Well i just spent my first 4 hours in GT5. Have to say, although I was skeptical, especially regarding car list, I am very excited and very pleased with GT5. The physics and feel of driving are not only realistic, but fun! I have gone to level 7 in four hours. Have done B license only, finished in silver. Have won multiple prize cars, by completing the compact cup, FR cup, and Sunday cup. I have bought a couple of cars, including a '91 RX7. Damage is better than expected, after the damage thread debacle. It is also definitely changing as my level increases. The sounds are also definitely improved, much more meaty compared to prologue. It's fun to spin your car in the middle of a race, because it looks so realistic. Also, replays are better than ever (which is saying something). Only downside is no rewind or fast forward.
The only negative for me is the quality of some standard cars. Although acceptable, I wouldn't go shouting about them. But, they do make up the numbers. To see what i mean, look at a Mazda MX5. The jagged wheel arches are disgusting to look at. But hopefully not too much time will be spent in ugly standard cars. Don't get me wrong, some standards look better than others.
I think after all the skepticism and negativity around GTP, I am just relieved and happy to finally be playing this game. It's actually quite hard to believe that it's actually here and that i've been playing it.
