i have just discovered that on australian electronics company JB HI FI they have more details on the signature edition along with which free cars will be in the chrome and stealth packs.
from what i can see a special edition lamborghini Murcielago, Audi R8, BMW M5, SL300 "Gullwing" Mercedes & a special shelby cobra are in the "chromline pack while a Nissan GTR, A Mercedes SLS AMG (already confirmed), McLaren F1, Nissan R92CP, Honda NSX and some kind of LeMans top class Racer are getting the stealth treatment

if the picture does not work here is the link

Yup already been dissected here about a week ago but cheers for posting 👍

Great post SHIRAKAWA Akira!! Props!

Nurburgring Load time video.
GT4, GT5, Forza 2, Forza 3, and PGR4 all in the comparison

It depends on which version of the Ring is used, the old version in GT5 loaded pretty quicky

There are tricks to make the track appear to load faster. PD could make it load while the player is selecting car settings, for example.

It's already animating the track in background while he is setting his options, so it's loaded and ready

I mean: they could first show a fixed background image or a slide show of images of the track, and then show the 3d animation after it's been loaded silently in the background, while the player looks at the grid, sets up the car, etc.

Here is a video of the new Nurb track in GT5. Load times aren't bad here.

I don't care about load times. We have waited this game for over 5 years so it doesn't matter if load times are 5 seconds or 5 minutes :D

I was happy with GT5:P's loading times - very impressive use of "stealth caching".

And thanks for the translation, SHIRAKAWA Akira - a good portion of that I didn't know, or had forgotten about :dopey:

In the video CoolColJ posted, our player spent a full 62 seconds in the car selection screen; it then took a further 31 seconds before the circuit finally showed up (i.e. roughly the same as in the comparison video, above) - some of this load time is down to loading of opponent cars (which are selected almost immediately, but then take time to load).

In short, the load times aren't optimised in these demos like they were in GT5:P; the time spent in the car selection screen is more than adequate (in this case) to load up the track; although, there's the added difficulty of quickly loading a car up when the player selects it, or scrolls through them for viewing; this takes bandwidth away from pre-caching the circuit. Not to mention, the Nürburgring is a rather large circuit / complex anyway...

Wowzers, that Corvette sound is a new and unkown pleasure for my ears!

I think loading times is not an issue at all. I can wait if tracks are of nice detail and have 16 cars on track

EDIT: Feb this year could equal February this financial year :nervous: Oh these days are painful.
That wouldn't make sense because months don't move within fiscal calendars the way quarters do. February is still February in a fiscal calendar, but it may fall within the fourth quarter, Q4.

Here are the gamescom Awards nominees, GT5 is nominated for a few major awards

The winners will be announced next Friday.

Anybody think that the full car list will be at Tokyo Game Show 2010 (TGS10)?

^^ It's synthesized, as always...
Get real, PD just uses different waveforms, filters, resonance, filter/amp envelope etc for every car.
I can make the same with my little Waldorf Blofeld (I've already replicated Batman's bike from The Dark Knight).
The worst sound is the one of the F430/458 Italia. They have the same engine, they sound the same in GT5P and demos but they're nothing like real life. I know not only because I've heard them from videos but also because I've driven a F430 spider and recorded the sound myself.
I've always supported PD but until they use recorded sounds from real cars it will never be a pleasure for my ears.

T10 got them right, especially the Maserati GranTurismo.

You'll have the full car list once the game will be released.

Don't think so, and don't want a full car list actually.
It's nice when you unlock a car and you didn't expect it to be in or something like that...

Completely agree 👍

Part of the anticipation is wanting to know what cars are in the game. I'm going to bet they'll hold back a couple of major manufacturers until release.

Half of the fun when you first put the game in your console is searching through all of the dealers to see what cars there is. I know I did this with GT1-4, I doubt it will change for GT5.

I think I'd prefer it if they didn't release the car list either, it will be nice to look through the car dealerships when the game is released. I'm still hoping they'll have MG in the game and I don't want a car list to squash those hopes. :nervous:

This is not really news, but I found some additional information known through interviews at the E3 that I didn't know, on the japanese BBS 2ch:

The only new things are the first 2 points as far as I'm aware. The rest is from E3, the honda twitter interview, and I think that's it.

Dood, what?

In the latest builds, PD only use synthesis as a backup / aid, to add extra detail to the sound.
They've used recorded samples since GT2, and their synthesis techniques represent the very cutting edge of digital synthesis (example).

It doesn't excuse the occasional inaccuracy of the samples, though. I suppose you could argue that using samples to give the final sound is no different to using wavetables...

Makes little to no sense to use that as proof of loading times since it isn't the newest build of the game. That was a demo from what, 6 months ago? We have videos from 2 weeks ago from the PS beta event where the load times are close to 25 seconds. Wouldn't that be a much better indicator of the final load times since it's the latest build of the game?

True, but there´s little we haven´t seen yet. 830 from the PSP version, plus 200+ premium models. Of those 200, we´ve seen more than 100, so not a lot of surprise.

(Read back all KY interviews if you think the standard models are not the ones on GT PSP).

Not every car from GTPSP is confirmed (As you know, considering the bit you put in brackets :p). They could come across licensing issues.

At one point Aston Martin looked doubtful for GT5. We still have no confirmation on them, only information from an inside source that they are modelling the Gulf Livery DBR9 Race car. But we've had Porsches and Lamborghinis modelled in the past that haven't been in the game, so anything can happen.

And ~100 new cars is a lot. More than most other driving games have anyway.

Aston martin has been in every GT since the first, I wouldn't expect them just to drop them off. Plus, taking that the models in prologue are premium models, The DB9 is also confirmed. It was odd that they weren't in GTPSP, but again, not all of them are PSP models. Who knows, Maybe there saving the whole aston martin brand to be premium :D (Which I would love)!

Something I do agree on however (And have said before), people really take 200 cars like a tiny amount, In fact, Its a very large amount. The average racing game (Not necassarily a simulator) has around 50 cars, Right now were getting 4x that amount. Premium doesn't mean All, Your still getting (The incredible amount of) cars from GT4 (And PSP). So the number doesn't bother me at all (And in my opinion, shouldn't bother anyone at all).

There was nothing ODD about it, they didn't have the license at the time.
However seeing that FAMINE confirmed the DBR9, nevermind, the DBR9 being in has likely nothing to do with AM.
