Ok,so where would they get the money for production and development of the game?
Gee, I don't know, growing it on trees? No wait đź’ˇ the sale of their previous games... what were they called? I'm drawing a blank here, help me out.

So you think they could make GT5 on the Profit margin of GT4 alone? Not to mention keep all the staff well payed.
DaveS1138I'm not sure if you read all of my post that you quoted.....I answered all this in the same post.
Name another game that includes a 24 hour race?.......the clue is in the name.....they call it a '24 hour endurance race' for a reason.
but again why do people who dont want to race for 24 hours want to enter a 24 hour race.......the reason given is the same.....so you can have the achievment of a platinum trophy......so why criticise others for wanting to keep the achievment of a 24 hour race in the game.
Now Forza is a good series and a few million like it, but it's obviously not the dream game Dan G b.s.ed about, yet. When Forza 4 gets released, then we can talk about massive overkills of aweasomeness and stuff.![]()
Or are we blaming Sony for it not ending up that way?
omgitsbeesI'm curious to know how you think the game industry works, because this is exactly how it happened. The profits from GT4, Tourist Trophy and GTwere used to develop GT5 and GT Portable.
Yes, yes I do. In fact, I'm about to go fire up GT5 and race in Arcade Mode which offers NO rewards other than pushing a car around a track as hard as I can against the bots. And I still love it, Standard cars and all.
and zomgbees, you're obviously ignoring a few things, such as SONY's meddling with Polyphony's work like pushing GT PSP development on the team when Kaz wanted to do it after GT5 was finished, pushing 3D as standard in GT5 which more than doubled the workload on the PS3 and other things.
AND you're ignoring a LOT of issues with your beloved Forza, which have inspired me to call it "half-a**ed" through the entire series to this point.

We are literally blaming an outside force for something that is 100% Polyphony's fault.
unless perhaps Sony think it's worth a net loss to produce a flagship console-selling product.
I said the same thing the other day. I had no link to provide truth to that statement, do you have one because I couldn't find it. And people called me out on it.
If you absolutely under no circumstances want to race for 24 hours then why on Earth do you want to enter a 24 hour race.![]()
If you don't want to race for 24 hours straight and dont have a group of friends willing to race it with you then why the hell would you want to run a 24 hour race? If you only want to race for an hour then do a race that only lasts an hour.......why would you want to enter a 24 hour race if the one thing you absolutely dont want to do is race for 24 hours?

Wow thought I was the only one.![]()
The head honcho of that department himself said that it takes 5-6 months for the interior and exterior of a car (for those who still think it isn't true). GT4 took 1 month.Concerning DLC, I wonder if they actually improved the car and track modelling processes. We were told that a long time was required to model these assets and given that fact, I'm not so sure if we can expect a steady flow of content ( here's hoping for monthly paid DLC ).
You're right 👍 👍 👍Either way, I'm pretty excited about the news. I'm not wishing car A or track B, I presume they'll give us interesting cars since the goal for the DLC is to spice the game up. I'll just enjoy whatever is offered since the game still feels pretty much fresh to me.
That long run trend has been to the detriment of quality games IMO. Online only really appeals to two types...the mega hardcore...or the complete cretin. Take the Call of Duties, first 2 had pretty good storylines with decent single player campaign length. Now we have the complete and utter messes like Modern Warfare 2 and I havn't even bothered with Black ops because of MW2 was such a mess. I want games that give me DRAMA, let me make moral choices, get me INTO the game like a good book. But no...games are becoming more and more like a fast food outlet, fast fix.
And I'd guess that the BIGGEST reason GT5s offline mode is crap compared to previous GTs is because of Online. Developers are incapable of doing a decent offline and online experience, online sucks everything away from offline.
edit, I do realise that story and drama don't really work with a racing game, I'm having a general anti online gaming moan.
Whatever makes you sleep better at night, but this isn't how it happened. GT5 should have been out in 2008. You never ever start adding more and more features late in development, like what PD did. That is always a terrible idea. You create a cut off point, and everything else you save for the next game.
So you're counting on quite a few things that need to get done, and done correctly, to make A-spec palatable for even a semi-decent console racer.
Polyphony has had GT3 and GT4 last generation to work on AI, and GT5P and GT5 this generation to work on AI. Do you honestly feel they have made any progress?
I'm a realist and I have to say "no" with certainty.
You know because your part of the development team im guessing
robbo6one word.....selfish. Do you really think many people give a smeg that someone else has done the 24 hours straight? I can tell you for a fact that I do not give a damn.....other than thinking anyone doing it is a sandwich short of a picnic. This is a GAME it is ENTERTAINMENT. PD adding saves will not affect your Entertainment if you so desire to play it 24 hours straight DON'T SAVE.
All it affects is taking away the penis substitute of bragging that you've completed the enduro....seriously get a life.
Let people play games how THEY want. It's a problem that has affected game developers for years (only RPG developers seem to be immune). Have OPTIONS, don't presume everyone can spend HOURS on a game, don't have rigid rules and situations that can ONLY be solved one way.
mind you if PD don't let us select "REAL" tyre realism in aspec then it's all irrelevant anyways I probably wouldn't bother with the longer endurance races as without proper tyre wear there's no strategy.
If that's what you want to believe, then I guess I am! I know quite a few people in the game industry, and they all agree with me, the way PD developed GT5, was horrible. The entire project was mismanaged and they called it at E3 2010, that GT5 was going to be a mess, and sure enough, it was.
Whatever makes you sleep better at night,
The AI is much better in gt5 in terms of not driving on rails
But my beef with AI is how slow they are.A slider to adjust the difficulty would solve that problem
It does when you want the developer to change the game "I" am playing because "YOU" want to take part in races that are longer than the races you want to take part in.
How is it correct to say that you want to enter a 24 hour race but you only want to race for 1 hour?
If you only want to race for 1 hour why not enter a 1 hour race?......that makes no sense to me
Instead you want to destroy the achievment of running a 24 hour race for the people that do want to do that so you who obviously doesn't want to do it can do it????? it's just silly.
A right????? A right to play a 24 hour endurance race when you only want to race for 1 hour.
*Repeating nonsense.*
There is little enough achievment possible in GT5 and yet you want to remove what little there is so you can enter a 24 hour race when the one thing you are absolutely adament about is they you dont want to race for 24 hours.
*Repeating nonsense.*
If you absolutely under no circumstances want to race for 24 hours then why on Earth do you want to enter a 24 hour race.
*Repeating nonsense.*
No the real racers do it properly......they put together a team of 3-4 people to take part in the 24 hour race. They understand that they cannot race for 24 hours themselves so they do not try to.
