Really? B/c, those same kind of people are on this forum hating Forza for the same reason. ;)

In other words, this goes both ways for GT & Forza; neither side has a lack of "frat kids".

Well of course. It's like when people try to pin a problem on either the Dems or Republicans. You can't blame 1 person without the other.

Anyway, I love Forza, it's a great series, but it just has its obvious flaws. I just don't think games come with the sort of polish that GT games do.

Not everyone. It lingers on both sides. I pointed out that the native resolution of GT5:P was 1080p as opposed to Forza's 720p,

except that what you pointed out is wrong....because GT5:P does NOT have a native resolution of 1080p....

Forza 3 is a great game for every car or automotive racing enthusiast, especially if you have the wheel. I really anjoy it and I see no reason for FM3 hate if you have even 5% love for cars and racing.

However, online has been flawed with the hoppers system and DLC logic is beyond understandable.

You buy DLC with real money and than you have to purchase DLC cars with in-game credits. No real problem there except one - cars are soo expensive that there is no way on earth you can actually afford 80% of DLC cars if you're not spending loads and loads and loads and loads of time grinding the game.

Of course, cars are available in Arcade mode or wothout any modifications in online - in order to make modifications on the car and use it online you have to purchase it to your garage - but it becomes unusable without buying because usualy you can't be competitive without modificated car in paticular online class.

It is mindless vertigo of brokend logic and game design and I really hope they will fix the in-game credit system for the next game.

Somebody on NeoGaf calculated you'd need to invest more than 80 hours of playtime in order to get enough funds to buy all 10 cars only from the first DLC - only from the first one, 10 cars - and that is just plain lunatic.

I would like FM3 more if it didn't claim to be the cutting edge racing simulator. Or the best racing game of nex gen consoles. If they were humble and accepted their game is more arcade than simulation then I would probably like it more

Judging by most game sites, they seem to agree it was the best racing game of next gen. mainly because GT5 wasn't out yet & it was the closest thing.

And it is closer to sim. than arcade.

You can hire a driver - give him a good car and let him drive endurance race. Then go sleep.
But there another problem - when you out of activity (like 10 mins) your gamepad turns off, and game pauses...Maybe you can turn it off - i don't know.

And yes it's all stupid...

The real problem with "hiring a driver" is that virtual driver just can't drive in high-class races and wothout assists - in order to get serious money - and after the race you have to give "him" more than 40% of overall credits for his "services".

It solves nothing. But nevermind, the point remians.

Not everyone. It lingers on both sides. I pointed out that the native resolution of GT5:P was 1080p as opposed to Forza's 720p, and that the lightning tech that Polyphony uses (www.illuminatelabs.com) was superiour to what Forza had..... and then....

BAM an idiot jumps the gun and gets all defensive about Forza how it has X, Y and Z better than GT5:P when the whole point of the discussion was about the graphics.

*sigh*
I'm not surprised an idiot jumped the gun when you provided misinformation about GT5:P! From what I understand, if you are running in 1080p mode, this is what you get:

Menu and showroom: 1920 x 1080
Gameplay: 1280 x 1080
Replays: 1440 x 1080

All upscaled to 1920 x 1080 so your TV fools you when the 1080p mode logo pops up on the screen ;)

I agree, it's a different interpretation of how racing can be presented, and yes it's not like Gran Turismo, but I think it's good to have a variety of options.

I havent downloaded any DLC, sounds like I shouldnt either, that is stupid logic!!!

Road America enduro with an FXX on hard with every assist off and the AI is in first the entire race. 80k or so for an hour of racing.

Sorry, just had to say that.

To be honest, the thing I dislike most about Forza 3 is the over powered nature of all 4wd cars. They have no sense of bogging down in that game. That problem also leads to drag racing. It's garbage. You have no drag tires, no RPM control before you launch, no heating up of tires, so what do you do? You always choose a 4wd car. Cuz more than likely it'll always win. Either that, or you'll be spinning your back tires for an hour as you try to get off the line.

EDIT: Forgot to write a complete sentence =] lmao...

Breaking news is that there is no news about Gran turismo 5!!!!!!!!!!:grumpy:

Breaking news is that there is no news about Gran turismo 5!!!!!!!!!!:grumpy:

But we all know that news will come in June, so you just have to wait for it.

While you wait you can google translate this:

Den som väntar på något gott, väntar aldrig för länge.

Well, I still get to enjoy replays which can fool people into thinking they're watching real life racing film, and that's what matters to me. Not whether the horizontal image is scaled a bit. A 1080p image is 1080p image. We don't watch a screen buffer, after all.

E3 has a definite date, and I don't think they're going to change it to May any time soon. ;)

Yes, 1080p is typically defined as the number of lines of vertical resolution. Assuming a 16:9 image and square pixels, that means there would need to be 1920 lines of horizontal resolution. Any less than that is not true 1080 at that particular aspect ratio, which is what defines a HDTV standard.

Anyway, I aint' debating the quality with ya', I think it looks awesome regardless! 👍

Ah I see.
Native Resolution: 1280x1080 in game & 1440x1080 in replays
Ok so it's 1080 but not 1080P.

Thanks for the clarification. Either way though, it's still visually impressive. I still remember that buzzing feeling of the graphics and taking GT5:P over to a friends house to test out his new 52' Bravia and he was shocked. Reminding us of the days when we were younger hunkered around a PSX playing the original GT.

Can't wait to use a photo mode in GT5... take some screenshots like they've been teasing us with.

Prior to buying Forza I thought it would look as good as the HD screenshots I'd seen all over the internet, needless to say I was underwhelmed when I actually began playing the game. If Forza looked as good in game as it does in the HD screenshots - I couldn't tell you the difference easily between GT5 and Forza.

"A day in the life" ( alternative version ) by Lennon, McCartney and Analog

I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who played the game
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his socks off in a car
He didn't notice that reverse lights had gone
A crowd of pixels stood and stared
They'd seen this game before
Nobody was really sure
If it was from that God of War.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh boy I love that song

It's still 1080p, the p stands for "progressive", it's just not "FullHD", which is the PR description for 1920x1080 pixels progressive.
If you need a further explanation, Google. ;)

All true...

and all completely overshadowed by the biggest problem...

The steering buffer.

;)

I heard Turn10 are going to patch the ingame money problems with Forza 3.

What they're going to do is, take every monetary value in the game and divide the figure by 10. They say that way, cars cost a lot less and are therefore more obtainable.

;)

Can you disprove that claim?

Like has been said already, Forza is far more closer to being a simulator then an arcade racer.

The "P" in "1080p" stands for "Progressive Scan," and since the game does progressive scan at 1080 horizontal lines, it's considered 1080p.

If someone tries to tel you it's NOT 1080p, ignore them. Though the game (gt5p) isn't FULL 1080p. The word full in front means 1920x1080 progressive scan. Since gt5p runs at 1280x1080 it's 1080p, but not full 1080p (also known as "full hd").

But yeah, regardless GT5 is one of the best looking games I have ever seen. So it won't disappoint.
