Hey all. Is this feature any good or is it gimmick. If its cool & enhances the experience, what all is needed. Also "head tracking? Any in put?

Hey as far as I was aware, the feature is kind of gimmicky. first of all, head tracking is available only in cockpit view, which means only on premiums, which is only 20% of the total car list. second, head tracking cannot be used during a normal race as according to Kaz, the ps3 doesn't have enough power to currently render everything on the track we have so far and still have enough space for a full view

although if you still want to do it, the only tool you actually need is the playstation eye camera. It wont work with the ps2 eyetoy. After plugging the camera in, it can be calibrated in the options menu under the hardware section. I hope this helps you in your decision.

Personally, I would rather just have the side-look buttons animate the 'look' rather than jumping abruptly to the side view. It would LOOK like you turned your head, with hardly any of the CPU overhead that the face tracking uses (and thus could be used in any view)...

I don't mind gimmicks if a non-gimmicky alternative exists, but this looks like Kaz put ALL his eggs in one basket (and then dropped it!).👎

I think Kaz also said they were working on "completing" this feature. I hope so because it's so ad-hoc at this stage that I think they shouldn't have included it at all. The fact that it is available in at least one mode gives me hope that it will be included eventually for all modes.

It is very cool for looking all around the cockpit but it gets frustrating when you glance away too look at something and when you look back the silly driver is still pointing his head at the passenger side door card, rather then the tree your about to hit :)
