GT5 - Collector's Edition

This puts an end to all my thoughts what to do with my money. I will skip Mafia2 and Test Drive Unlimited. I will get this full blown GT5 package instead.

What difference do the stealth cars have over normal versions?

I expect they are constructed using carbon fibre so are lighter and slightly faster than the originals...or is it just the 'look' that's different?

With the site stating there was a lot of interest and it might be limited (collectors edition), I decided to buy, at that time 99€ on amazon, with a lowest price guarantee.

Today the price is 69€, the lowest price guarantee states (small print): when the price is lower at the time of delivery we will reimburse the difference.

Well at least I will not have to wait till New Year for GT5, I hope!

They now have a picture for the top version, the signature edition @ EUR 179,99 :

============================
My personal idea at this moment:
1) Standard Edition 65€: the most common GT5 edition
2) Collectors edition 69€: a few extras in the game for early adopters
3) Signature edition 180€: the Collectors edition + book + model + ....

============================

This is moving too fast:

Is the SE coming to Australia? I know the EU blog only mentions AE, GB, IE, NZ as the countries, but it also states that the SLS AMG challenge will be coming to Australia, so there's a bit of discrepancy there (unless I missed something glaringly obvious)...

If it doesn't, can I preorder from UK's GAME and have it sent here? Or is there another way?

I really really want the SE.

Thank you very much for all the help 👍

Yes it is, it's even now been announced on the official Australian GT website.

Not to mention the SLS challenge/competition is only available for SE buyers.

Yes! It's coming to Australia and NZ. I think the price should be around 250AUD. Just wanna preorder it earlier :sly:

I cannot tell you how relieved I am *phew*

:D

Now I just need to wait for it to be listed in JB, EB or GAME so I can preorder ASAP 👍

I'm ineligible for the SLS challenge though (underage) :(

BTW, I noticed the Kyosho GT-R model isn't listed under the CE's bonuses anymore. Has it been cancelled?

Edit: I just noticed, but the SE does not have the 5 artcards in the CE. Unless it's included in the "coffee table" book. You can't have everything I guess. Still plenty of goodies to make me happy though :D

I'm already trying hard to assure that I will get a Signature, already in contact with a shop about it. I need this one so bad.

Just pre-ordered the signature edition from GAME.

The wait is really going to drag now, and already I'm getting a little nervous as to if I will receive it or not.

I'll just get the collector's edition since it seems it won't be much more expensive than the regular game. I wonder if the book that comes with the CE is similar to the "strategy guides" that came with GT1 and GT2.

I think I am going to import the signature edition to the US. Maybe get 2 and sell one on ebay for like $400

So am I getting this right? There is NO edition in Europe that will have the Nissan GTR model? How come our collectors edition is missing it?

As for the Signature Edition, I don't see myself being able to part with that much cash for it plus I'd probably be terrible at the SLS event thing!

I bet a third 'just post your credit card to KY' edition will apear which will probably include a special GT PS3, DFGT, PS Move, PS Eye & GT5 Signature edition. :scared:

Robin.

I think that those Special Edition cars rule out the livery editor.
Because if there would be livery editor in GT5 everybody could make those Special Edition cars themselves.

If they're like the special cars from GTPSP, they're considered different models from their stock brethren. So even if someone paints it the same and gives it the same performance stats, your's will still be the unique one. So I'm not ruling a livery editor out yet.

Pre-ordered from Game.co.uk also,And so the wait commences.

Yeah, I'm very curious about this... the chrome-line cars are cool and all, but what's going on with the Stealth ones? I want that 787B so badly.

I really don't like this modern trend of giving different regions and even different retailers different pre-order goodies. I shouldn't be limited in my content based on this, especially if I've spent the extra money for the CE (since SE won't be available here).

We need clarification for all the Stealths! Or at the very least, I'll feel better knowing they might pop up as a pack six months down the road a la GTPSP.

M3 GT,Cobra,SLS,But that 300SL looks a bit suspect...Looking forward to that book though.:)

Right so now I am going to buy x2 copies of GT5. All of them special editions! Where is the best place to get the US special edition that will ship to Australia?

There's no US special edition though . Just the CE, and the SE available to most of Europe offers more...

Noticed something very, very strange on Gamestop.ca. When the release date of GT5 was announced, they finally updated to say it was shipping on 02/11/10. Then a few weeks back they finally gave us the Collector's edition, also meant to ship on that day. So someone seems to have made a boo-boo:

GT5: Pre-order Ships 01/09/2010

Anyone an idea if the collector's edition will be available in Belgium? And or signature edition? Because Belgium, nor the Netherlands are mentionned in the Signature competition.

I think so.
Otherwise preorder over amazon.fr. They have both and the CE for only 70€. that's what i've done. Shipping is free
But i think mediamarkt, or fnac will have them

I don't understand why the EU CE doesnt have the GTR model, can someone shed some light on this?

I'm very confused as to what belongs to what. We now have 2 collector editions, and many new cars announced. (stealth models, and chrome models).

SCEE is just trying to be different from SCEA?

I am pretty positive the editions will be available in Belgium and Netherlands, competitions on the other have legal issues so thats probably the reason for no SLS competition.

Might be best to ask on the PS EU Blog in comments if you want a direct aswer.

You have an SLS model instead in the SE. i would have also preferred the GTR. And the CE is cheaper in Europe. 79.90

"competitions on the other have legal issues so thats probably the reason for no SLS competition"

that is what i don't understand in Netherlands, Luxemburg and Lichtenstein, the regulations are less strict than in France and Germany for exemple. Netherlands was in the Academy, so a big WTF from me. I will gift SCEE a map of Europe with the respective regulations on Competitions ;)
