Well obviously they were looking at the bigger picture. Prologue is totally HD, GT5 has a bunch of 6 year-old textures and models which reduced the score. It just means they don't base their reviews on comparisons... I'm sure if they were to compare the two they'd agree that GT5 has more pretty graphics to look at than GT5P.

...and it's Jeux. It means games.

Wow. It sound like the reviewer of the French site isn't very far in the game...and still decided to give a review. Don't most reviewers at least try to complete the game before commenting?

You've also got to keep in mind that there are some reviewers on Microsoft's payroll or Nintendo's payroll....and Sony probably bribes some, too. So, it is best to completely ignore critic reviews unless you're looking for a laugh. GameSpot has a lovely "user review" score where the scores given by the general public are averaged. This is a great source for more accurate scores of the game.

So...is it possible that GT5 will receive extremely high score (> 95) in metacritic reviews? Therefore the jexx site, which is not listed in metacritic, gives a review earlier than other sites for some "reason".
 
I would not pay any attention to any review of the game and very little attention to the review of any game. I value my own opinion and that of a few of my friends who have similar taste.

I know the AI is not as bad as the guy said in the review because I have played both GT4 and GT5P and while it could be better there is a huge improvement between 4 and 5P. I have also saw in videos of game play that the AI does not always follow the line like they did in GT4. In GT5P I have saw a car go half off track in a corner to make a pass I have saw then fake right and pass left I have saw them totally loose it because they were not on the line and were going to fast.

I have also saw games which got great reviews and ended up buying the game only to find that it was horrible. I remember one where the reviewers were talking like it was the greatest racer ever but when I played it I would be hard pressed to find one from the same era that was any worse. The collision physics were so bad that it was pretty much impossible to bump the AI off track or out of control. In NFS PU you could just give a gentle nudge on the corner behind the rear tire on corner entry and that was all she wrote. On this so called best ever game you could ram them at a speed 100 mph faster than thiers right behind the rear tire in a corner and they would not even slide. Your vehicle would simply drop all the excess speed and they would get a huge boost up the track. I managed to play it about 1 hour and threw it away.

You have right, I think, the best review of the game is in this portal from a few person like AMAR, Chris etc. I will waiting review from Inside Sim Racing, because they give a real high score for FM3(but for Me GT5 is far, far away as FM3 in driving model, and what we call "simulation", for example in FM3 you have done better times when You playing with pad, but in GT5 You have be done better times only when You playing with steering wheel). I wonder how ISR explain "simulation" in GT5 and compare then with FM3.

Ps. I expect (hamburger)american reviews be the same like review from France, They don't understand magic and simulation what GT5 have got.

Ps2. Sorry for my english, I know is not perfect(at the moment). :cool:

These 'user reviews' are never accurate as there are douches who give the game 1 because it doesn't have the car they like. And there are pure fanboys that give the game 10 just because it's GT. Not reliable.

Yeah, and the last thing I want from a GT review is for a member of the general public to have written it. I can see it now: "IT'S NOT FARMVILLE, I CAN'T USE MY WIIMOTE AND THERE ARE NO NUKES. 1/10 FAIL."

This is why I miss the days of buying and reading gaming magazines.
They had a 30 day period to get their games thorougly played through and reviewed, with no pressure (other than the deadline in case of getting the review copy close to the send off date, in which case ALL respectable magazines would move their review to the next month).

Ah , where are the days when reviewers were paid journalists whose day job was to test these games and write a proper , thorough breakdown of them.
When things like replay value, bugs, mods (later articles) and their target audience were adressed in detail.

Anyone ever read power unlimited or pc gameplay or pc gamer? (the former 2 are in dutch) back in the psx/ut99/ps2 era?
Even scores used to mean something then, a 9 was reserved only for the likes of gt1, mgs , ut, splinter cell , ff7.
Clones , rebrands , buggy releases and 6 month reiterations were branded with low scores and a bucket full of scorn and finger wagging contempt.

I didn't start to regret my purchases until I started to rely on internet reviews.
 
I never really trust reviews... One of my favorite games of all time only got a 67 metacritic score. The reason for most bad reviews is that the reviewers just don't have the time to really sink into the game, and with a massive game like GT5, they'll only really review the surface of the game.
 
Haven't read the whole thread but my opinions on the new review (which I have just read) are somewhat quashed by the videos by GTP_Chris.

He's a racing driver in real life (as we all probably know by now) and he thinks the game is brilliant.

I'm inclined to lean toward his view.

