GT5 delayed

One of the reasons why a release date announcement is so important to me as a gamer is so I can decide whether to get one of the new games or not. I mean I don't want to by NFS on the 16th, and find out GT5 is coming out 2 weeks later on the 30th.

Yeah, same here. ATM I only have money for 0.5 - 1 games per month. And I'd really like to buy NFS if I have to wait much longer for GT5. :grumpy:

Add another one to the group! I don't spend a lot on games these days, so I'd like to know the date so I can judge accordingly. There are other non-racing games I've been meaning to get on the PS3, but if GT's out in a month, I might as well not!

same boat. I currently have a pre-order in for Assasin's Creed, but I'll cancel it if GT5 is gonna come shortly after it. So I need to know.

I won't bother getting anything if GT5 will be out shortly after. The only game I have currently is Fallout:NV so I'll just keep playing that until GT5 comes out, unless it's gonna be a while.

Even before the release of Gran Turismo 5, Yamauchi-San is already hinting that Gran Turismo 6 is in the works and he also explains some of the reasoning as to why Gran Turismo 5 has been delayed so much and why he would like to “perfect” this game as much as possible. This all came from the SMEA trade show that was going on over this past week when Autoweek asked him some questions.

Autoweek first asked if this year’s SEMA Gran Turismo Best of Show accolade, the 1969 Chevy Camero,*would make an appearance in the next game in the franchise since it is too late to put it into Gran Turismo 5. “Yeah…It’s not something that we can talk that lightly on. It took 2,000 days to get all the ideas that went into GT5. It’s just too early to be talking about GT6.” This means that another game in this popular racing series is already planned, but that’s probably no surprise to most gamers.

He also added why there were so many delays to the game and the reasons why he wants to perfect this game. “It was really to adjust it so it would be perfect, near the end, the people from Sony came to our development studio and told us it was good enough and that we could release it. At the time, I probably wasn’t thinking very clearly, being as exhausted as I was, and I talked myself into thinking this was good enough and it went to release,” said Yamauchi-san referring to the first game he had released.

“But all the things I thought were not enough yet, the users said the exact same thing when the game came out. That was something I regretted very much when that happened because I knew it was coming. And that happened at the beginning of my career, and it was something I vowed would never happen again.”

In other news, Gran Turismo has finally gone gold! This means the discs are being manufactured and getting*readied*to ship to stores.

I'm buying GT5 myself whenever it comes out but I'm asking for NFS for Xmas. Though I have to admit that GT5 will be played more than NFS.
 
GT fans save every cent until they are sure they have it all and ready when the game launches. And will not spend it on any other game...

If they were smart, they invested it years ago and will be able to pay for the game and a G27 wheel whenever it eventually gets launched.
 
I think if GT5 comes out on November 30th even, 2 weeks will be enough time to play out NFS Hot Pursuit. And that'll be my 2 games for the next few months anyway. I'm DEFINITELY not buying a game after GT5 for at least a few months. NFS-HP will just be a nice arcadey racer to kill some time.

Unfortunately, not everybody has a large budget for video gaming. Usually, I only buy a game every 2-3 months.

I d/l'd the Demo of NFS:HP for PS3.

I did a few races but really hated it. You can't use a wheel (at least in the demo) and after playing GT5P for the past few months, it felt completely unnatural and I didn't find it fun at all.

i still don't understand the need for all this secrecy. i've never been so uninformed about a videogame in my life.....no track list, no car list, no options/tuning options info.....what the heck? :(

Wow, if that isn't a wicked tease! I've already bought my CE months ago, prior to that a G27 and a Playseatz...the only item lacking is that disc! sigh, but thats ok, we wait and enjoy the anticipation, which often is the best part. However, that could be open for debate in this particular case. What I'm a bit surpised by is that if you are going to release in November, again, I'd assume you'd want to set the date. Push some more marketing out, gain the attention and build more sales. I'd expect the same even if the game was going to be released in December. Nonetheless, I'm sure Sony's marketing department has their reasons for being so stealth. For me, I've paid my tuition already, now just waiting to play. Thoughts?

I was asked if I'd heard of Jalopnik. I have.

If anything the fact that Jalopnik is sister site to Kotaku confirms my recent speculation that we won't be seeing GT5 any time soon.

Someone brought this up on another site, but: never again? GT2's rushed release and the "never 100%" bug? GT3's now-explained sub-title, and how B-Spec wasn't ready until GT4? GT4's 11th-hour online mode cut? Hopefully all loose ends are tied up with this game, given the time, though.

Same here! Considering I just got my PS3 4 months ago, I'm basically always going to be playing catch-up, considering the back catalogue :P

It's a close call... it's not the best quality picture so it's hard to tell but:

Things that make it look legit:

There is no secondary indentation outside the center hole like many consumer media have and often shows through an an injet label.

The most inner ring appears to have an appropriate XXXX-XXXX type number on it.

The areas visible around the imaged portions do not show incorrect coleration like some CDR or DVDRs.

These lend credence to being a real BR however it could be a reatail BR with a sticker label applied.

Four things that seem a little off -

It appears that the second inner ring has a B shaped stamp on it. This might just be a smudge or lighting though.

The Sony cube logo on the right seems improperly centered on it's white box.

The most odd one that sticks out most for me though is the PS3 arch area at the bottom shows a level of dithering inconsistent with what I am used to seeing on retail discs and mainly near the bottom and right it seems to be suffering from some kind of misprint which looks like bubbles formed in the ink while printing or the image used to create it as perhaps a scan with dirt or specs in the way causing distortion. In general this area seems poor quality to me and mimics what I have gotten out of poor injet prints of solid black/gray areas before. The actual wheel portion looks off to me due to dithering also, but that could legitimately be art style, but the arch at the bottom is a very standard thing and it just looks wrong.

Lastly the BCES number seems awfully low, however that could just be because it was assigned and been heald this whole time.

Outside just looking at it, the guys story about showing video of the game in action tomorrow always sounds fishy...

Just looks and feels off in a quite a few ways... however I might be wrong...
