However it is somewhat costly and can present an accommodation problem depending on one's living space.
Plus I do like the ease and convienence of using the the sixaxsis controller.
Then of course there's the potential problem of selling honey bunny on the idea, of which I'm confident she would refer to as a monstrous ugly contraption taking up valuable space better suited for something else.
A fold up rig maybe better suited here.
During the long wait for GT5 I have been contemplating such a move, but will probably wait to see how it plays and compares to wheel players.
Don't you people have desktops? stick a PC monitor on the desk, hook up the PS3 to it, bolt the wheel to the desk, works as well as anything
I absolutely 100% understand your concerns and considerations. I live in a studio flat with my wife (for those that may be unfamiliar with the term, it's one room with a separate bathroom and kitchen....the studio flat, not the wife
) and getting a wheel was a very hard decision. WHere do you store it? How much of your useable and limited living space does it occupy?
And absolutely, you have to consider the other person. If you have just one desktop for the pc, how considerate is it for you to just clamp your wheel assembly to it to her eternal inconvenience? Do you just leave the wheel + rig in front of the TV all the time and take up all the living space? Can you afford to get a Wheelstand Pro considering it's another £100?
For the first year my wheel was attached to a plank which sat on two shoeboxes which sat on two chairs facing each other, that's half the damn flat's furniture. And every time I was finished I had to pack the whole lot away. Massive burden and inconvenience, even for someone who plays GT5P as much as I do (every day pretty much). Many days I didn't even pack it down through a degree of laziness, and my partner just had to put up with it to her eternal credit, but you have to ask yourself if you are ready to put someone through all of that.
So to just come out with a comment like "Don't you people have desktops?" does not take into consideration the living arrangements of many people. Living in what basically amounts to Central London, a studio flat is expensive enough! Don't assume to know anything about the housing arrangements of others.
But I will say, getting the wheel even in such a small place, has been 100% the best gaming purchase of my life. Not a shred of regret, ever. And when you can, a Wheelstand pro is a good purchase too.
