Late recap of the MONZA race
First I didn't feel like there was much to add on top of rynedee recap and I'm not even sure how this whole recap thingy started haha, but after some thought about it, I'd like to share my POV as well as other thoughts about how I raced.
NOTE: this recap isn't going to be stricly about what happened but what my thoughts after reviewing the race.
I had a bad launch in the beginning and crashed into the first chicane wall as I was not used to the cold tires ( i usually play most of my GT5 offline). As my tires warm up I feel great about how my car is performing and lock onto scuudz. As I pass him on the chicane 2nd lap (i think). Now because I haven't been playing online at all, I admit my passes were very agressive. Scuudz had the better driving line but all I was thinking about at the moment was to pass and I took the shortcut to pass. I respect scuudz for not hitting me on the chicane as I cut the corners when HE had the better driving line. Ill go on to how I passed batman but will come back to this point, just follow me if your reading this recap.
As I'm gaining on battman I had the same kind of instinctive behavior and because I was following battman so closely I decide to cut the corner again because I didn't want to rear end him or slam on the brakes. At the moment I thought it wasn't too bad of a decision if I just touch his car. It became obvious that the choice I made was a bad one as my car tapped his. In competitive racing I understand that touching can happen but tapping is dirty when the situation can be avoided. I take the lead as I see battman swerve a bit but didn't feel good about the pass because it wasn't clean.
After that pass I kind of relaxed and just ran solid laps and knew I was going to win as battman spun out a few times and I only once.
Now what I did few hours after the race and the next day was play online alot. I wanted to get used to the racing enviroment so I dont make those kinds of unclean passes. Also what I noticed while racing online was that the draft is quite strong. SO really there is no need to make risky passes. better to follow closely and use the draft to pass when the chance reveals itself. This is also goes back to the point I made when I passed scuudz. After I saw the replay of scuudz braking hard so that he didnt come into contact with me, while he had the better position, made me think twice about how I raced. So thanks scuudz for teaching me a lesson haha.
although I won this race to me it felt somewhat of a pyrrhic victory. lol I always wanted to use that word pyrrhic but never got the chance, now I said it in proper context

. anyways I hope to see more of you guys next week for a clean and intense battle!
EDIT
If anyone read my original post I said something about scuudz in season 1 but that was actually sonic. LOL so i took it out. Don't worry I said good things but that was sonic haha. If you didn't read my unedited post than please disregard this message.
