I've just woke up( morning). Any other sources since jalopnik reported on this yet guys.

Am I the only one that doesn't really see the issue in this picture. He's turning the corner which makes the weight shift to his left side, and he's turning a corner so you will be able to see the rear wheel from a different angle.

The car is missing the Axle's

You can see more then half of the tyre so where would the axle be?

As you can see in this model, the Samba bus has very high unconventional off-center axles. So this is probably the reason we dont see them, in fact looking at most photos its hard to see them at all, this is the underside of a plastic model.

Thanks pizza, atleast Sony haven't come out to squash it. Good news.

Still as everyone else is saying more the half the wheel is being shown and not a bit of an axle is being seen.

There's been some discussion of modding here. It would be cool that the racing number thing would be like in real-life, so only racing modded cars would have a painted permanent number and the street legal cars would get a number sticker to their window before every race.

Well as you can see int he picture, a standard axle is directly int he center of the circle (hub), whereas the Samba(and other Dr.Porsche creations) have this really odd offset axle, possibly for driving through rough terrain.

Edit: Found the article. Thanks Grand Prix

From Wikipedia:
Portal axles (or portal gear) are an offroad technology where the axle tube is above the center of the wheel hub.[1] Compared to normal layout, this enables the vehicle to gain a higher ground clearance, as both the axle tube and differential casing are tucked up higher under the vehicle.[2][3][1]

My family came to Canada in a Samba from wayy down in Central America, it made it through mountains deserts shallow waters, the south , and the whole east coast until finally succumbing to the harsh winters of Montreal.

Back on topic as the bus leans or rollls, the axle dosnt become clearly defined as a centered one would, its almost hidden from view, i dont think PD would overlook this kind of detail cuz any GT4 lover knows that every single cars undercarriage was modeled to some extent (fully shaped but all black.)

Im definitely giving PD the benefit of the doubt.

This is why I love GT, you always learn something! Who knew a little Samba could be so interesting. They were tough little tings thats for sure.

Cheers snake. I've just got a nagging voice in my head saying don't believe it. Lol.

I really don't see the need for nitpicking about that VW Bus.
I'm sorry!

Just clarifications for anyone who would think PD would let something like that slip, these are the masters of meticulousness, respect where respect is due!

However if it wasnt the case and it WAS missing axles, thats definitely an issue. This is not (unmodded) RFactor!

May be old, but that is a really impressive PS2 model.. very impressive. I also like how you can see the driver and some of the cockpit, Glad its not completely dark and does not have that GT4 pixelated driver helmet that changed sizes.

You know the other day when we thought there was a rage on the PS blog, I thought the 250 comments were a lot. But then I was looking just now, and there was over 1,600 comments on the lastest post about GOW. Pretty crazy. And there was 43 replies by the guy, and not one reply about GT5 in over 200 comments.

I will SMH all over the place if cars from GT4 that already had modeled cockpits end up standard cars in GT5, Caterham, most drop tops(benz SL's Honda Beat, lotus elan, alfa spider 65 etc.), frankly i have trouble seeing the older LMP cars and possibly the Formula GT being standard, theres not much to model there...

The interior might be modeled, we just wont get that view point as a driving camera. You get what I mean?

Damn thats a lot.

The GT5 delay blog post has over 700 which I thought must have been close to a record, I guess not.

In the case of Caterham and the drop tops that is boderline retarded if PD do that, because they already have them modeled, they just need to bump the polys map the 3d elements, working gauges and have better textures...

That's what I'm saying. We know the interior is done and modeled, but if it's standard we might not get to see it from the inside, or the drivers position. Unless it's a premium car, or some standard cars can have that vantage point.

Could someone youtube the Qore video part with GT5 in it ?

I'm scared of that, cuz it almost makes no sense, if theyre going to show some off set cams trying to avoid a very well modeled interior, why wouldnt they take the next step and just 'Premiumize' them?

I want my caterham and elan and beat!

I remember a Kaz interview where he states about 3 kind of cars. Premium level, standard level and some cars in between.
Maybe the not standard but not full premium cars will be the convertibles and open cockpits from GT4? 💡

Back to the Samba Bus if i may, Why don't we all wait and see if we can roll 1 over in the game to then check if all its gubbins are in order :p

Oh well, what can you do then?
Hopefully GT6 will have all premium cars...

Where'd you find this out?
Also, they should let us chose whether we want the roof up or down in convertibles before all races.
But wouldn't be great if we could open and close them during a race (just in case it starts to rain)?

I think you're right.

Like in this picture. Added a number sticker and mods to the Lotus

Also I notice a carbon fiber trunk on the S15. Hmmm...

Where did you find this?

edit: never mind

I wonder if the GT-R Proto will fall in the "in-between" category as well. That depends on the level modelling for the exteriors of the Standard cars mostly though.

For those of you that didn't bother getting Prologue or completing the S Class, the GT-R Proto didn't have an interior.

The R15 was just ugly. They probably didn't include it because it would have made the game lose points for graphics in the reviews it's that ugly. I mean, better than real life graphics is one thing, but you'd neeed a biblical GPU to make the tusk-duck R15 look good.

For me the R15 is or better was one of the best looking LeMans cars of all time alongside with the Group C cars and especially the Mazda 787b. The R15+ is not that nice at all, but it won the 24 hours :)
