NOT A COLOR PALETTE
Instead Of Buying A Car For Paint
How About Like A Paint Store
Maybe 500-5000 Cr. For One Paint
To Make More Realistic Than A Color Palette
Maybe The Better The Paint The More It Costs
:dopey:

I'm sure plenty of people will agree, as do I.

Hate the current format. 👎

I kinda like the paint system, cause they are called paint chips, so they are like samples for people who will paint your cars to compare it to.

And it would probably not be called a dealership, maybe shop or store would be better suiting.

I had the same idea, I dont even care about paying over the top amounts to duplicate a colour/turn it matte or chrome.
The grind is annoying but doable where as Used Roulette is a job I dont need.

The one time use of the paint chips if my biggest problem with the system, though I also don't like not being able to have other colors at all. There are definitely colors that I want to paint my cars that aren't in the game as far as I can tell. Being able to use a color wheel to mix colors or something would be great.

this is my favorite suggestion so far. I bet Kaz won't bother to implement it though. Maybe for GT6.

Also, there is an achievement for getting afair 256 paint chips, so I guess it won't be implemented- but they could make a preview for painting the car, it drives me mad when I have to exit the game each time I don't like the paint change, so that I don't lose he paint chip

I wish there was a better preview system. the stupid "car" model next to it does not relate at all what the color looks like on the car. I dunno how many paints I've wasted only to think, meh, that doesnt look that good on that car.

I use the Quit strategy to avoid losing the colour.

I managed the "Colorful" Trophy yesterday (finally!) now have around 350 cars!

Most annoying was the '54 C1 Corvette. I just don't like it in black. Experimenting with dates I got the car in two good colours... a red and a blue and it looks much better in either. Stupid Paint Shop said the C1 could not be painted so I couldn't even use a genuine C1 Corvette colour on it. Not impressed!

Or how about this for a radical idea? Make it so that you can paint any car, any colour, in a variety of finishes, at any time... I know, crazy huh?

The concept of only acquiring a paint chip when you buy/acquire a car of that colour is absolutely pathetic.

I hated the idea of the paint chips at first but it doesn't bother me now apart from the one time use thing that's just stupid GT just has to be different doesn't it. The ops idea is good though.

How about once you earn a paint chip (as it is in GT5) you can use that color as many times as you would like. Then on top of that, make some colors more rare and collectible, like flat colors, etc. I'm trying to avoid using any colors until I get my 256-colors - "Colorful" Trophy. How about if you obtain all available colors from a particular manufacturer you then are awarded their "trademark" color . . . Like Lotus Green, Ferrari Red (Rosso Corsa) etc?

I know this is an old topic but would it be possible for someone to use twitter and ask PD to at least try to implement a paint chip shop. Instead of buying a car each time for a paint chip, we can just buy the paint at a store. Another idea is the paint chip is still available for use again instead of one time use. Hopefully this method is implemented in an update.

You can trade with people.. and ask other people on the forums if they have a particular color or know what color corresponds to which paint chip. Most people are willing to help.

I agree with the OP as well, wonderful idea! So long as it too had a good preview of your car with the new paint.

But to share my 2 cents worth, the best way to "fix" the painting of cars in GT5, is have a proper preview of the color you select on the car you're painting. Not that useless preview model they show you now. The preview now is not at all accurate to how it will look on your car, its not even the same shade/color!!!! Plus, sometimes it doesn't even paint the whole car, so we have no way of knowing what to expect when we paint cars...

Its really just like Russian roulette, pick a color, cross your fingers and hope it looks good! if not, use another chip and try again!

I think it will be better if they give a paint for some races (or anything else). I mean if I want paint I can do something to get it, rather than buying a car.
Buying a paint chip directly may be very easy...But also it's most natural and cool.

Paint shop with car preview!!!

Bingo. 👍

A paint shop would be awesome. I hate have to spend 350 grand for a lime green color, or matte black etc. The car world i about customization. IRL I can get my car painted whatever color i want within a few days. The customization hassle is really annoying and not the greatest customization system.

I like that idea, I hate that we loose colors when we paint them something else. And also have it so we can see the actual color on the car before painting it.

would be good if you had to go to the dealership and got the paint chip from them at a price. And why not make it so you can see the car in preview before you get it sprayed. :)

I'm only frustrated that I've owned the game since day one and I still haven't received any chrome paints. :grumpy: ...and all my matte paints are boring colors like matte dark grey, matte white, and matte dark blue. :yuck:

I don't mind the paint chips, but I wish I could just buy them.

I also agree with the comment about the preview model. It doesn't really help you know what the car will look like.

The most annoying issue for me is finding the stripes sometimes go away and sometimes they don't. I'd like to be able to put stripes (and flames) on some of my cars.

As some have said: Preview. I don't care of the paint shop or to buy extra paints, I have too many to begin with. I just want to see it before I apply it. If I were to significantly add anything. I'd want to see the ability to add a tapestry to the car for multiple colors. For an example see a RM Chevy ZR-1 colored. It's hood is one color, it's sides from the rear tires slanted forward it is white, and the rear is black. That and adding stripes (ala Ford GT/Viper).

Good Idea, with a tiny tweak;

A-Spec/B-Spec level = type of paint

0-9 = solid/gloss
10-15 = metallic
16-20 = pearl
21-30 = color shift
31-35 = matte
36-40 = chrome

Like?
Also helps exclusivity:D

👍 I approve of your tweak. Simple but it makes perfect sense
