Sorry, the logic is flawed. If people have paused an endurance race even once then they have NOT completed 24 hours straight, no matter how little time they paused for, you can't pause a real race.
How is the logic flawed? I agree that you shouldn't pause the game for 24 hour endurance races. If you do you have not run a 24 hour race.
Besides, I didn't realise there was a rule where when you buy the game you MUST use all features. Maybe they should just introduce another trophy "I did 24hrs straight without pausing" if it bothers you THAT much. I don't care if people use mid race saves, just like I don't care if people traded for X1s or any of the rare cars.
I think the extra trophy for people who do endurance races without pauses is a great idea. It solves the problem from both sides. People who race it over 24 hours get the extra achievment associated with that and people who cheat don't.
It's a game, we pay for it and are free to do whatever we like in the boundaries set by the game, a save feature is no different from a pause feature (if anyone used this again they did not complete 24hrs solid) except it could decrease the risk of PS3 failure.
but people do not want to race the 24 hour races within the boundaries of the game.....they want the game changed so that they can race the 24 hour races in a way that the boundaries of the game do not allow.
More over they want to remove the achievment of people who do want to race an actual 24 hour race so that they can do it.
Another funny thing to me is why do they want to do this?
I have touched on before WHY do people want to race a 24 hour race when the one thing they absolutely dont want to do is race for 24 hours?
The answer is always......so I can finish the game 100%.....so I can platinum the game....etc....what is that other than looking for an achievment from the game. Something that they want to remove from others.
As to decreasing the risk of PS3 failure.......seriously the 360 has so much to answer for this generation in making people afraid to leave anything on for more than a few hours.....My PS3 hasn't been switched off in years......amazingly it hasn't exploded or burnt the house down.
Early 360's were prone to overheating and failure.....they were badly designed....that doesn't mean that every other peice of ellectronics you own will also explode if you leave it turned on.
Do people also turn their TV's off every 3-4 hours in case they burst into flames?
It's very hard for anybody with a knowledge of ellectronics to take the pro endurance save people seriously when they keep going back to the red herring of console failure.
Like any game, some people will want to do everything to complete 100%. If people have used guides to find all the pigeons (GTA) etc then so what? Does it affect you? I highly doubt anyone really cares how you completed the endurance race. It's a game at the end of the day and everyone gets their enjoyment out if it in different ways.
See above......people want the achievment of finishing their game 100%......but these same people laugh at anybody who wants to keep the achievment of an endurance race intact.
Edit: Having played MGS 4 for many hours I got repeated warnings that I should not play the game for prolonged amounts of time and take breaks, and you want people to complete 24hours of racing without a break (pause button is a cheat, you can't do this in real life).
Where did I ever say I want people to complete 24 hours without a break?
Personally I think the only way to run the 24 hour races is with a group of friends taking shifts.
Yes I know alot of people dont have a group of friends they can call on to do that......but then why are they so adament that they want to run a 24 hour race by themselves.......oh right.....so they can have the achievment of finishing a game 100%.
