I don't think this is the "Spec III" update but I like how they are constantly making improvements.
I'm really glad to see the improvement in download speeds!
I would have liked to see our own music available from the XMB but I am glad that people we race with will be added to players met, I would have invited a lot more people but trying to remember some of those screen names was tough!

Here's some new screenshots,

Does improved physics during collisions mean car damage?
and Nice job on the info Moose.

I seriously doubt it means damage, when they have damage it will be announced loud & clear!

I saw this thread come up in my RSS subscription to GTPlanet. All I can say is that I'm sure that many of these features are bound to get and keep GT fans happy. That is... until GT5's final release comes along!

Good to hear.

There's alot more I'm sure many people could've asked for but an update none-the-less.

Oh yea I can hear the complaints of, where's damage & where are private rooms, etc, etc. :boggled:
But the fact is PD is putting out updates & hopefully it will improve the gaming experience & each update is just 1 more step to a better GT5. 👍

A shame there doesn't appear to be any mention of custom soundtracks, but still glad to see that Polyphony is doing something. :)

so new handling for s1-3 tyres...hmmmm
does this meen that they will delete the leaderboars again??
they should than, beceause if the s tyres give you better handling, all tt times will be broken....
hmmmm

spyrrari.

They shouldn't delete the times, again (that was cruel how they did that last update). They are improving their cornerability, so I assume that it won't matter if they delete them, because they will naturally be taken off over time due to the new times with the improved tyre grip coming in.

Nonetheless, we still need private lobbies.

great to hear that an update is coming. I'm curios tho what PD exactly means with improved collision damage.

Looking forward.

Thanks PD

Chris

I take it you mean improved collision physics? :sly:

I think they're reducing cars bouncing off from each other. Maybe, they're also preparing contact physics for the later-awaited damage, who knows.

Cool :) Does that mean they admit S1-R1 tyres where actually wrong? Respect for that 👍
I hope they'll will get rid of those PP sometimes, because that doesn't feel right aswell... would be better to have different classes like C, B, A, S instead. I don't see why for example a maxed out Viper should have advantage over a maxed out Vette.
Id really want to improve specific setups constantly instead of always adjusting to new PP. I think tuning and no tyre restrictions for TT would be interesting, too. Oh well, you can't have everything i guess?
Nice that PD keeps improving Prologue however :) 👍

100% agree .
That would be nice to see how much the handling got improved actually.

oops, sorry dp...

I'm fine with these. 👍

I hope the improved collision and penalty system helps makes online races a better place to have fun and makes punters think twice before trying to ruin other people's races.

I don't think we will see real damage untill the full release - and weather changes otherwise there won't be anything really exciting about the full release besides the extra cars and tracks.
(Hope I'm Wong) ;-)

Cue the mass of 'omg no new cars, or traks!!!' and 'lolz this update sukz grid is waaay bettur'...

Anyway, its an update and a step forward so it can't be anything but good.

I hope that "improved collision physics" means that contact will upset the cars more realistically and to a greater extent. That would be the single greatest improvement PD could make to improving the quality of the racing online (except for private rooms, of course) as it would make it a lot harder to punt someone without losing your own car. I could live without damage if only the collision physics would penalize you realistically for touching another car.

Although I am saddened that there is no in-game music update, the improved penalty system more than makes up for it. Hopefully if you get knocked into the sand, the punters PS3 gets blown up:idea:👍

wow what a massive (joke) update!
seriously I'm sick of waiting a proper private races system for gt5p.

Well, this isn't Spec III, just an update. What I see being the most important update here is the following:

Race
- Improvements in penalty judgments
- Improved physics during collisions between cars in Online races.

WIthout thinkingtoo much, there are at least three great flaws in penalty judgements.

1) I don't understand how brake-checking can pay off. It would be simple to immediately ghost a car that brakes hard in the middle of a straight, or at least long before the normal braking points (PD knows where these are, at least they can set the driving line turning red in the areas where we're supposed to be braking).

2) One other thing is that, if I'm sent off, for example in Suzuka (Turn 1) really hard, when I get to the end of the sand trap (far, far away from the track) and hit the barrier, THEN I get a 4 seconds penalty because of that hit.

3) A car that doesn't take off at race start should be immediately ghosted. I'm tired of bumping and getting penalties just because some guy in front of me or just placed in the first rows of the grid decided to have a laugh creating a pile-up of cars at the start of the race.

I think this update fails to fix the main problem with their game. Online needs to be taken to private rooms. Even with these great additions and fixes, this Spec III still doesn't combat the major issue for its users.

I'd say they are moving in the right direction, but as it looks, private rooms options are still ways off.
