20%-40% of the game is just that, but the rest is half arsed, standard cars, many tracks just GT4 ports in HD, Aspec just a pathetic shadow of the other GTs (bar the 1st game).

And even so the 1st was challenging in some parts. GT5's A-Spec really isn't.

Speaking of which, I still find GT1 to be the best. Mainly because, in my honest opinion, I can't find any flaws with it myself compared to the others (challenge is not always a flaw, since it tends to make it more fun). GT2 had a stupid race system, GT3 didn't have enough cars, GT4 was if anything almost too diverse and long to completely finish (and get the best challenge out of), and GT5 still has flaws all over the shelf (ie disorganised A-Spec, odd Standard get system and the track-creator-but-not-a-track-'creator').

Feedback is important but complaining over a free update is pretty stupid. You will not see every game having a gig of free update after 1yr of release, it is rare.

You keep saying that but it doesn't make it any more true. Also I just said WHY they're giving you a 1gb update, because of feedback and the fact Kaz himself didn't believe the game was finished.

Also, people seem to forget:
Seasonal Event races are now considered as part of the A-spec, so please stop with the "not enough events".

Not by me they're not. But even if there were, they don't add up to the 500 odd races in Gran Turismo 4.

A quote of what I said on another thread;

There's still many things missing that should of been there at the start. :indiff:

- Rewind/FF (Not the sorry excuse they added in spec 2.0)
- More rims (+ ability to put them on standards)
- More tracks (lots missing from previous GT's, and some that should yet haven't been in the series at all)
- Engine swaps?
- Extended tuning, licensed tuning parts that offer slight differences in performance instead of PD's generic parts?
- Load times are still slow, and the network is still very glitchy for a lot of people
- Most engine sounds (mostly on standards) still sound terrible
- Still no way to upload/transfer replays, forced to use expensive/complicated methods of getting good quality replays onto youtube.
- Many iconic cars missing from the game, if it wasn't for 20 different skylines/rx7's/mx5's there would be more space for cars people actually want (e.g. E30, Cosworths, more TVR's, more Maserati's etc. etc.)

This is not a wish list, these are things which should not be issues a year after release.

It's gone beyond constructive criticism now. It's now complaining for complaining's sake.

And suprise suprise it's the same people again and again. To some people it makes no difference. This is not about a game anymore. some people are just debbie downers and depressed by nature. No amount of updates or patches or positivity is going to change that.

If i were kaz, i would simply roll my eyes and just move on. Is it any suprise why PD does not even send any sort of CM in here on this supposed biggest GT fan site?

Sometimes i really feel for kaz and PD. A really massive update after a year with spa added as DLC and some people are just not even happy. No thanks. No gratitude. Nothing. Just complaints and whinging. It would be so easy for kaz to say **** this and move on. But he's too nice a man to do that.

Kaz, a message for you. It's wasted on some people. I guess it depends on your outlook on life. If moan and whinge alot on GT then chances are you do so in real life too, But that's my opinion anyways. No disrespect to anyone

you are completely and utterly INCAPABLE of seeing other peoples point of views arn't you?!

I've never heard such dismissive tripe in all my life....are you a politician??

They improved the game, waaaah!

The AI is improved, waaah! Hardly worth having AI if they aren't hitting into you all the time.

The physics is improved, waaah! Hardly worth driving anymore if it's more realistic.

Loading times are reduced, waaah! Hardly worth loading the game anymore now it loads more quickly.

There's more cars, waaah....

They really should have done better. I wanted every car ever made in this update, every track ever made too. I want it free and I want it a year ago.

Oh well I guess I will just buy FM4 or whatever it's called. It's got awesome car sounds like GT1 had and the smashes look spectacular.

lol, this is entertainment. This a pretty good thread.

Edit.. Spitta I KNOW you just didnt do what I thought u just did.

Please tell me you didnt do that.

I get the feeling that if PD sent in hookers and booze along with the update to everyone, some folks would still complain.

I would for sure. If I want hookers and booze, I'll get hookers and booze. But not from Kaz. From Kaz I want a good and coherent game.

Haha that made me laugh, The lad does have a point though GT5 is just a mismatch of this that and the other things Kaz wanted mostly and didn't implement to the fullest, And very little that the community and his consumers want which is also implemented pretty shoddily, Maybe its time for SONY to put its foot down and get Kaz to buck his ideas up somewhat.

not many game companies would give a free huge update 12 months after release, they mostly focus on the next big thing they want you to buy. Having said that there could have been a few more things added but I have noticed big changes to physics, standard appearances and to the speed of the AI. I am currently 102 laps into the suzuka 1000 in the xr8, in car dash view is pretty immersive after a few laps but the rearview mirror is very crooked in this car lol, the in race saves are very good although would have been better if you could still do other races and then go back to the saved endurance. I give this update 7/10, would have given it a 10 if they added a drag strip to an existing track (how hard can it be? I bet the car manufacturers are to blame for not having drag racing due to incorrect 1/4 mile times or some such issue).

