I think ALMS is just the sponsor of the DLC, like Jalopnik was the sponsor of last month's. Everything has to have a sponsor attached to it nowadays, you know. This is just a guess, though, I'm not sure.

I think the DLC will get better and better cars, more 2011/2012 models for a start, but more DLC like the last ones mix of cars would be most welcome.

and a iconic car/quirky car which would be our favourite Nissan Leaf

getting a similar mix from each DLC I think would be brilliant, What I do think for certain is car packs will come every month, while every 2 months you'll get a track too!

True.... The mix is great, Gives a bit for everybody. And your theory on DLC... that may also be True...

I don't want a mix in each pack. I don't like modern race cars very much in GT5, nor do I like suvs or electric cars, really.
I really like historic cars and moderately powerful modern sports cars.
For me the ideal would be a historic or classic car package, and a sports road car package. With these combination packages that offer a range of car types I'm paying for cars that I won't use much, if at all, and there are dozens of those in gt5 already.

Thats why a mix is a good thing. We haven't been given any REAL NEW racecars yet. About time we had some FIA or something added.

That's fine, but wouldn't you rather have 6 new race cars in one pack, than 6 packs of mixed cars, including ones you have no interest in?

Well I think the broad mix works best, because I'm none to keen on race cars, Sure theyre great from time to time, but I enjoy nothing more than the road legal stuff... With a mix pack (nearly) everyone is happy, if you just had 6 street legal cars or 6 race cars then youre alienating a percentage of your prospective target market.

But I know what youre saying, while youre not saying a mix would be bad, it has to be a mix of good cars. its pointless having 1 epic car and the rest cars like the new Ford Ka. because that would no doubt put off nearly everyone!

That is a good pack, But since its not for GT5 (the game I own I dont long for it) as its like longing for Angelina Jolie, fun to think what if but ultimately youre only wasting time that could be better spent with the girl who likes you from the local corner shop.... SHE DOES LIKE ME I SWEAR!

I also agree variety is the best. Even if its 1 racecar per package as GT class cars are my thing.. then I'd consider it a collection over time.


Just wish the race cars in the car weren't so predictable to who's going to beat who over the long run.
 
I think my point has been missed slightly.

I suppose I should say that I would rather not have to buy every single pack just to get the few cars I'm interested in.

What I like personally has nothing to do with it. I accept that some people like everything that GT has to offer, so for them mixed bags must be great, but not really for me.

I guess I don't like that they're selling rubbish cars (leaf) on the back of good cars.

So I would of course prefer to just be able to buy the ones I'm interested in, I think everyone would feel that way, to some extent. 6 dollars for a bunch of Nissan Micras plus a Pagani Huayra is 6 dollars for the Huayra, even if it says it's a 7 car dlc pack.

Seriously though, I actually like the DLC packs, I bought Car Pack 2 & 3 because they had at least two cars that I either love or think are fairly cool. I would still like to see a UK pack though -_-.

The thing is, if they offer specific packs, these will only be bought by those wanting these specific types of cars, whilst putting in a whole bunch of diverse cars in one pack will ensure they'll be bought by a lot more people buying it for different reasons.
The best way for us players/consumers would be to offer each DLC car individually but then I bet a car like the Nissan Leaf wouldn't be bought much so instead they offer packs which ensures they can charge and collect for every new car offered.
That isn't ideal for us but to PD (or any developer) it surely is.

Perhaps, except I haven't bought any car packs because they each only contain a few cars I kind of want, and they seem a bit expensive because of that.

They seem to be ignoring the fact that GT5 already has a very wide of range of cars, so why would I want pay to add to the collection of cars I almost never drive anyway?

I wouldn't buy every pack if they were "themed", but I would buy some, and the way they are at the moment, I probably won't buy any.

I should add that I am not put off the car packs because I cannot afford them. If it represented decent value I would happily spend plenty of money on GT5 dlc.

So far I have only bought the Spa track pack.
 
I think perhaps the total sales of a diverse pack bought only for a few cars might outnumber the total sales of specific packs (some specific packs may be bought by those who aren't buying diverse packs but perhaps that number isn't significant enough to counterbalance the loss in sales of other specific packs), that alone would justify this decision from a sales perspective.
In other words, there are perhaps more than enough people willing to buy a whole pack for just 1 or 2 cars that they don't have to worry about (put bluntly, ignore) the group who won't buy it because the pack includes cars they won't use.
I'm not defending this decision (even though personally I enjoy a varied pack to be honest, like the last one), just trying to explain why it might be implemented this way and why they perhaps can afford to ignore a group who would be buying DLC if it was offered in another way.
 
You know, I'm going to agree with people who like the variety of cars in DLC packs. Most casual fans aren't going to like having some low-powered car mixed in with faster cars. This is still nothing new to most GT fans because some want the fastest, most exclusive cars and not care about anything mini car or economy car. Debate the selection of cars all you want- Gran Turismo hardly disappoints on the variety front. If you're just a car FAN period, you love to see in a DLC pack a Chevrolet Sonic in GT5 as much as if we get the Audi R18 TDI or the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione.

Don't think you're getting cheated out of your money or anything just because there are certain cars in a pack you don't particularly care for. Be thankful you're getting at least SOME new cars. Think about this too- some of those cars you may not care for may actually surprise you, and who doesn't love a pleasant surprise every now and then? Those are just the thoughts of a salty GT veteran...

I'm as much a veteran of Gran Turismo as anybody, and I'd say I'm much more enthusiastic than the average casual fan.

I never used the word "cheated", only "value". There is no false pretense, you get what you pay for and the content of the dlc is made very clear.

All I'm saying is that whilst many of you may like a lot of variety in your dlc car packs, I'd simply rather see packs containing certain types of cars rather than a random spread. If they were cheaper I would be more likely to buy a car pack just for one or two cars in it.
I don't fancy spending what I paid for the game, again, just adding perhaps half a dozen cars that I actually care about to the large number already there.

I can't see why PD couldn't release the DLC cars as singles as well as packs. If they priced it so that it was better value to buy the packs than individually then most would probably buy the packs but those who wanted just select cars could purchase only those they wanted. For example if a 6 car pack cost $6 and the individual cars were $1.50 each then many would look at that and think it's better to buy the pack as it would cost $9 individually. But if you really only wanted two cars in the pack you could buy just those for $3.
Personally I'd hope the price difference wouldn't be that great if they were to do that.
Even if they released the cars as individual DLC's a certain amount of time after the pack became available (say 3 months) that would be an improvement.

For me I buy the packs anyway, I'm happy to get my hands on any and every car available in the game, but I understand the view point of those who don't and do think everyone can be catered to.
 
While they are at it...why cant they just allow us to buy all the cars that are in the game through a payment? I mean it would be great for the company to get some money and for us, working men with kids and wife and not lot of free time, to finally have a chance to drive the cars we want. Please!!!

Not sure about DLC this time around as the PSN is about to be closed and turned into something else.
