while this is sure to get lost in the excitement of today, it's worth noting.

it looks like you get a car from your birth year on your birthday. so my starter car is a 1984 starion rally car! (because my birthday is today)

How do you unlock the TG track in arcade ? Did some A spec , but now I want to do some nice races on the TG track...

i think its level 4 you unlock it at, or 5. its not much.

only done a few licenses, a couple of races, and just exploring of the features. but loving every second of this. :)
 
Install has been stuck at '2 mins left' for 10 minutes now here. Judging from the flashing orange / green disk activity lights however I'm assuming it's not frozen but still going... :)
 
Happiest I've been at the arrival of the game - Getting stuck in now. Done B and A license, Sunday Cup and FF challenge.

First car was a FTO, looking forward to finding something to upgrade to in the used car lots :D

Had a sweet moment earlier, I had gone a bit wide and unsettled the car, so gave it full lock and throttle and smoked the outside tyre a bit :D

An excellent game so far, can see lots of improvements have been made, well worth the wait.
 
Does anyone know if you can unlock more rims for premium cars? I just bought an EK9 and I noticed that there is a VERY small selection. In GT4, you had a variety.
 
This morning flew by as I hadn't been thinking about GT much at work. But now this afternoon sucks. I want to go home and start the install process and start the 4 day weekend of Gran Turismo 5.
 
Even with install these loading times are brutal. It takes me awhile to get from menu to menu. I see the game installs more data as you go so hopefully things get better.
 
1 minute 50 seconds left of install. I'm shaking in my boots with anticipation!\

edit: 40 seconds! Ahhh!!!

You need to progress in the topgear special event. Look for more details in the Q&A thread, because I don't wanna give away any spoilers.
The same holds for the Nordschleife btw..
 
Does anyone know how you unlock the Nurburgring Norschleife?

Cant seem to find out anywhere..

Is it anything to do with the Mercedes challenge in the Special mode or do you unlock it when you get to a certain level?
 
"35 seconds remaining"....three minutes later..."1 second remaining." lol just kidding.

This was close. It was 35 Seconds for 3 minutes then went to 3 seconds.
 
I just played online mode. And it is really best mode of them all.

Connection is lightfast, I have currently only 512kb/s adsl2+ and this works like magic i mean no lags, full 16 player race with everybody talkin mics...


I'm crying now. PD done outstanding job ! Network code is GODLY !

Have to say i somewhat agree :nervous:

The same old familiar grind!

With The lack of leaderboards, I find I have to ask myself, what's the point? again.

I was disapointed with GT4, withdrawing online at the very last minute ,after hyping it up, in what seemed a rather long wait at the time :crazy:, and I only had a short term alliance with it in the end because of that.

Now 6 years waiting, im sure they will make amends, Prolgue was in the right direction after all, but online is still looking really rather primitive in the modern world.

With the beautiful mass of cars PD made available along with the slightly dissapointing track list, but without any hot lapping, it seems to me to be just like just such a huge waste or missed opportunity again, especially if you can't commit to specific times for racing with friends of similar ability.
Come on PD even GTHD had leaderboards.

As it looks at the moment, some of the game design choices show PD missing out on a few Tricks once again.

I bought my PS3 day 1 in anticipation of GT and GT5 is only my 6th title on the system :guilty:
Maybe ive been around GT too long, being the plus side of 40 and having been spoilt by the facilities of other racers over the last few years, i cant help feeling a short term daliance with the latest offering awaits again.
 
Been stuck on "4 seconds remaining" on the installing data screen for the past 10 minutes lol.

Edit: installation complete straight after posting this.

What? Once you complete a lap it doesn't give you the chart, and what position are you in the world etc, like in Prologue??

Is there a way to map gas and brakes to R2 and L2 instead of X and Square?

Also, I was never offered the chance to do the full install... can't find it in any of the menus either :(

It is in the options setting in the main menu.
 
this is what we have been waiting for ......the 3D is the worst I have seen and the graphics are substandard for a game in 2011...I have been racing other simulators and see nothing in this that is even close...I will pay for quality...what happened
 
Installing every course and option available on the disk atm. The game has been unable to connect to the servers, although I got the patch w/o issues.

I can not find anywhere the option of importing GT5p cars and data. Sorry if I missed it.

I can't believe the G25 and G27 are not listed in the settings after all these years. I know you can set them up, but come on PD.

:lol:, thats what i asked my self until i reached level 12 and had the first race at nordschleife in the lupo cup cars... i read somewhere that you unlock the ring at a higher level ;)

you would think in how many months they could have put in a G27 wheel
 
I found something the Standard cars are good for last night. Paint colors! Won the Demio from doing the B License. It was a nice metallic orange color. Needless to say my Kart is now that color. :)
