Much better if they add tools to create you own custom championship IMO after A-Spec is "finished" along with tougher AI
 
Guys I would like your opinion. Since I can't yet create my own threads and I can't seem to find any similar threads I'll just ask here:

How do you find the loading times? I'm fine with them, but the people I know (from another site) keeps complaining about the loading.

Anyway - I uploaded a video on youtube about the loading times and I would like to know if this is was you would consider long loading times.

Also another thing that i forget to mention in my initial rant :D
The brake implimentatioin with ABS turned off is just wrong.
A slight application of brake with no ABS will not lock tyres in real life.
Without ABS you can heavily apply the brakes( in a progressive manner) while traveling at speed due to the way downforce works and you will not get tyre lockup. Only when speed drops do you then ease off the pedal to prevent lockup.
This is how brakes work!
Not in GT though.
Even the slightest squeeze on the brakes with no ABS wil result in lockup. Am using G27 wheel and pedals and race iRacing alot along with netKar and rfactor and rarely get lockup.

That is just bollocks. Braking is fine without ABS.

Edit: When I say fine, it is challenging and nuanced, but to say the slightest squeeze locks them up is rubbish.

Update: braking is not fine without abs, issue is as described in quoted post. Please see later post for clarification.

I guess they are not too bad for a console game.
Seeing that I normally play everything on PC though, goin back to the PS3 the loading times are a pain in the ass.

If you apply the same level of breaking you would use in any other sim or in a real car you will lock the tyres.
If by challenging and nuanced you mean, not very well implimented then yes it's not.

I found loading times to be fine, a little longer than GT5P, but nothing out of the ordinary. A chance to drink beer.

However, I'm in Australia, and we usually have our own online servers for the the region. I think the North American servers have been melting. Apparently if you sign out of psn it all goes back to normal.

Seems about normal to me. Remeber GT5 has load all the other cars in the race too, it all adds up.
Prologue was about the same loading time. But the 2nd GT logo screen when you exit back out seems to be lagging a bit, due to the server loads right now

Since you've just decided to sign up to GTPlanet today and vent your dissappointment with GT5, I'm going to have to take your assessment of how the braking in the game at race speeds compares to it's real life equivalent with a grain of salt.

I can confirm though, that I've been driving with all aids off in a variety of vehicles and have not encountered brake lock with the slightest touch, although if you're hammering down a straight in a 450hp supercar, and slam on the brakes, expect to spin out.

I imagine that equates to real life with reasonable accuracy.

Update: I'm an idiot. Braking without abs is ok in the small hatches, but i was basing my comments above on the Cobra from the chrome line that comes with CE. When I went to drive it last night, ABS was set to 1. Turns out that while I had ABS off on the Civic and it braked ok, I hadn't changed it for the Cobra. When I turned it off on the Cobra, the brakes locked with the tiniest touch, just as described.

I never "slam" the brakes. I progressively apply them. As I said I race iRacing and other sims and never experienced this. It feels as though it's not registering progressive application for me. More of an on/off for me anyway. Maybe it's an issue with G27 and GT5? What wheel you guys using?

Maybe. I'm using the DFGT. Lots of guys with G25/G27 say they work fine out of the box, but perhaps the calibration is out. That would be a bummer.

Update: issue is the same with DFGT. Please see earlier post for clarification.

me ds3 ! in previous posts some members said that the settings for the brake pedal aren't correct,but don't take my word for it
 
@MarcusarilliuS I just checked your post history, and given that you actually joined a while back and your first post was about a sim, you probably do have a little more credibility than I have granted you. Apologies if I was overly dickish. I'm a bit amped about this game.

I mostly race older cars that don't even have ABS such as vintage grand prix cars and vintage sports cars so have developed quite a subtle toe ;)

Any ideas on how to calibrate the wheel for GT as I couldn't see any options?

It is a great game!! If there is actually a calibratioin issue with the G27 though that would make sense. Hope it's solvable.

As for any game, you should know that if you're a seasoned sim-racer ;) It's advisable that you turn your wheel full lock left-right, one or two times, and stomp on the pedals to the end couple of times every time you load the game up and you're on the track..

No, it's not officially supported, although a lot of guys here are using it, so maybe searching will get you some help. I do remember in Amar's original preview one of his first comments was that ABS set to 1 was essential, which I found a little odd, especially now after playing without it.
 
Never had to do that for any other game before once i calibrated it initially but will give it a try. Also anyone know how to map the handbrake to a button on the wheel? There is no option for G27 so dunno which wheel picture to change settings on.
 
PD really went crazy with fireworks. I do think this is a nice touch because Gran Turismo needs some personality and atmosphere with races. I don't think fireworks go off as often in real life as they do in this game according to a few videos I have seen.

I agree completely. I take it you have ABS set to off then and it is working fine with your G27?
Did you have to do as another member here suggested, turning wheel full lock left/right and stamping on all pedals to calibrate when on track or did it just work?

So stick with 1 then. It feels the best so stick with it mate.
