common sense ( something scarcely used on here ) tells me they are both done at the same time..

a dvd / BR / CD is a sandwich of two discs of plastic with a foil layer bonded in the middle.

so they would have one machine adding art work to top layer..

another machine adding the data to the foil section

then another machine to press the 2 together...

im more than likely completely wrong.. but thats my take on it.

i see your thinking though...

he may have got this disc from the plant with only the artwork on... :sly:

Dont you think the data is written onto the (already) complete disc.
By complete disc I mean the two plastic discs and the foil inbetween already assembled ?

Was it used or new? If used it could be a traded-in Australian import.

Or demand for the game was so great Sony Europe had to source copies from Australia.

and sorry i was being sarcastic.. i know the disc was more than likely imported from Aus to meet a high UK demand.. or something along those lines.

i just find it hilarious that people on here go into such detail to find out about a picture.. without actually thinking what they are saying..

it means nothing... i dont see the point of creating thread after thread of uselesness ..

I think having a look at those SEMA pictures, there could have been better choices for a winner this year.

I told you how I came to that conclusion. Copies are now out in the wild, if one gets into the wrong hands then it'll be up for people to download in no time, which is exactly what Sony doesn't want. It's now in their best interest to get the game out as soon as they possibly can.

No I understand they'd be crapping their pants if this was real, and yes, if this is legit, it IS in their best interest to release ASAP, BUT it still doesn't mean the game is definitely coming out this year. The more likely action they'd take is to track down the source of the leak and prepare to prosecute like hell. Similar to what they did with the original PS3 jailbreak in Australia. It didn't stop the jailbreak from happening, but it delayed distribution for a bit and allowed Sony to get a bit of a headstart in countering.

Ahh, finally! Looks killer.

The '69 Camaro is probably my all time favorite car. I hope it will be DLC, because having both this and a stock '69 Camaro in the GT5 garage would be awesome.

I will be guessing that this situation happens for every game.

They release a review copy, then a few weeks later the game is released. At least that's what I assumed when you said "out in the wild".

gruso, not too much hype about the new COD i found this time around? ah well, i dont think there was any mystery behind its release date and stuff. i never knew there was such a gt5 hype either :O

I give up. I'm getting Black Ops and doing something else with my PS3, whenever the hell GT5 comes to my house, when I'm bored with black ops, then I will play it.

If 35 plants made 6 million discs a month that would be 210 million every month.

That's about 7,000,000 per day...and this was what...6 years ago? They can probably push out 20m a day world wide right now when working at full capacity.
 
210 million discs every month ?! They never be able to sell that many disks. Thats more than a billion discs a year. I doubt they would build so many factory's capable of pushing out 6 million discs if they don't need it.

Anyway , this is not the point.
The point is , when will we know some more from the BD guy and the Gadget Show guy ?

Although those are not not blu-ray discs, it's pretty much spot on how I pictured it would work. I'm undergoing an education in process industry afterall, so I've seen one thing and another in real life. :)

well its not just GT they burn is it.. every game / music cd / dvd / blue ray etc etc will be done at these factory's...

mu guess is.. knowing what sony has a handle on...

these factorys will be kept nice n busy

These plants basically manufacture all BD disc based content, so movies and games, not just Sony games.
