Why do you say that (just curious)?
Looking strictly at patterns, the IGN review should be very soon. NFS releases 11/16 and was reviewed on 11/8. By that pattern, GT5 would be reviewed by tomorrow, 11/16. Although, who knows if it was received with the same release date gap (I don't see why not with these leaked videos of completed games).
I think a major thing that changes dates is how long it would take to play and utilize all of GTs features, compared to how long it would take to utilize all of the features of NFS. BIG DIFFERENCE
I think reviews will be high across the board...
1 it's GT - this is a known name that carries a lot of hype and belief behind it
2 There are some super sexy cars and tracks - unless the reviewer is a die hard nut like GTP fans they will probably spend most of their time playing premiums and not experience much standard issues so the downsides from standards will probably be under played.
3 Weather and night on a few tracks only might be missed as simply being "that track" rather than a feature that was expected to be used across the board and turned out to only be on a handful of tracks.
4 Bullet points - GT has big numbers, high polys and a lot of things that sound good... sounds good sells.
Unless the reviewer they choose is actually a long time GT fan who has focused a lot on GT over the years (and with the life of a game reviewer where tehy have to play a lot of games pretty much constantly who would fit that bill?) I think the review will cover a lot of the gloss and ignore a lot of the underlying dissapointment netting high scores.
There are already sites reporting the fact you cannot change wheels on standards...and who do they quote as their source, this forum. So blame the nitpicking guys on this forum for low review scores.

The critics keep on complaining about the stiff camera.![]()
It should get a 10, what kind of game developer provides a game with so much content at a price for 60 dollars?
You'll be driving a car around a trackThere we go, gameplay considered
To me, the gameplay will be all about the physics and force feedback implementation, not something that can really be discussed well until we get our hands on the game. After that AI, again hard to judge until you're playing it. We can see from vids the AI is capable of overtaking and stuff, but its not until you play it can you figure out how well it operates in packs, how quickly it can corner while simultaneously avoiding another car, etc.
I was almost forgeting: Damages.
Simulators are not supposed to reproduce damages. Consider a level-d full motion boeing 737 full flight simulator, which costs something like 10 million dollars. It perfectly reproduces physics, aircraft systems, motion and failures. But if you have the plane crashed, all you will get is a red screen, a quick reset and a bad score on your line proficiency check.
If you call it a simulator, then it is not supposed to reproduce cosmetic damages. If you call it a game, well, you might be rather interested in buying burnout revolution (or whatever is called the last version) instead.
GT5 has damages because people wanted them very bad. GT5 damages suck. I don't care, since it is not supposed to have them at all.
I really don't get the point with this thread. I mean, I understand many people are frustrated 'cause they bought the ps3 in 2006 and they had to wait 5 years to get their favourite game running on it, and still the cars do not fly, no airplanes or motorbike are included, not even boats, trains or roller skates. Expectation can play bad tricks on people's minds. And since the reviewers are people too, I don't expect them to push GT5 to the highest score ever seen, but that I don't care actually.
With just something more than a week to go I believe that hype is getting so high that it's clouding your minds, keeping you away from being objective.
Fact: We are speaking about PS3. It seems sometimes that's easy to forget. PS3 is a dependable, well built machine which is FIVE years old. Most of us do not have such an old PC, and even if we did, we wouldn't be able to run the newest games on it. I must be sincere and say that when I see a premium car running on the 'ring, kicking 1080p @60fps, the first thing that passes through my mind is not "how comes there are only 220 premiums", but "how the hell did those guy manage the ps3 to produce such a beutiful output". There are big time games running on 2000 dollars PC that are UNABLE to produce such a result.
Fact: Sure, I would have liked if there were 12.400 premium cars and 450 tracks, all with full weather and night options available. And, since I am italian, I would also have liked if there were 130 fiat, 240 alfa romeo, 95 lancia, all the ferraris and lambos, 86 maserati, 24 De Tomaso, 54 Abarth, 43 Autobianchi, Imola, Mugello, Adria, Vairano, Enna, Misano. I also like german cars and tracks, but there's not enough room in this post to have them listed. Not happy? That's what we could do: we could steal a SGI workstation from the NASA, then kidnap Kazunori and make him work like a slave for 3 years. When he's done with his work on the NASA workstation, I bet my ass that someone will still be complaining because cars do not pop out off the screen and become real.
Fact: Gran Turismo creates a lot of expectations because it is a MILESTONE for what concerns racing videogames, and videogames in general. Today, november 16th 2010, they could come out with GT4 as it is, just upscaled for the ps3, and it still would be the best racing game available on a console. I can hear someone crying out someting like "Forza"??? Say what??? Forza is a cheap copy of gran turismo, it has been conceived because of gran turismo, but still couldn't be able to steal the inner spirit of THE game. There's something odd about forza that makes it eventually boring after two or three weeks spent playing at it. I've been playing to GT4 for 18 months and still completed just slightly more than 50%. I would still be playing at it if my ps2 was still working.
That they're going to rate it down 'cause of standard cars? WTF! Think again. Standard cars are Forza2 cars (that is, forza 3 less cockpit) with GT5 physics. They could have given forza style cockpit to all the cars, they didn't, because they want you to have someting different. PD main goal, since GT1 which I was playing when I was 14, is to astonish us. In my opinion, as I see premium cars running on a simple PS3, they made it once again.
Bad rates for the tracks? It has slightly more tracks than gt3 (which scored 96), plus the ring, le mans, weather effects, night and day transition, AND the editor. That being said, I still believe there will be more tracks than those published on that bogus list.
You guys stop whining. If you have a minute, then spend it reviewing the PS3 numbers. Then watch some GT5 videos. The result, if you share some common sense, will be that PD, once again, reached the hardware absolute ceiling. And that my friends, that takes a long time to be done.
You have agood point mate but i think you maybe comparing apples and pears here.
an airplane and cars are different. and u can crash a car and get out alive, a plane u cant.
think there are huge differences here. plus forza did it!
You bet your ass you CAN crash a plane and get out alive. A friend of mine stalled above the runway while attempting a go around with his Cessna 172. He plunged down crashing the propeller into the runway. We still use to hang out from some beers, and he is still flying. With another aircraft, obviously, 'cause that one never flew again.
And if you think you can get out alive from a car crash at above, let's say, 80km/h-50mph, you're completely nuts. Does Forza simulate pilot's injury/death? If it doesn't, well, it's just as unrealistic as a car bouncing on a wall at 300km/h with no damages. I bet turn10 is developing a new device for the 360 (hope it's finally a wheel which deserves this name) that punches your face as you crash your car, with a strenght proportional to the car speed. Oh man, that would be the hell of realistic. And pretty darn sweet![]()

Reviewers don't have the game yet as fair as im aware.
That would be great. I hear they will get it when we get it. Which is fair. If reviewers are not reviewing the full version, they will severely hurt GT5 sales. PD nor Sony wants this. Allowing the reviewers to review an unfinished game is bound to turn ugly. Put it like this. A new baker is selling 2 cakes. One in front of the store is a no sugar added cake. One in the back has the works. Now if everyone only sees the one in the front, how well do you think that cake will sell. Not knowing that there is a better version in the back. Sorry for the corny scenario, but I am trying to make the point that Reviewers will and can hurt sales if they aren't rating a full copy.
We should expect reviews to pop up tomorrow right? Before: Release date 3-5.11 , Embargo: 27.10. So that is one week
