I actually wholeheartedly agree with IGN.

one thing that peeves me still is why can't we have mechanical damage from the start?

I'm up to level 12 and still no mechanical damage...

Because GT5 uses an XP (experience point) levelling system.

8.5
It's called expectation. Be honest, this game has a lot of glitches\bugs. Not very PD like.

Some of us still remember GT1 and, to a much greater extent, GT2.

Ha ha ha! People without kids make me laugh. And then cry a little bit.

haha...i´m very quiet waiting for him but i´m almost sure that the postman will be here this afternoon after 14:00hs.
It was hard to get the Signature Edition here, thats the reason that makes me be a little ...well you know.......··"%$"·$!"··$ COME ON POST MAN!!:grumpy:

Bugs? I don't know. A lot of controversial design decisions, for sure.

But I agree with the first statement, gt is really being compared to it's own reputation, not any other game. If you check out the list of other 8.5 reviews, I'll bet there's nothing even remotely comparable.

Guys, somebody knows where in the game I should type in the code that I got from the shop to unlock cars? And, does somebody know if this code will just unlock these cars so I can buy them or will I get straight away?

Thanx

PS Store, Redeem Codes (top-right corner).

Before you even start up the game go Account Management (it's on the PSN section of the XMB bar) and then click on Redeem Codes. Just type in the code and you'll download it.

Go to the XMB and under your user account you have the option to put the code...just put the code and you´ll get the cars (download)

Edit: Or in the PS Store as Famine said.

Famine Solidsnake and i could be the three mosqueteers...haha...this is a community :D

this is 2010, in a billion $ industry. mistakes are very expensive.
news spread faster and wider now, and hardcore racers like us, are a minority...

i have to thank PD for giving me the physics i had hoped, similar to iracing, in a better looking graphical engine than the pc sims 👍

Well tomorrow will be interesting. I've got it preordered, but the place I've got the order with doesn't take upfront payment. So I've got no idea how solid it is. Basically I'm going to head down there at 9am, and hopefully walk out 10 minutes later with the game in my hot little hand.

Either that, or I'm driving around rural nsw in a cold sweat trying to land a copy...

I'm waiting for Postman Pat, he gotta hurry up now, im growing impatient! :D

I'm afraid you've lost me.

You said mistakes and bugs aren't very PD-like. GT1 had plenty and GT2 was full of them - not to the level of Bethesda, where you can't actually play the game - but there were annoying and niggling bugs. Oh and then there was the garage bug in GT4 caused by autosave and the Mission Hall bug for North America...

It's nothing new for a GT game to have bugs.

I pre-ordered at Harvey Norman.

They'll hold my PS3 and GT5, right?

They should do, wook. Although I do have a bad expeirence with Harvey Norman - I pre-ordered a copy of COLIN McRAE RALLY 2.0 years ago and they never contacted me to say it was in. In the end, I just bought it from Big W (and got it cheaper, too).

They haven't contacted me about it, but then they aren't selling it yet...

Reckon I should call them in the morning and make sure they'll hold it for me?

Other peoples reviews (publications or users) "should" mean nothing against your own at the end of the day. Web reviews range from 7 up to 10 it seems.........Everyone looks to be different, but all pretty much confirm that it IS the best simulator there is. The rest of the game again looks to be more subjective. The menu system for example, some love some hate. I'm yet to recieve mine (Ironing is keeping me occupied!) so i can't really say, but from what i've seen in vids etc etc i love the look and layout. Sounds? Same again, but from what i've heard, they are great. I've a stonking Q-Acoustics waiting to be thrashed. All im trying to say is don't let other peoples reviews dampen or put you off, especially if you've not played yet. People will no doubt bring Forza 3 into the equation (like im doing now! doh), especially the ******s, but sales of both (including past incarnations) IMHO is an honest assesment of how the general public as a whole view the whole "which is better" argument. Forza 3 is a great game, no doubt, but GT has always had a certain magic and soul, which resonates with everyone. Special relationships have been formed with many car manufacturers etc etc. Clearly the GT franchise has sold many times more down the years. Anyway, enjoy the game and i'll see you online once my ironings done, and City Link knock at my door.

What about a Gametrailers review? They seem to be more spot on than IGN and Gamespot.

Gametrailers tend to put more time and effort into finishing and reviewing a game. They also do more group based reviews rather than journalistic, to get a more averaged approach.

Just to say it, just FINALLY bought the game and installing now, Collerstors Edition, which is in my eyes useless, I thought the APEX book contains a list when to get the special used cars, well, it doesn't.

So sad :( I have to wait till 1pm to get the game, then 5.30pm to actually get home to install it :(

This install is killing. The last 5 minutes have been '50 seconds remaining'

Guess it's really good for building anticipation!

Also just a quick question to anyone who has installed the game: Is there a slideshow to go with the install? I want to look at the pretty cars :3

Kaz wants you to wait a little bit longer. Whats 5 minutes to 5 years:)

That's similar to me yesterday. It also took a grand total of one whole hour from first putting the game in the PS3 until I got to see the intro as well!

Unfortunately not.

its best to make a coffee and have a few cigs.

Yeah mines with Harvey Norman too. I am assuming they'll have a copy for all the pre orders in store, but given they haven't gotten any money from me yet, that seems awfully generous of them.

So who knows. From memory, they produce a LOT of stock for gran turismo, and there will be loads of copies to go around.

Certainly bloody hope so.