Well congrats to them, they might not even have the game, or had it for a day or two and put the review up to be the first one. Also note how this isn't going on Metacritic, it's not a professional nor trusted source. It's no better than some random guy here doing a review. If this wasn't some crack-headed attempt at a review, it wouldn't be out yet due to the embargo that was given to all reviewers. These guys just wanted some attention and 'clicks' on their site. I think this is easy to tell. Seems like they didn't even play the game much to be honest. They don't mention anything we already didn't know when the game was out. Full damage unlocks later in the game, though I wish you can turn it on from the start. I am a serious driver. And later in the game you cannot bump and grind off people, or you get a lot of damage, both physical and electrical. All this dumb bastard is complaining about is him cheating the beginning game for half a day and trying to find faults. He hasn't given himself time to even like the game yet. Also, it sounds like the guy is playing with assists on. Either that or we aren't playing the same game right mEOW.

Any way, point is, this is all for attention and not a serious review. This was thrown out after a few hours of playing the game. It's apparent to me.

If you think Iracing, LFS and RFactor are Arcade racer, so yes I will stick to "arcade" racers, thank you... At least they don't hype too much but THEY ALWAYS DELIVER an amazing experience with a good FF wheel and it's not for nothing that they are praised by the real racers community.

and FYI I never said that NFS (shift?) was better than GT5, where did you find this BS lie in one of my thread?

Now if you cannot see out of your narrominded fanboy vision, I can't do anything for you... now let see how respected insidesimracing website will give to GT5...
 
Edit : concerning the content of the game, I forget to mention what the reviewer said about the B-spec mode and photomode and leveling system and track editor :

B-Spec mode is very limited (very few options : accelerate, overtake, decelerate), it is more a way to earn easy money than anything else...for the photomode its reserved for premium cars on specific locations and you cant pause the game to take photos...concerning the leveling system its a good thing but the problem is with the credit system, you ned too much money to buy new cars eventhough you are on a high level, which is really unbalanced...concerning the track editor its very limited and more a gadget than anything else...

That kinda puts me at ease, haha. I knew B-spec was limited like that and I was happy with it, so if that's the only problem they have then it's all good :)

Same goes for Photo Travel, I was hoping it wouldn't be in a paused state because I wanted the bit of extra challenge when it comes to trying to frame the perfect shot.

"Respectable" is a bit of a strong word for those guys. Both IGN and Gamespot are the first major sites that spring to mind when you start thinking about bribe controversies.

Respectable reviewer such as IGN? LMFAO!!! IGN are a bunch of tards when it comes to reviews. They are biased and favor FPS like Halo and COD. IGN will give the game a 9.0 tops.

The only place i'm checking for a review will be Famitsu.
 
I'm not too surprised by the first review. You have to be able to look past some flaws to enjoy this game to the fullest, as I know everyone here will.

Dont get too caught up in review scores though. If you're a GT fan, you already have the game on pre-order and you're gonna love it regardless of what the reviews say.

agree with above poster, Eurogamer is pretty reliable. They've only disappointed me once with their Mafia 2 review.

Received the game today, I am no expert in cars or gaming physics so im not touching that part(sorry). Got the game for my little borhet he is a die hard fan of the series so i ll just talk about the graphics.
Gameplay>graphics so please dont take my words very negative about the game.

3 year old gran turismo graphics and shadows look better than 2010 release gt5 most of the time:(
Even in cockpit view there are some shadow glitches that you cant get your eyes off! They look that iirtating and bad. Most of the time the graphics look blurry compared to gt5p. MAybe you wont notice it playing from a 3-4 mt distance but if you play games close to TV you will notice it. BTW the standart cars look bad , not horrible but I would expect much better. Physical damage is a joke , IMO the producers are forced to make it, it is there but when i hit a wall in 200km only some minor damage and scratches on the car. All the beauty of the premium cars (they look phenomenal) are ruined by standart cars and shadow glitches.
Anyway as i said no expert in cars just talking about graphics.

For a 10-hour shooter they usually do, but you can't expect a reviewer to finish a game that takes hundreds of hours and quite a bit of skill to complete.

sadly, you didn't point out the amazing light effects, the photorealistic replays in 24h nurburgring or le mans, the wonderful smoke effects and lightning when tail lights glow red of both smoke and side barriers... I know you just did an overall conclusion, but keep looking in the details, GT5 is all about details, and it's :dopey:

comparing a V8 R8 to a V10 r8 as far as sound is concerned ? weird, but still sound is better in forza i agree
however, interior looks better in GT5, better textures, no blurry effect, and models are better as well (when premium of course)
As for the tracks, reel 3D trees (although I don't give a damn) look way better in forza, but overall imperssion is an apocalypse sun, no really shiny sun :/, I don't know how i can explain that xD

Lol that moron was comparing a V8 R8 to the V10 in Forza. :rolleyes:

I also love how he thinks GT5 looks so bland and when he goes to OFrza it looks even worse. Everything is so over saturated and fake looking.

The bleachers crowd in GT5 isn't moving? lol he obviously ignored how badly it is in Forza 3. Heck in GT5 atleast there is people moving on the side lines. None of that in FOrza 3.
