Can we focus on GT5 news again please?

I asked that one myself too, but it's not really visible on the scans

I couldn't find the same pic of a go-cart with a simple google search so at least they didn't just take any pic. Plus it's been taken in a white room so it's either a promotion picture for a real go-cart or taken ingame. I really hope go-carting makes it into the game because I think that this would take GT5 to a whole new level of realism, noone starts his racing career with winning prize cars at License Tests

I don't care for PC sims. Well, I do like them for what they are, good simulators. But I tire of them quickly and don't go back to them. Heck, I usually go back to GT4.
  • There are a handful of cars in strict racing classes, and in the case of GTR, not all that many. And I usually hate all the liveries.
  • rFactor cars are fake, so are Live For Speed's, save for one or two.
  • The graphics are poor, like PS2 level with better shaders in HD. DON'T LOOK AT THE TREES!!
  • They're clinical and dry, with very little passion.
  • Very few goodies like Photo Mode, and saved images simply show how bad the graphics are.
The A.I. is also nothing remarkable in any of the games I've tried. And I'm not too fond of the idea of going online against people who have been racing for years, perfecting tunes, racing lines, and honing wolfish skills. And frankly, the physics aren't that much better to Prologue, not to me. And certainly not the TT demo.

And don't start proclaiming how wimpy and old the PS3 is in comparison to a modest gaming PC. What's a graphic powerhouse game? There's Crysis for instance, which required quite a bit of work to get as good looking as it is, and you need a pretty beastly gaming rig to get it to run with a high framerate with all the effects and resolution up which will set you back several hundred dollars even leaving off a decent monitor.

Uncharted looks pretty darn close. Prologue looks better. And on a now $300 system.

PC gaming has its place and all, but I, for one, am not buying your viewpoint, and I'm not alone.

Hmm interesting, Rfactor has mods. it has Gran Turismo mods like high speed ring and deep forest :sly: also GT cars such as the Camaro ss :) I have over 200 tracks 500 cars for Rfactor alone. I'ts a great game love it.... It is one game that does so many things and succeeds.

Many thanks, so that's at least cleared up ...I hate this speculation -.-
I expect a lot of people going mad after realising that there won't be a track editor or go-carting, hell we don't even know if weather will be included 👎

GamesCom isn't very far away anymore, at least Kaz didn't deny they were included after that Sony-guy mentioned it.
He wasn't very happy with it but I don't think he said it wasn't accurate ( he didn't say anything about it, just that he wasn't happy with that anouncement if I remember correctly ).
Which I guess if it was a mistake he would have said so ( or Sony would ), at least that would seem to me the logical thing to do.

That's why I always said, don't expect it and you won't be disappointed.

An unwary poster would label it as a negative and pessimistic attitude, but knowing PD as we do, it's the best approach to take on any unconfirmed feature.

I love real-life karting and there is a lot of room for it in GT5, Motorland and Motor Sports Land ( From GT2 ) are undeniably karting tracks, so karting can be a good alternative to K cars to use in these tracks.

That's not even my problem right now, go-carting is one thing that could be awesome but it's also one thing I didn't miss in previous GT games, so I wouldn't mind if it's not included in the end. My problem with the situation is, that there are so many rumored, but not really confirmed features like weather, stunt arenas, track editor, go-carting, livery editor, etc.
The hype is getting bigger and bigger and people out there are expecting all those features because they aren't as up to date as we are here at GTP, and I can't really believe that everything will make it into the final game.
A full, official list of features is what we need at Gamescom.

Um I don't know where to post this but here goes.
Using my DFGT I looked in the center and thought hey that's cool place for a horn.

I never seen a horn mentioned before so I suppose I'm just bonkers.
Just incase though, has a horn been mentioned or confirmed before?

I really hope not.

Sorry but i have to ask... Do you play Rfactor online? There is a guy named GT ACE....
Nope.

Yes, actually Prologue already should have had a horn feature and the DFGT was said to support it, dunno why they scratched that. I'm not quite sure if it's really confirmed, but it was also mentioned for GT5.

I think in the final version the horn function will be in. PD staff have been reported to record horns too in addition to sounds. Also I don't think that the "horn button" on the DFGT is there just for looks.
I imagine people will be able to change it in the "GT Auto" section of the game.
I'm already picturing hordes of people swapping the standard horn of their Dodge Charger with a Dixie one :)

For the go kart, Couldn't we just look at the driver to see if he was a "GT avatar", most likely looking for a GT sticker on his helmet? Whatever, I guess its not certain though.

I bought my DFGT excited that I could use this horn in prologue.. I was soon disappointed.

will the cars and credit i earned in prologue automatically transfer over to GT5? This has troubled me for some time now.can anyone help?

It is the Kyosho Kart I posted, nothing else.

Exactly, when they were trying to see if it were from GT, we could've just looked if it was a GT avatar driving it.. But you've already found it so it doesn't matter.

I thought horns were confirmed recently for GT5, it's a funny addition in my opinion and maybe when flashing your lights to signal that you want to overtake online doesn't work you could use your horn.
Real life simulation isn't just replicating the sympathetic stuff I'm afraid, maybe GT6 will finally bring rude hand gestures........hope not.:)

Believe me, if it was that obvious to see many would've already spotted it.:)

They are also useful if you want to have a "horn battle" ala Best Motoring! :D

I think that Sony guy you are talking about is actually the President of SCE

Kaz was probably not too thrilled that he disclosed that info instead of gamescon and may be TGS as well. They would like to give some new, interesting info there.

There is also the possibility that those features aren't done yet and it's still unclear whether Kaz puts them into the final game. Like he once said, weather is practically done, but if he thinks that the system's quality is not high enough for the game, it won't make it in. Of course, it could have been just mistranslated but as this interview was being published on the official PS website chances for a mistranslation aren't really high.

Yeah we do not know for sure but I think leaking out such info by SCE president cannot be wrong or it will be implemented sooner or later ? I think weather would be really complicated. May be only on few tracks will support it or we get only damp, dry tracks. No actual rain during the race

Imagine online, horns going, lights flashing.
I think I'll have a seizure.

They said at a interview at le mans which I can't find that you can flash your lights, turn them on and off on premiums and that all cars have horns,

Yeah premiums have flashy lights, standards have auto lights. And I did hear cars have horns. Running out of buttons by now.

In the background, next to the Red Viper... is that a 08/09 Mustang GT500 I see? The white car, looks like it has the wheels, side decals and rear spoiler of a GT500 Stang?

It's the same Mustang from GT5:P
