I don't think that Sony Russia thing even mentions anything about DLC at launch. It just says that the game will have DLC. And I think most of us figured that it would anyway.

What difference does it make when the content was created and how it is delivered - even if it is on the disc already? Do you think it is bad that you can download some shareware as a trial but are then expected to pay to unlock the full version? After all, the trial version usually has all the functionality already within it - just not available.
Take this with a huge grain of salt at the moment, but a poster at NeoGAF by the name of Sin is saying that there are copies of GT5 out in the wild. I wouldn't normally post this but he's a reliable poster there.

I'm worried about this. It's a common trend in modern games - paying for extra content even though YOU JUST BOUGHT THE FULL FRIGGIN' GAME (Dice I'm looking squarely at you)

Because no matter what they did, it's be awful, unfunny, repetitive, unrelated garbage.
This is in no way a reflection on JC, he's magnificent, just, you can't distil actual good humorous commentary into 30 or 100 sound clips and stitch them back together in a random order with it coming out as funny again.
It just wouldn't work, and would inevitably become annoying. I just don't think that's a very PD thing to do.

The esquire article has a time line and it says "after a short delay now its time to start your engines" dated for december 2010... I might get a scan of it later today.

To be honest I wasn't being serious about this. I know how repetitive and annoying it would be to have the same few sound clips played over and over again. It would be an unfitting addition of the game.

I like the idea. Imagine you making your lap on the reasonably priced car and when you watch the replay Jc shouting: Massive slide... and accross the finishline! Then some applauds from the studiocrowd. It repeats in tg and I haven't found it irritating, mostly the exact opposite.

In all seriousness, I don't see why PD would put it in GT5. I thought it would be alright to hear him commentating during your lap, but his comments would be limited and there wouldn't be much point having it in the game.

Hearing the phrase "...and across the line" once a week delivered by an actual human being with variations in tone / pitch etc. is much less likely to become irritating.
I suppose if it's only during replays you don't have to hear it, and you could probably turn it off. I just don't see that it'd add anything after the first time you hear it.

I think it should be only on replays as it distracts you when driving. But in greater scale commentary would add alot at least in the b-spec mode. Of course Jc fits only in tg related things like the lap on a reasonably priced car, but it would be great to have a overly enthusiastic japanese commentator on drifting events. Rally events should have a co-driver shouting you directions and Nascar an american commentator. I think you get my point.
