First impressions:
THIS IS AWSOME! :D

*2½ hours and a broken PS3 later*

I MAY KILL SOMEONE!!!🤬:banghead:

Is yours a ps3 slim or normal ps3? and how many gigs is it because Ive seen a couple other people saying this happen to them

ps3 slim 120 gb.

I had just started the game, and got a message about some museum card, so I went to check them out. This made the game freeze up, and when i finally got it responding again by exiting the game, it wouldn't start up again, it doesn't register blu ray discs anymore... DVD and CD no problem, but no BD

I cant get past the basic information screen when you start up GT Mode!!! its so frustrating!! When i click OK, it dings as it should but the menu stays there and i can still move the cursor. Theres no way that I can see to get off the menu. Anyone got any ideas?

Ouch man, that sucks!

Is it possible to exchange your PS3 for a replacement?

Haven't got a clue jon.
Seeing as your my neighbour, where you get the game Taffy lol.

Well my first impressions after 24 hrs is I cant find the ae86 anywhere in the friggin game, and every time I try to change gears up when drifting with g25 w/clutch, the gear wont engage and i try putting it out of that gear and into that gear and nothing happens and im left spinning out cuz of no continous torque on the rear wheels every f`ing time (pardon the french) :(

So far all good. One annoying gripe is when playing online you join a lobby that requires a specific car you can't change your car in the garage. You have to log back to your home and set specific favourite car. By then the race may have started and you're back stuck with the wrong car.

I'm hoping YES! but thinking NO... I'll go to the store first thing tomorrow, but I'm guessing they will just try to repair it... so I'm probably looking at another month before i get to play the game :nervous:

Depends on the ppl playing, no lagg if ppl have good connections, had a great Gallardo battle on suzuka with a couple of french people. But then some americans joined and brung a lot of lagg with them, and they started crashing into everything and everyone..

Yeah 1280x1080 is perfectly sufficient for this game. Some pixel count comparisons:

SD or better:
720 x 576 (PAL DVD) = 414,720 pixels
1024 x 600 (COD4, COD:WAW, PGR 3) = 614,400px
1138 x 640 (Halo 3) = 728,320 px
1024 x 768 (MGS4) = 786,432 px

Although MGS4 exceeds 720 lines, it is does not qualify as HD due to a lack of horizontal resolution.

HD:
1280 x 720 (720p) = 921,600 px
1280 x 1080 (GT5) = 1,382,400 px
1920 x 1080 (1080p) = 2,073,600 px

Very few games actually run at 1080p it should be noted. Virtua Tennis 3, Fifa Street 3 are examples, but they lack any AA and graphically aren't great anyway.

So really, GT5 is going to be exceptional in terms of resolution and overall visual quality. Few console games will ever compare until the next console generation I reckon.

Well stated.

FFXIII for PS3 ran in 720p for the gameplay, but all cutscenes were true HD at 1920x1080.

You cannot race the top gear track at all, other than in 3 predefined events controlled by level, which is in GT mode only. One is a camper van race and its pretty boring.

Pretty gutted.

See my buddy had that problem with CODBO it seems like the new PS3 slims have been having this issue lately. best bet is to have Sony fix it. They shouldn't give you any problems

Get a gold in one the beginner events and you're free to play it in Arcade or Practice ... :)

Arwin's right; keep going and finish the events first.

Thanks for all your impressions guys, I'll have to wait until the 30th to get my copy and its good read both, good and bad things, but I can feel than the game is really good from your comments, you know I'm tired of read all that trolls complaining in NEOGAF than doesn't have the game and just are looking for every single glitch or bug to complain, specially one guy than worked for another company cofcofcofChecofcofcof than doesn't have the game and is trolling really hard in NeoGAF

I have moved Dan's excellent review into this, the Reviews & Impressions sub-forum. As we all start getting the game into our systems, start directing your first impressions to this section of the GT5 boards :)

👍

che works for MGS, yes, but he left turn 10 months ago. besides, even when he was at turn 10, he was very clearly still looking forward to GT5. I don't think the company for which he works holds any relevance to hsi thoughts on the game anymore.

Can you turn OFF the HUD during a race?

How about since the update?

Such a beautiful game. Such a terrible HUD ruining it. :grumpy:

Danisfast,

Thank you for the time and effort you took to give us your early opinions of the game.

I am buying my copy today.

But I've already play the game, i mean THE GAME, and it does not loot that brilliant at first contact but after like hour and more you start to appreciate details piece by piece.

People i have one thing to say to all of you :) This game still quite large amount of our life :)

Apparently according to the guy in the link standard cars are just all housed on one big "USED" car lot... which makes it hard to navigate.

It's interesting to see that guys review... I feel that he is being very honest and what he says seems to jive with a lot of what we have seen...

I wonder how this works into the "don't dismiss what people who have actually played the gamge have to say" rule as this review is not as friendly towards GT as some we have seen...

I can say for certain though that by the review and the responses, it's clear that people around here who think everyone knows about the negative aspects of GT5 and how that info was known months/years ago are off the mark a bit... there is clearly a lot of realization and surprise going on out there... not everyone is as up to date as we around GTP.

He lists a few positives and doesn't even go into detail about them (just lists a few bullet points with absolutely no explanation). Then he proceeds to write pages about each individual negative, and later updates his posts with more negatives, yet mentions NOTHING about anything positive. I think some people may be making their opinion way to quick, or let certian disappointing aspects overcast their entire view of the game, preventing them from seeing anything positive. Some people even going as far as stating they won't buy the game now . I guess we should expect this type of response after the endless wait. Opinions are opinions though.
