Me: So can you guys decide if you get GT5 or not? And if you have pen midnight or not?
GS: Ehm, wait a minute... (then he looks on random site in interweb and says) YES!!! FINALLY a release date, did you know it comes the 24th!!!!
Me: Ehm .. yeh????
GS: I dont know about midnight, we will know the 23rd...

Jesu christu....

ha, you gotta love the average game shop staff! I love it when i go in and actually speak to a gaming fan who knows what he's talking about.

Hopefully they'll have a midnight launch for you mate!!

Wait... Hobart and Adelaide have a midnight event, and Perth/Brisbane do not?

...Hobart? :odd:

Maybe all the staff want to go home and play GT5, instead of working, I know I would.

There is 4 dudes working in my local shop, and 3 of them have really no idea what GT5 is, and only cargame they fancy or know anything about is Mario-cart. The last one knows a bit, but dont play himself at all.. like no games basically. :ouch:

Australians without a PS3,

go to Harvey Norman and pre-order a 320Gb PS3 + GT5 for just $487!

Massive savings!

Got mine ordered this evening.

Super stoked. Going to be one LONG ARSE WEEK!

The guy at the EB games where I have mine ordered from said the guys at the warehouse took pictures of the boxes sitting in the warehouse and sent them through to him. Fans 👍

I found this pretty interesting. The first image is purportedly to be real time render from T10 current development (and was shown at this year's E3 during Kinect presentation). Some people dismissed the real-time claim. Compare that to what is GT5 actual photomode's 458 (the second image). Both are amazing although we know one of them is real or will be (more real) sometime next week.

WOW......!

Going to show my age now, way back I used to have a cutting edge computer calle an Atari 520STFM with an extra 2 meg of memory (that cost me over £200.00 for 2 meg!), and I used to do some graphics work using ray tracing package (I can't remember the name now) that would create images with multi light sources and surface textures. But the point is to render just an image of a mirrored ball on a checked surface with a cloudy sky would mean leaving it to run for about thirty six hours and that was a fast machine in it's day, that's not even as much work as the PS3 does for one light cluster on that Ferrari!.........wow I really am an old codger! lol

WheelStandPro has arrived, accidentally bent the quick release bolt for the steering tube (the vertical one), there is now some movement in the tube, anyone know where to get a replacement?

Contact the folks at http://www.wheelstandpro.com/ they will be able to ship a replacement to you quickly.

So, anyway, talking of Photomode, my wife submitted the photo we took of her car to the Facebook Madrid launch party competition (which, if you missed it, was "Take a photograph of your own car, photomode style, in an unusual location").

We've not heard anything, so I doubt we've won anything, but browsing the album on their site today, we're one of the 42 best photos submitted (43 really, but there's a duplicate in there - of a Lamborghini LM002, which I wouldn't expect to be owned by a GT-fan browsing Facebook).

Here's the photo we submitted:

(click for a very, very large version).

I don't have a Facebook, so I don't know anything further about the competition or what the 42 "best" really means. But feel free to check it out yourself and "Like" it if you do. Also, the car is for sale if you want it :D

Edit: Found out what it means.

The very best images from the GT5 Madrid launch event competition are ready for you to see in the photo album. The winners will be announced by the end of the week so if you recognise your photo, be sure to check your inbox! Winners must respond within 24 hours.

So, we're in the final 42. There's five prizes based on region (UK/Ireland, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain) so we're looking at a one in eight chance of winning - however, only six of the photos seem to be British/Irish (and one of those is a Photoshop), so we're at about one in six. Sweet!

Might have been POV-Ray? It's still going and full on raytracing is still slower than what you might think.

There have been alot of advancements in Ray tracing, and its almost up to the point its real time ray tracing. There's a few video's on youtube displaying this technology.

There's that Top Gear track (?) at dusk again. It must be a setting within GT5 - hopefully, time of day on that track

Man there's a lot of money in that photograph!

Just thought about it, I wonder if there are any standard cars in there, and if the driver had to sit outside of the car to drive it as there's no cockpit :D

(just joking had that funny image in my head.)

He'd be on standard wheels too, poor sod! :indiff:

It's a good picture though, what event was it for?

Ha, that's still not that great an offer though really! I suppose if you have F1-2010 and do't like it then you will be lucky.

Its an Ok game , but once GT5 arrives, ill have very little time for it and ive done enough with it, so for me it would have been a bargain.

Grrr, why is someone still posting a forza pic. I've already seen 2 of their "visions" of this generation, thanks.

Although it seems to show the TopGear test track in the dusk in the last bit of the commerical. I don't know, but I can't be bothered to read too much into it. Settings for the Top Gear test track would be great. :yuck: lol!
