Is the world map behind dynamic?
image01a.jpg

I'm assuming that once you pick one of the option (box), it will either open to further expand the options or bring the world map to the foreground allowing you to pick the track/race series or purchase cars. To me, the UI looks cleaner, seems more concise and coherent compared to the menu in GT4 and an obvious progression from GT5P.

I expect that it will be much the same structure as previous GTs, but different enough as to label it something 'new and exciting'. PD can't dissappoint.

Here are my guesses.

1. Merlot at the top left is the name of the profile. (Which is probably a reference to Kaz's love for wine by the way)

2. The picture below can probably be changed to any photo you choose or choose from certain avatars that are built in.

3. Arcade mode is accessible from a menu before this menu.

4. It is currently on "GT Life" which is probably the new name for GT Mode. Personally, I like it better and I think it points to more of a career-like format.

5. "Profile" is probably where you can see your progress in the game and maybe make other changes such as the avatar photo.

6. Community is a little confusing. Is that where you access online mode? I'm not sure on that one.

7. There is also a 1.car, 2.music note, 3.camera, and 4.video camera. Should be how you 1.access your garage/car collection, 2.music from internal hdd, 3.look at photo mode photos, and 4.watch replays.

8. There are two empty circles below. Either they are hiding something from us or those circles are customizable.

9. "Normal Events" is probably traditional GT Mode. Meaning it will have a similar break down to GT4 once you go in there. However, it will probably have a similar layout to GT5P. Personally, I think endurance events will be there, too.

10. "Special Events" is a picture showing a pit crew. That really makes me think this where you can access your season of WRC, Nascar, and SuperGT. Also, don't forget they said the words "and more" when listing official racing licenses in that press release a week or so ago.

11. The rest of them are self explanatory except for "Special". Which may be driving missions or something along those lines. Could also be a placeholder for something else. a.k.a. when the game actually ships it will really say, "track editor". But they have not released that info, so they will not put it there.

Overall, I love the menu layout for its ease of use, because Prologue and GT4 were a pain. One thing I will miss about GT5P's menu will be the photo mode appearance. It looked great and would catch myself just watching it for a long time.

Community is online. 👍 to everything you said.

Point 10 is interesting. We know there is a F2007, and we know PD have links with Red Bull. We were also told in the E3 press release (The closed door one) to expect more Formula One teams to be in the game. You're talking 2007-08 era (As Codemasters are believed to have the exclusive licenses for the latest seasons), so RBR, STR, BMW, Mclaren, Honda, Toyota and Renault are all likely I think. F1 is big in Europe, so maybe we will find out in Germany at Gamescom in August. Also hoping for some classics aswell :)

Community is most likely the new GT5 board.

Online will be up one level in the prologue style menu where you have GT Life, Arcade, Online mode, Options, GT-TV and some other things.

Wonder if we can be able to level up online?

Someone can explain/describe this for me thanks. :)

You will probably be able to earn prize money online.

But there is no levelling up system in GT games is there?

i think normal events are races around te world: Manufacturers races, Lightweight cup, Sunday cup, FR races, Endurance,WD Races, and alot of other small Race Events. I hope not GT5P-style events.

& Special events are full championchips.

Japan/european/US championship, DTM, WRC, Nascar, FormulaGT(F1), GT-World championship. and other championships.

@Maxitsu: I doubt that Endurance races are in the Normal race category.

I just know its a Special Event because we all know in real life that Endurance races are Special/rarely seen.

e.g. Le Mans 24hr - once a year.

So Endurance should fit into the special category. :)

Live photo mode location is still there, on the main screen

I hope the animated garage screen we saw before is the new GT Life garage screen

That would be 35,000 in the credits you are used to. In the Japanese version it adds 3 zeros (Or rather the opposite, 3 zeroes get removed for the western market), to make it closer to Yen.
More like 350'000. 100 Yen normally has been close to 1 USD or CAD (usually in between). Think of 1 yen as close to 1 cent. The rule is remove two zeros from your yen figure to get something close to a dollar.

Circuit de la Sarthe is the name of the track. Le Mans is where the track is situated which in Pays de la Loire region of France and is the name of the 24 hour race and a couple of series based on the same multi-class racing :) Wikipedia is your friend.

I was talking in terms of GT.

Japan has always had 3 extra zeroes compared to the US and PAL/EU versions of the game.

I don't need Wikipedia for this, I guess he knew which track it was after I said Le Mans though...

It just looks to me like someone has come in and told them about user interfaces. I loved to old games but the UIs were bad :( especially gt2 (didn't play gt1)

I liked GT2's ability to go from the tuning shop to racing or to your home or wherever you wanted just by clicking on an icon. I hope they bring that back.

I just hope that the events aren't like the ones in GT3. The GT3 races were so uninspired, it was like the beginner events had the FR, MR, FF, 4WD, etc. with 2 laps, then you went to the amateur events and it was the same races with 3-5 laps, and finally you make it to the professional events and guess what, it's the same FR, MR, FF, 4WD, etc. with a whopping 10-15 or sometimes even 20 laps per race. It made the GT3 career mode a chore instead of actually being fun. Especially when it came to some of the one-make races, I mean come on 10 laps around Grand Valley in a Vitz?:yuck:

I actually liked the fact the drivetrain events were tiered.

It meant you could start off with low end models, and work your way up.

In GT4, there was a huge number of cars but a lack of events a lot of them could compete in. You ended up buying 1 car for one event and then having to buy a new car for the next. If certain races were tiered (Like the FR cup for example, where there is a huge difference in the capability of the low and high end cars) it would allow a wider range of cars to enter.

There should be a huge increase in the number of event races in GT5. Cater for every car, don't leave out entire classes of race car like they did with the GT1 cars in GT4 (And the GT300 SuperGT cars for that matter).

**video**

Ok good, it looks like it is before the screen we are discussing.

But yea that garage screen should be used. I doubt they modeled it just for some demo's.

After pressing the 'Car Dealer' button it will show a lineup full of Car Manufacturers. :)

So how many Car manufacturers will be in GT5?

Guess now.

well...we had I think 80 in GT4. And we've already added more than ten more with Masterati, Tesla, Lambo, Ferrari and the like, so...I'm going to guess 110.

EDIT: 53 dealers so far...and I suspect that's only half of them.
