My money is still on the tunnel being down the Eiger trail towards Alpiglen, (and back up along the railway) as it seems the best fit with the little information we have. Given the amout of Dynamite they must have used to obliterate half of Capri, it would be foolish to underestimate what their construction company is capable of.
If you're suggesting a looping circuit, I think it could end up being too long: 12.5 Km. Not that there aren't longer circuits in the game, but I'm not sure it would be the case here. This is what I've come up with basing on your indications:

I think I've run out of things to say about this until we see something new, but here's a shot where you can see the lights from the tunnel winding around in the distance. You can just make out they're using an artificial roof rather than building it into the rock, so that should save on dynamite.

It could also be that the 3D model of the tunnel there wasn't supposed to show the rock above :)
In other words, that PD didn't bother to model things other than the tunnel there.

I agree we need more information. Incredible how the game will be out soon and yet we know so little about the tracks included.

I am expecting it to be quite a long track, but obviously I don't know where it starts or ends exactly (or anything in between)
After thinking about what syagre said, I think the tunnel will stay around 2000 meters, with the top exit alongside the Grindelwald railway instead of up towards Eigergletscher, that would explain why we see a tunnel exit surrounded by trees. I think that would cut off a few miles from your route too.

Maybe, I remember the days when you'd be lucky to see the opposite side of a barrier! I think the cliff is visible too but that's not the best frame to show it, it's mostly hidden bihind a pillar. That type of tunnel is pretty common for keeping off snow and rocks though, like the tunnel they made for the Prologue track.

Well I just remember a post that some user did, this post (I think was from a magazine) shows a longer route of eiger,I'm sure of this because I saw it like a lot of users did as well, unfortunately I wasn't able to find the photo but everything that you guys describe fits into that screenshot, not saying that is confirm but it seems like PD was working on it.

I hope you guys find that screenshot, you guys can find it easily!!!!!!

OK, before someone finds a photo.. here is my final word on it after rewatching the trailer and finding each section on google earth!

a3qKD.jpg

Blue section is tunnel, we see this anticlockwise, some corners are guesses.
White section is outdoors and viewable in the trailer, this goes clockwise from the tunnel exit.
Red section is assumed sections, the western join is easier to guess than the eastern one...
Finally, yellow lines are walls we can see from lower sections of the track.
Edit: Added the top of the old track in black for reference, the east track is over twice as long.

Too late to start adding screenshots to each corner, but if you're interested you should be able to see how it works. The giant corner in the middle will be wrong, probably a zig zag over the hill instead of one continuous turn.

Oh yeah and the North face of the Eiger has definitely gone AWOL in that trailer, either because of unfinished optimisation or to prevent identification!

That looks a bit like a mirrored Citta di Aria, only longer, probably wider and with a slightly steeper average gradient:

Citta_di_aria.gif

Anyway, from Google Earth it looks plausible and consistent with what can be seen in the video.

eig10.jpg

The average slope is 9.5%.
I made some modifications to make the road less steep in some spots.

Nice, how do you work out average slope again?

Here is my version with some corrections to my earlier drawing. The biggest slopes come at the far end where I run out of clues, I know it gets up that hill somehow.

Edit: I think I've finished now.
Eiger_Nordwand_East_01.kmz

Looks good so far, with overall not too extreme slopes.
If you show the elevation profile on google earth, the last information provided by the upper row in the road elevation part is the average slope. I just noticed it provides two averages, one for the upward slope and one for the downward slope. You might need to enlarge the window to check it out, this is the reason why it didn't appear in my previously posted image.

Your track has got a 9.7% average upward slope, 11.3% average downward slope. Slopes don't cancel themselves out in the calculation.

Most of you have probably seen this, but here is a good list of confirmed tracks from wikpedia for thoses who havn't. (also lists tracks in other pd releases)

For a speculative but plausible list for GT5, have you checked this page?

Nice find :)

I updated the "confirmed/spotted tracks" list. If we consider the "Eiger Trail" track as separate from Eiger Nordwand (as it doesn't seem it will have sections in common with it), there would be 30 individual tracks, confirmed/spotted as of now:

Color guide

[TEMP. NAME] = Temporary name. The track name might differ in the final build.
Blue = Confirmed tracks (seen and recognized from screenshots or videos). Variations of these tracks that have not been properly confirmed (guessed or coming from anecdotal sources) are in bright red color.
Bright red = Tracks seen in videos or screenshot but not yet properly identified. They could end up being Course Maker tracks.

Nice work on this list. I'm expecting the FT-86 track to be Eiger East, and will join up to form Eiger Long, a bit like how Cape Ring works. They might even join together over the train tracks in the station somehow.

I saw a listing somewhere that showed a few more Nascar tracks Bristol Speedway for example. I don't know if it accurate but after having watched the video of GT5 and Nascar I would be surprised if there are not a few more Nascar tracks which are not on the lists here.

Hoping for Watkins Glen.

At this point everything is possible. However in my opinion the long version of Eiger Nordwand will extend to the West of it (if you've noticed in GT5P there is a closed road following the railway at the long hairpin), not to the East downhill where the "Eiger Trail" is located.

I think that was a completely made-up list. In my lists I tried to be plausible and find sources whenever possible. Certainly, if Nascar is included, Bristol would be an iconic oval that would just have to be included too. However there are no clues pointing to this. Probably there's more hope for Texas Motor Speedway since the PD staff visited it.

I'm not too sure that's Monaco. I can't find a left turn on the track that has those trees on the inside. I'm very hessitant on this one although I suspect it is another track that hadn't been confirmed before.

It's Monaco.

Abit of a noob question here but if the topgear test track is in GT5 then wouldn't it be safe to assume that the test track short circuit would be included also ?, from the MOTHERS SUPERMINI test episode ?

If it uses already existing portions of the track, why not? If it does I'd say it's very possible as it's only a matter of closing down parts of the track. Could you upload an image or a mockup of the layout of this short version?

By the way, if it's in, TGTT would be yet another track with both a short and a long variation.
