Kaz said it but Sony hasn't. Sony said they'll tell us more details about the "gold master submission" "soon". I can't air quote """""soon""""" enough. But saying they'll tell us about the gold version of the game is not the same as saying the game has gone gold, imo.

Man that actually discourages me because that's when I sold my 360 to buy my PS3 specifically only for this game. I seem to remember there being a lot of buzz around then about the game being released. God I hope its not the same thing going on again now and then 2 more years from now we'll all be saying this again!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!:scared::scared: Just tell us something!
 
They expected to give us info at the end of October. Nothing.
They expect to release this year..........

It's not being delayed into next year. There is nothing to hint it would be especially now that we know the discs are being printed and the game is finished.

See, that's the dead giveaway.

We were told a firm release date of November 2nd. If someone had come on and said "Yeah, bet you it will be delayed" he would've been shot down, as it was obvious Sony wouldn't once again play with us.

So, now that it's obvious that the discs are being printed (after all, KY said it in an interview, once), there's no way it could be delayed until next year, right?

And yet Sony still refuses to name a date...

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.

So are you just going to make posts filled with ancient /b/'isms exclusively now? Just so I know which ones to ignore.

I'm holding my expectations to an '11 release date. That way, if indeed it does come out this year, I'm pleasantly surprised. If it doesn't, I'm not disappointed. People can justify their release date predictions however they want. All I know is currently, there isn't one (and even if there is, who knows if it'll stick).
 
What about Gran Turismo 5 is it still on track for this year?
Peter Dille: Yeah, Kazunori came out with a comment that they are working on a few last things. He apologized to the community, but explained it is coming before Christmas. We haven’t put a date to that yet, but we will just as soon as we get word from him when he’s done.

In japan Smiling is not only for showing happiness.

Here is a quote from a japanese guy explaining it:

"When do you think a person smiles? I think when he is happy, he does. When he is sad, he doesn't. Anyway when a person is happy he smiles. But Japanese have some exceptions. I think GT5 isn´t finished yet but the shame and pressure is so big that we are being lied to while they [polyphony] are working 24hours to end the game on time for a christmas release.

If the game was gold we would have a release date.
 
If the game is indeed being pressed, they will announce a release date when they have a certain amount of disks printed, 5-7 million, and ready for shipment.

One machine can press to 11000 discs per day(there was an article here about some new sony plant). Wonder how many are on GT5 production.
 
Somebody needs to give a gold disc to the guys on the streets of Newark, NJ. They'll reproduce them so fast it'll be record-breaking. Not only that, they'll have a complete Collector's Edition packaged and ready to ship in no time. Then we can all go to our favorite corner in Newark and buy a copy for $20.

People are gonna find out that he lied, and I bet they'll not be very happy about it. We can't be 100% sure, I'll give you that, but lying about such a thing is just plain stupid.

It's ridiculous for Sony to hold the anouncement that much. If thet don't know yet, tell us. If they do, make the ***** anouncement. Gone gold, right? We're waiting, damn't!!!
 
I think it'd be kinda mean if they made an announcement to say "we don't know yet". I think they're waiting until they are 100% sure at this point when it's going to be released.
 
OK, I have a question or two

Why don't journalists ask Sony they're not giving us the release date? And if journalists HAVE asked, why don't they tell us what Sony's answer was?

I know they asked Kaz and he replied about the discs being pressed/stamped but it feels like there have been a couple of events since that and no one has asked.
 
I think it will be shipped before the end of this year but my guess is that there will be another upsetting plot twist just because that the way things have gone for this game. With all the production logistics involved I am predicting (based on no actual information) that there will be delays between regions and the various versions. It could be possible that the Standard version ships initially but that the Collector's Edition is released a few weeks or a month later (or vice-versa). Wouldn't that be fun?
