Picked up my CE about an hour ago (way home from work, dept was let off early today).
Haven't unwrapped it yet....

Spend $110 bucks (including tax) for something that suppost to be a collectors edition. Torn bad enough it doesn't hold the game or book and the side molding glue is already messed up..Luckly the collectable car is in good condition as well as the keychain. COA #04544

I am pretty sure thats just for the Chromeline cars. I got those, but no pre-order cars. :ouch:

Correct. Sorry, didn't realize the discussion was on Stealth models.

Certainly you are in due right to ask for another!

I'd hope so lol, On phone with best buy corperate to see if I can get at least the box exchanged out..I dont want to get rid of it seeing how it is a lower number produced 4544... Now Best buy is giving me the run around, time to call back sony..least the guy said he could do something about it.

Picked up the CE today... the damn voucher for DLC was messed up such that when I pulled off the sticky piece to reveal the code, it pulled up the paper and now I can't read the code. Ugh. Called the support line and they tell me I have to FAX the receipt and voucher cards in?? fax? really? wtf sony, this is BS. I'm pretty annoyed by that but oh well.

Here's the scene...

I wake up all excited. Too excited to think about early morning lovin' (wife is probably pleased I didn't wake her up)

Smiling all the way to work. Checking GTplanet.net on my phone during my meeting, and online whilst back at my desk. (time seems to be going backward)

~quitting time!~

Rats! Rush hour.

Get home, my sons start freaking because they think I've come home with the game and are all over me. (they KNOW how looong I've been waiting for this game)

Nah, I ddidn't pick it up yet. You guys want to go with me? So, I have my two young sons at gamestop with me, who of course want to spend time looking at EVERY nintendo, DS game and ask me specific questions about each one. (all I want to do is get in line, and get my CE)

There's three people ahead of me... Ahh I'm up next. But wait...the cat in front of me is asking all sorts of crazy questions, and making small talk. So, I've never played any first person shooters, but this dude is about to get a stealth attack in the back of the head. (Oh yeah, my sons are with me.)

Finally it's my turn. ~ "I'm here to pick up my pre-orer of the GT5 Collector's Edition." The guy behind the counter asks for my phone number. I give it. He repeats it back in a jacked up, incoherent numerical order. "What???" No, no,no I SAID...###-###-####" (surely the dude must know how jazzed I am about getting this game and he's just messin' with me, right? (he's about to get a full frontal attack)

OK, so I get the game, make a mad dash out of the store and head for home. Wifey says "Can you make dinner? I have to run out real quick." (aarrrgh! Are you kidding me?) Many, many minutes later, and much chopping of avocados and tomatoes ...tacos are done. (man, I TRIED to keep it simple in the interest of time) OK, so the boys are fed, kitchen is cleaned.

I reach for the box... Carefully unwrap the packaging. Slide the top off... (angelic voices heard...) marvel at the sight before me. It's finally in my hands. I feel the weight of the keychain. I flip the pages of the APEX book, and smell the printed ink pages gently waft up to my nose. (I'm either about to pass out or cream myself) I struggled trying to get the package with the GTR out of the box. (forget it, I'll look at it later). Then I remember...

Arrgh! I forgot to get my gamestop bonus code when I picked it up! :scared:

Oh well...later for that too. For now...

Certificate #20805

The game is opened, and loading...! It's on!

ouch...

the box is a bit flimsy...

on mine, the bottom part of the spine, where it's suppose to separate and open up with a little white gap, is glued on. top is as it's suppose to be...

So, I can open it fine but not all the way...

I'm gonna see if I can separate the two pieces carefully later.

the slip case seems to be made out of sturdier, heavier paper.

can't expect much I guess... only $40 more then the standard and you get the book, keychain, and a pretty decent model.

hope Sony takes care of you on yours. I know it's a bit heart breaking...

Sticky piece?

If you are talking about the DLC voucher that is included in the game case, that isn't a sticky piece. It is a scratch off. ;)

For GT5 CE, mine was located in the plastic game case, it is a SCRATCH OFF voucher lol. Very nice cars, now all I need now is Racing: Soft Tires ($34K each)

Grabbed my CE from gamestop after work today. Honestly, I'm not too impressed with this edition. It's $40 more for a model car where the doors don't even open?? I can get a model car from the Dollar Tree with more movable parts. The APEX book's actually the most decent bit in the whole collection. The COA had a crimp on a corner. The actual game manual is just a joke. Prologue had a better manual. The keychain is scratched up (before I even touched it).

The box is OK, although the box that the car was in was a pain to open and tore slightly in the process. Oh well. Game took forever to install and load and then it was time to take the wife shopping. grrrrrrrrrr.

Overall though, I'm certainly not impressed with the CE. Well, I'll flip the voucher code and probably even the model car and hopefully make more than the difference between standard edition and CE, while still keeping the book and my scratched up keychain. And the box.

Just received my CE 5mins ago, the apex book does indeed have 200pages. 212 to be specific (UK version).

5 chapters
-Driving techniques
-Understanding car specs
-Tuning/settings
-Capturing the moment
-Track index

No car list unfortunately.

Anyone that got the CE can make the voucher code working for the 5 cars ? (not the cars for ebgames)

i tried yesterday, the release date, and it didn't work ! Anyone having problems also ??

My keychain was scratched upon opening - no biggie. Kinda a cheap keychain anyway. My wife made fun of it since it didn't even have a "5" after GT. The chromeline cars and the Apex book make the purchase worth it to me. The certificate is a gimmick since there are hundreds of thousands of CE editions and the number you get has no correlation to when you ordered. The model is nice looking - but what am I going to do with it?

Still - glad I bought it for the book and cars.