I don't think it's really necessary to back up one's arguments by stating "the majority", "most of the customers/gamers/etc", for which there is absolutely no prove at all.

If it's your opinion (shared by others) - fine. But don't feel you have to speak for me though. 👍

And you, as a "consumer" (not by any means a GT racer) what are asking for?
How have you contributed to the HUGE amount of tweaks in the driving model that has been implemented in the 2.0 spec patch?

People like you do nothing but complain....

Would be kinda cool if you could do something else while your "avatar" is stuck on a saved endurance, but in other hand, that would be also stupid being in several places at the same time.
but options are options, and in most cases, it would be better to make players do the choices.
Drag racing is useless unless it's done well, tho I believe most of Gt players would like to have 0-400, 0-1000 and top speed track back.

you're both fools. I do not HATE the game, I hate the direction it's gone in and I'm disappointed that PD have not fixed issues that people dislike. Try developing some empathy and stop being selfish.

That direction being? Don't get me wrong I crave for more expert seasonals and dearly miss the driving missions from GT4 to name just two examples. But I got over it and took full benefit of what GT5 has to offer. Some huge issues were improved with Spec2. Full day/night cycles on the two 24 hours tracks. That feature alone offers more than any console racer (save the out of date Grid). Want manufacturer races? There are 1000 of them, just head over to practice mode. I miss the classic tracks as much as the next person. I miss Motegi every time I watch an episode of BestMotoring. So what? They'll be back eventually. Or not. Who knows.

I'm not wasting such a great driving experience (running the Nürburgring in the exact same car as Kaz did this year for crying out loud) just because it's not GT4 in HD.

I even consider buying a 3D monitor because it's the first time since Magic Carpet I can play a game in stereoscopic 3D on a bleeding 300€ piece of hardware.

So take a break, step one step back, and give it a fresh start.

You know, I really understand that if you enjoy driving Nuerburg all day, youre contend with this game, Im not. If I want drive Nuerburg Ring I can go there its about 45 minutes from me or just drive around in my neighbourhood, which is pretty much the same thing... but I want to drive Talladega, Watkins Glenn, Motegi, you name it. And even more so the phantasy tracks from older GTs. Its all about variety for me and thats where 5 is strangely lacking.

I can't believe they didnt put matchmaking in or better filter options... I tried 1 hour finding a room with sport soft tires to no avail, everyone driving 500pp roadcars with racing softs! :irked:
Probably the same wise people who come in a complaints thread telling everyone to stop complaining.
I found so many bugs without even looking for them, its crazy. If youre content, fine, Im not, I seek perfection, thank you. ;)

There is an option to create your own room you know...

Make your own room, sure, I do that sometimes, it can be the best solution, but sometimes I wanna just jump in a full room and race new people.
Also we have 2011, matchmaking is a must, same as leaderboards, like it was advertised. You know.

I enjoy it for what it is, but as said so many times before, GT5 could be a much better game with a few simple tweaks, it almost seems some chaps dont want this to happen and are happy it lacks countless things from previous GTs. * shrugs *

Well, what about the coke? Huh?

Seriously though: that would be enough for me to overlook the the missing ''smash-up derby'' mode and lack of mowable pedestrians/spectators.

Guess we all have to wait for GT6 then...

I wouldn't accuse Polyphony of lacking ps3 programming. Their nearest competition can only dream of doing things PD does on a console. The models, lighting and shaders are unmatched this gen.
Sure, they've done an incredible job. But all that has taken away the focus off career mode and gameplay overall.

While doing some comparision with FM4 I figured that in reality, GT5 is the inferior of the two and I'm rather embarassed as a GT fan by that fact.

Seriously, was nobody impressed when they put interior views for all 800+ cars back in GTPSP? I was surprised they didn't do the same in GT5.... but all is well now.

not many game companies would give a free huge update 12 months after release,

In all fairness how many other games are released as unfiinshed and short of expectation as GT5 was?

Most restaraunts don't come give you a steak a week after you already finsihed eating and left... but then most restaraunts don't serve you just potatoes and beans after you ordered and paid for a steak with sides...

So while it's nice they didn't just leave us hanging, you can't just go ignoring the history of the situation either.
