I hope Aston is still in b/c I really want to drive the One-77.

It doesn't excuse the occasional inaccuracy of the samples, though. I suppose you could argue that using samples to give the final sound is no different to using wavetables...

Occasional?! ;)

We know roughly 9/10 of the car lineup. Those 100 or so left unknown have a whole lot of ground to cover...

So the number doesn't bother me at all (And in my opinion, shouldn't bother anyone at all).
Far be it from me to say what should and should not bother others, but I do agree - 200 premium cars is itself a huge number. To play all cars from past GT games is icing on the cake.

The loading times depend on where the data is being loaded from.

The read speed of the hard drive is a lot faster than the read speed of a blu-ray or a DVD. (Depending on what rpm your HDD runs, it's something like 5x as fast as reading from the disc)

It appears to me as though the older demo builds, with smaller file sizes, were loaded from the harddrive, hence the fast loading times.

The E3 Demo (And later), with a greater variety of tracks and cars, appear to be loaded from a Blu-ray disc, hence the longer loading speeds.

If GT5 has an install option (Or a part install option) the loading speed will be faster than the latest demos we have seen. The best thing to do is part install, so load items from both the disc and the HDD at the same time, many other games do this to decrease loading times.

I can't be sure (Unless someone knows if they were on disc or installed at the various demo setups), but how else can you explain that the older demos (Not Just the Nurburgring, i'm talking about all of them from the CES and TGS demos) have dramatically faster loading times than the new ones?

I think I'd prefer it if they didn't release the car list either, it will be nice to look through the car dealerships when the game is released. I'm still hoping they'll have MG in the game and I don't want a car list to squash those hopes. :nervous:

Hopefully MG will be in I would love a recreation of the Midget. Even though Triumph has been in I want MG as well. I've owned both.

Dood, what?

In the latest builds, PD only use synthesis as a backup / aid, to add extra detail to the sound.
They've used recorded samples since GT2, and their synthesis techniques represent the very cutting edge of digital synthesis (example).

It removes detail, it makes the cars sound...digital, and therefore unrealistic. Too much synthesis.
The bottom line is that Turn10 nailed the sounds and PD didn't. If they won't replace all of them (which will never happen) I'll be disappointed.

News to me. Has any game on console nailed the sounds??

I know PD didn't... But some may surprise us. We may have a lot of car confirmations, but we have only heard the finished sounds of around 50-60 cars. And some of them are actually pretty decent. Others, aren't (The 458 Italia being probably the best example).

If ( and it looks to be the case ) most GT4 cars will make a comeback, at least 2 versions of the MG F will be included ( so the brand is probably in as it was in GT4 ).

Makes little to no sense to use that as proof of loading times since it isn't the newest build of the game. That was a demo from what, 6 months ago? We have videos from 2 weeks ago from the PS beta event where the load times are close to 25 seconds. Wouldn't that be a much better indicator of the final load times since it's the latest build of the game?

The track loads up fast anyway, it's just the cars that load slow. 2-3 second each car when in the selection screen, multiplied by the number of different cars in the race adds up

Turn 10 has better sounds then GT yes, but they didnt nail them lol far from it. you sir should play a game called GTLegends and tell me how that sounds:sly:

All of you speaking of sounds makes me wonder if they'll focus more on the premium cars rather than all the cars together.

And I'm only wishing this because I want them to nail the 787B's sound, even more so since it's premium.

You should be more worried if kaz gives us a rim choice of CragerSS's

Well guys I check this site daily hoping of some new news, and I am always pleased to read what everybody has to say. I quit going to the main GT forum and just come hear now. I played a little GT5P tonight by myself with the lights out and the headphones on sitting in my rig. I jumped into the Aston and went to Daytona. First 15 minutes I was placing at about 2200 thinking I am sucking bad so I plug at for about a half hour and started to murder my time. I ended up placing in the lower 400's and I got to thinking that is pretty good.

While driving at pro settings using the clutch and pedals you can almost really feel the tires starting to loose traction and your ass end slip out when you come hauling butt to turn one at the top of 5th gear, and your on the brakes so heavy into that turn, god I love it. If anyone is on the fence about getting a wheel and rig to sit in, do not wait if you play GT5 for six months and then decide to get one you will just be mad at yourself that you didn't have it at the beginning of the birth of GT5. :)

Then I took the Tuned Clio to Eiger, that car is such a blast to run on that track it revs so high and you will spend most of your time in 2nd gear on that track sideways through the curves. This track I didn't excel as much as Daytona I ended up placing around 1400 which is high. Just thought I would share my evening at home alone with GT5 while the wife and kid are away.

Good night.

^^ ^^
It's great to hear that someone is still enjoying the game. I bought Prologue the first day it arrived in NA along with a G25 and it had me busy until I sold the PS3 three months ago.

LOL Did you Turn PC? Please tell me you didn't go Forza 3 on me?

Sorry, but half of the time you guys are nitpicking on each other in stead of discussing gt5.
Hope November comes fast

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a trailer where every car in the game goes past on a track :) would take some making though lol and would go on for like 10 mins!

Just goes to show how mature you are.. :indiff:

One name saying he rocks, with an 89 camaro.. The other name saying he probably rocks with a DW Kit racked with enough Sabian cymbals to equal the value of that camaro... Who shall win?

:D

But seriously, Does it make a difference if he did "Turn PC", or go "Forza"?... You know in your heart that Gran turismo is probably the best racing game out there, and thats all you need to know. One can think the exact same about Forza, but does it make a difference?

This is a video of Kazunori saying himself that GT5 would be out in 2010 back in 2008, i just found it very interesting as any video with Yamauchi.

Ferrari 330 P4, which was in development by PD during TGS 2009 studio tours.
