Lol, the things people argue about

Though i do agree with alucard 0712 when he said that Spec II is going to bring new content and "DLC" is different in GT5 terms.

At least is not offensive, unlike "some other" thread

@L_H_ - Yea I wanna wheelie online! :D

What do you know? ;)

Well to start off, considering spec II for GT5 : Prologue brought 37 new cars, a new track, additional race modes and new features, new events, more options etc.. within 4 months, I can safely say that Spec II for GT5 will certainly bring new content. Also keep in mind that it's almost been a year now since GT5's release so they've even had more time to work on it. ;)

True that.

True that.
So lets see:
GT5P had Y cars in the beggining...more 37 with Spec II...
GT5 has +- 1041 cars in the beggining....then X cars willl be added on Spec II...
Yay :dopey:
Oh right 800 are standart...
Screw this, I'm gonna sleep...
But not yet :dopey:

It's a far cry but I hope they modeled this car.

In short: We have ~13 patches but no upgrades and no new content.
Spec update will include new content, otherwise it were called a patch.
It can be called add-on for racing game. But upgrade suits better.
We get Spec II upgrade first and then DLC, so they are different, both updates (as well as patches), but they called different for a reason, meaning "patch", "spec update" and "dlc" in GT5 terms are totally different kinds of updates.

Wow, you guys will argue about anything, won't you. I suppose if someone bought it up, you guys would argue about the color of snow, lol.

So I'm guessing we'll get some real details on Thursday or Friday to try and steal some Forza thunder?
If only Kaz stops being so humble and a good person, we won't be seeing that happening. You know how everybody says competition is best for PD to step it up (even) more? Well, in a way, he agrees, and he thinks that Forza is good for the genre, at least.

That depends entirely on what planet you're from. :dopey:

Well I think is time to set real expectations for Spec 2 and DLC:

Spec II features and Content (More likely):

- New A/B Spec Events
- Improved AI
- Weather and Daytime can be set up while offline
- Weather and/or Daytime for existing Tracks on retail Disc (Nurburgring GP, SSR5, Daytona, Indianapolis)
- Mid race saves in enduro races
- A bunch of "Standard into Premium" cars
- some GT4 Tracks (Infineon, El capitan, seattle) being added
- New Intro
- New songs for BGM
- More helmets and suits
- Point to Point Tracks on Course Maker
- Improved textures on GT4 Upscaled tracks (Laguna Seca, Trial Mountain, etc)
- A couple of new course maker themes
- more Bodykits and RM's

DLC content (More likely)

Tracks:

-Spa Francorchamps
- Hockkenheim

Cars:

- Honda HSV
- VW Scirocco
- BMW M series 1
- Toyota FT-86 II Concept
- Nissan GT-R 2012
- Bikes?

I wish I've never heard of specII until' the week of it's release..
Same here. I could have contentedly been racing GT5 all along while waiting for Forza 3, and then been all like "WAAUGH!" and stuff when Spec II was announced a short time before release. But this is kind of a cold war situation between MS and SONY, and Forza is releasing in less than two weeks, so they're going to be lobbing waterballoons at each other and we'll get splashed in the process. :p

Oh well, I'm just a wee bit more excited over Spec II and the DLC to come after than that other game... what's the name of it again? :sly:

One more quick edit. I think mastretta's post above mine is fairly close to what we'll see. Think most likely as far as included cars and tracks, what we'll get will be
  • One track, either Motegi, or a new track, either Hockenheim, Spa or an American track like Road Atlanta.
  • 10 cars updated from Standards to Premium.
  • His car list of new vehicles.
And the rest of what he said, with some of my wishlist items added in.

I want just as much stuff as any other person but I can't quit thinking about why we are getting this Spec II update.

  1. I have to ask what do you think it has been like at PD HQ the past 9 months?
  2. Do you think the staff has got less sleep than before or do you think that more people have been hired to churn out some new stuff? I know some have been hired but do you think they have hired quite a few people?
  3. With Kaz saying that he was not a fan of DLC and that they would start work on GT6 as soon as GT5 came out why do you think Kaz is issuing this supposedly "BIG" update to the game?
  4. What do you think Kaz thinks about his game to give us a change?

I mean for him to sell so many games and then come here to see so many unhappy people that have his game (and I know there are happy people as well just stating the topic) has got to be frustrating, I wonder what the real numbers are that still play since they bought. They must be pretty large or do you think Kaz would update anyway?

If we could keep the personal insults to one's self that would be great too! :)

+1

I think Kaz, being the sensitive guy he is, was really disappointed in the outcry from a vocal minority, many who were very mean and spiteful towards him. As well as many of us who had been die hard supporters for years, such as myself, who suddenly began questioning what they were thinking when they released some things like the XP system on us. Even with the game selling like tacos, the fans who are the most vocal are what you want to hear to judge how well liked your work is, and the response is the most mixed in Gran Turismo history. He had to take this pretty hard.

Without doubt, he sat down with his team and urged them to go over the criticism and see what points they could fix within a certain span of time. He wanted to make GT5 what we dreamed of. I'm not sure what he has in store for us, if Spec II is so big that it holds most of our wishlists, and then the DLC the rest, or if there's going to be a Spec III and IV, or more.

But what I feel in my gut is that I'm going to be even happier over a game which has made me VERY happy already. So happy that a certain other racing game is like an hors d'oeurve in comparison. And seriously, Forza 4 is looking like it's going to rock, and should be great. I doubt that Kaz is going to give us THAT incredible livery editor, and it's really the only reason I buy Forza. Sad, but true, I'm just not that impressed with Forza as a racer.

GT5 though... I don't even think of firing up any of my PC sims or hooking up my 360. It's so DARN good at giving me the feeling of pushing a car around a turn. I love this game.

1. Considering EVERYTHING (EVERYTHING!) that's happened this past year, it's probably a loony bin over there, people running around, chaos. They're hard at work just like they've been doing since day 1. Also, I completely agree with Tenacious D.

2. Knowing that Kaz worked with a max of 14 people for 5 years of GT1, I'm sure no sleep has always been a problem. Everybody, or most, of PD's workers have a place to sleep at PD Headquarters. Either under their desk or an alleged room with beds in it. Again, I agree with Tenacious D.

3. They're listening to the fans. Why else would he go back on that decision of no DLC? Kaz is one to make people wait, isn't he? I'm sure Kaz has learned quite a bit about everything from GT5. AGREE again, except hearing what I hear, the physics are probably better in FM4 (I would like to say I doubt that, but this is AMERICA!)

4. He always wants perfection, he knows a lot of PD's fans are frustrated, but I'm well sure that there are unimaginable (unbelievable until seen) things planned for GT's future. This gen of game consoles has been really the only gen where we can consider a lot of things realistic or realistic looking (not just GT).

I think something that should be addressed is the lack of Options. There's almost no freedom with Options/Settings in GT5. Although, Custom Soundtracks is fudgin great (something a lot of PS3 games can never have).

I completely agree. No matter what really gran turismo is still an awesome game. For a fact we know the pd team is gonna try hard to keep us entertained even though what we got rite now is only a fraction of what they wanted. They have worked hard on this game and still are to make it as they want it and as the fans want it.

(Forgive me if I misread your comment)

I don't care if the update would even be GBs huge, or buggy, or even crappy, but I've come too long with GT to be upset with Polyphony or Sony

A lot of us have, which is why I'm sure PD knows it's kind of like a "do or die" situation. Except the "die" will be people leaving GT for Forza. The rest of us will just be disappointed, but this is one of those times where its doubtful that we'll be disappointed by a Spec 2. We were all hoping for one.
