes and tonnes of cars all in great detail and graphics so people thought:
"600 cars with great graphics for PS1's standards, 800 cars with great graphics for PS2's standards will mean GT5 will have 1000 cars with great graphics for PS3's standards, right?"
And the answer is no because there is a much, much, much bigger leap from PS2 to PS3 than from PS1 to PS2.

The fact of the matter is PD worked much better on older gen consoles and really used them well, thus they managed in spoiling the community.
They (PD) have pretty much overestimated theirselves and their programming abilities (I mean come on, they can't even implement a FF/RWD function properly due to their lack of knowledge of programming on PS3) - 1000 cars on PS3 in P detail? Never going to happen (if PD doesn't learn to improve their productiveness).

My final thoughts? GT5 Spec II is the best we're getting from GT5. GT5 went from a big dissapointment, to an awesome game in 1 year, taking a few big steps along the way. Spec II is the best we'll see from GT5 which is good - they should focus on GT6 or more DLC.
I don't have any complaints and I find Spec II perfect and I found GT5 great even before Spec II.

I wouldn't accuse Polyphony of lacking ps3 programming. Their nearest competition can only dream of doing things PD does on a console. The models, lighting and shaders are unmatched this gen.

If you expect 1000 cars to premium quality it will take the size of 4 fulli sized PD staff. It's just alot of work.

Exactly, we WANT GT to be better because we love the series. There are plenty of games I've played that I thought were rubbish, put them down and moved on. The fact GT5 is still floating around my PS3 and i'm on these forums is that I love the game series and want to see it improve. Adding negative feedback can only help that.

A forum full of nothing but praise helps nobody. Do you think we'd have so many updates if everyone just sat back after launch and said "yep, this is great, thanks.".

I'll start off with saying that I love GT5.

Well, they can't implement a simple function such as replay controls due to what? They programmed the replay in such way that in order to FF/RWD you'd need 2x the processing power of PS3 in order to manipulate the game's physics engine.
And that's what they said (regarding 1000 cars), not me.
PD said that GT5 will have 1000 cars, then we got GT5:P and then they say GT5 will have standards which "only won't have interiors". People thought (including me): "Ah, ok *thinks of Nissan GT-R Concept '05*". Then we heard that standards will have less polygons and only after GT5's released did we find out that they're blatent PS2 ports.
They overestimated their programming skills and it's a fact.

*knocks on wood* But the most important thing is that their physics engine is unmatched on consoles and car characteristics is on par (if not better) than PC sims.

But why didn't PD employ more 3d modellers and at least do 500 or so premiums? The GT series is such a HUGE franchise for Sony, it's a console shifter and massively prestigious. Money should have been thrown at PD and GT5 to make it utterly brilliant. 20%-40% of the game is just that, but the rest is half arsed, standard cars, many tracks just GT4 ports in HD, Aspec just a pathetic shadow of the other GTs (bar the 1st game).

Feedback is important but complaining over a free update is pretty stupid. You will not see every game having a gig of free update after 1yr of release, it is rare.

It's gone beyond constructive criticism now. It's now complaining for complaining's sake.

And suprise suprise it's the same people again and again. To some people it makes no difference. This is not about a game anymore. some people are just debbie downers and depressed by nature. No amount of updates or patches or positivity is going to change that.

If i were kaz, i would simply roll my eyes and just move on. Is it any suprise why PD does not even send any sort of CM in here on this supposed biggest GT fan site?

Sometimes i really feel for kaz and PD. A really massive update after a year with spa added as DLC and some people are just not even happy. No thanks. No gratitude. Nothing. Just complaints and whinging. It would be so easy for kaz to say **** this and move on. But he's too nice a man to do that.

Kaz, a message for you. It's wasted on some people. I guess it depends on your outlook on life. If moan and whinge alot on GT then chances are you do so in real life too, But that's my opinion anyways. No disrespect to anyone

Not an dissapointment but is PD kidding us with the "shortened" loading times? :)

Yeah the track loads up very fast now but then it took up to 30 seconds to load the AI cars.
