Except F-18's don't have canards.
That's why it was already established those planes probably aren't F-18's but just loosely based on them probably due to licence issues, if you read some of the previous posts that is.

They added em, but everything is 100% pure F/A- 18. The US did make a version of the F-15 with canards.
The F-15S/MTDI'll admit that the shape does remind me of an f-18, but it also reminds me of the Sukhoi Su-30.
Look at it again, besides the canards, its definitely a F-18. Look at the how the fins start afew feet in on the engine and the shape of the elevators/wings. It's like they just modeled a F/A-18 and put a canard from the Eurofighter on it.
Ok ok, I think the real question is, how would premium planes differ from standard planes?

"Standard Aircraft do not support interior camera views"
LMAO!
On a side note, anyone else bought and enjoyed "H.A.W.X"? i love that game!

I bought it and liked it,it was a bit better than ace combat 6,but still is not match for the good ace combat's from ps2,I play those every time I can![]()
I have H.A.W.X, it's pretty fun online, but the only time it's ruined is when people spam all-aspect missiles on you.I'll keep it as my number 3 favorite air combat game after Ace Combat and IL-2 Sturmovik.
I'm sure this is way off topic.
Yeah aspects are so damn annoying!, the only missiles the Eurofighter couldn't evade with a simple loop![]()
But thinking more deep into the aircraft topic and is easier to make a game like ace combat with all of aircraft in history,I don't know if there is 1000 different models of military aircraft,Project Aces can make a huge ace combat like Gran Turismo does a huge race game

It would take PD decades before they could touch Flight Simulator X...why even try
Flight Simulator X is the definitive flight sim, there may never need to be another one made...
There is one thing that's missing........ultra realistic graphics! 💡
I count more then 16 cars on screen at once
I Had Hawx and got rid of it. It was fun for a while but with no take off and landings and the visuals of the cockpit were hazy for some reason, it kinda ruined it for me hopefully 2 is better. Now IL2 is my bread and butter. I will always play that game.
I know its off topic but, talking about flight games, I've been really disappointed with the contemporary iterations for the PS3. I dont know about you guys, but take off and landing are just as much fun for me as all the flying and dog flying and I tend to stear clear of games that dont include it. Best game I've come across so far is IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. Nice if you like historical planes, really good flying physics and of course, the ability to take off and land. If you havent played it I'm pretty sure there's a demo on psn. Check it out, and if you could recommend another game for someone of my somewhat fussy needs, please do 👍
It's an F18 with a canard. There is no mistaken it's engine/tail layout.
👍 To both of you, as I also think Il2 Sturmovik BOP is the only real flight sim on consoles right now.
Although to be honest I'm not really an expert on flight sims, I did play Ace Combat 5 on the PS2 which apparantly is an arcade game ( not that I would ever experience the real thing so that fact was a bit lost on me ) but since Il2 is much harder ( and more fun as I love the older planes ) and for the reason I pretty much suck at it when the going gets though must mean it's more realistic perhaps........( I found out I'm not really pilot material as I get disorientated quite quickly ).
Strangely coincidental with the whole GT5 Premium/Standard discussion this game also has a two-tier system ( due to poor planning ) although the choice which planes have cockpits are decided along political lines ( the "good guys" have cockpits, the evil ones haven't ).
Now to return on-topic ( much harder to do than any other thread ) I don't think the current increasing display of airplanes is much more than background eye candy and the only new element PD could add to flight sims which isn't already done ( at least to my knowledge ) is a racing element.
Either something like Red Bull Air Race or those US plane races whereby classic war planes are turned into racing planes which fly/race side by side along an oval parcours ( well, in the air obviously) but I don't think this will be a very likely route for them to take, at least not vey soon.
If you want flight sims, PC. It's the only way. After Ace Combat 4, AC got upgraded physics that brought them closer to reality, but it's still nothing like a true sim. The two best options are Falcon 4.0 and Flaming Cliffs 2. Falcon is ultra hardcore, takes about 10 minutes to start the jet before flying (although you can skip start up). FC2 is more streamlined without giving up on realistic flying. It's getting replaced by DCS though, that one will be a monster.
If you want a real (NASCAR onlyI'm sure that a real flight sim is only available on a PC ( in the same way a real racing sim probably is )
off topic: Gaijin (developer of IL-2 BOP) is releasing "Apache Air Assault" for consoles this fall. They did such a good job with BOP I expect a stunning game with Apache.
on topic: I believe the planes are just eye candy for us to see. What will look cool is when your going down the straightaway and you see that big jet coming up on your right (sweet).
