I kinda feel cheated out of 20$, its a bad sign if a game depreciates 20$ in a matter of weeks, not MONTHS, but weeks. I still remember DW8 was 60$ for several months.

It's not depreciation, it's more of overstocking...

same thing, they expected more sales when in reality most of the PS3 user base now has a PS4 and could care less about GT, hence why it's depreciated so fast, they literally have to mark them down 1/3rd to get sales.

I bought GT6 for 47 euros off of ebay.co.uk - new with 2 Ann. car packs Dec 5th. This game was cheap from the get go.

Also yes - they expected more sales - I wonder if PD did too

Not with this engine sounds PD...not with this engine sounds..

General public could give two poops about Lunar missions or pretentious (ugh...ok it's "Beautiful"..) intro/trailer nor do they care about Vision GT - things that would be nice additions if all the major flaws were fixed - like mostly quoted pale engine sounds.

I don't think PS4 and next gen in general impacted the sales so much - if the game was a big step forward people would flock like they did for GTA5.

God of War 2 launched after PS3 was released - 4mln sales on PS2 alone. Sold great again as HD release and will sell again on VITA.

All this years to make GT5 - engine sounds from GT4...then 3 more years...STILL engine sounds from GT4 - you can't seriously expect people to buy product like that.

Sure you and I - we will appreciate the game for what it is - because it honestly IS a very good game - even superb in some aspects...but sound compartment is a deal breaker - easily 50% less sales because of that and PD have absolutely ZERO excuses to launch GT6 in this state - they had all the time in the world.

Mmm... I can see how that'd grate on someone.

I'm not personally fussed; I know I'm prone to p!ss away $20 at the drop of a hat. ;) But, I can see how other people would see that as a big deal. A full 1/3 of a price difference.

I'm not feeling cheated because the game is bad, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game. I'm just a bit more thrifty with my money, and had I known that GT6 would go down by 20$ after Christmas, I would've waited a little longer.

Urm, thats about 64 USD. Thats not really cheap, I mean new games for PS4 are 60 USD. You pretty much bought it full price bud.

Same. :)

I'm not. ;)

I have a little wiggle room for discretionary income; if it wasn't the $20 here, I probably would've blown that much (or more) on a night at the club.

But, yes; NOT spending an extra 20 bones for the Anniversary edition would've been nice. C'est la vie.

Nope - it was 59.99 euros at local gamestop and amazon or any other major retailer so I saved quite a chunk of money.

Every new PS3/PS4 game here costs usually 59.99-69.99 euros while in US it costs 59.99-69.99 $.

I'm not in US and I think that's what you were incorrectly and unjustifiably assuming.....bud :sly:;)

I'm not surprised. When I went to pick up mine on day one there was one other customer in the store and he was not picking up GT6. I'm sure they did this because they are way overstocked because people were getting feedback from others who preordered. I have a close friend that didn't do a preorder. I was surprised because we played GT5 a lot together. He rented a copy and after playing for a few days he said he wouldn't buy it until more things were fixed.

@TurismoBad then thats my fault then, its a loss on my side, but dang 59-69 euros? That is unjustifiably expensive. Oh my goodness, unless the wage rates are higher in Europe. Or maybe the US economy is so bad, the dollar is worth squat next to the euro... :(

Dude there are a lot of new games on sell there. GTAV, Assassin's Creed IV, COD Ghosts, etc... It's just an after Christmas sell for their best selling titles. I wouldn't look into it too much because we know GTA5 certainly didn't do poorly.

yeah I posted without doing some background research. Apparently you are right, its only a temporary price drop, and then it will go back to 60$

I don't know about wage comparisons but maybe we have slightly higher wages in Europe, maybe not. What I do know is that Europeans, and especially the UK, always get ripped off by companies. As an example:

PS4 brand new on Amazon.com is $399.99
PS4 brand new on Amazon.co.uk: £349.99

By current exchange rates, the US PS4 would cost £242.75, so a mark up of nearly £100. Companies would argue it is due to shipping costs and import taxes and whatnot but I am not convinced. I remember years ago, people used to buy their clothes when they went to US for a holiday due to the low prices (a pair of jeans costing £40 over here would cost the equivalent of £15 in the US)

That is quite bad actually, but import taxes might be the reason why, shipping costs not so much. I have relatives in Vietnam, and though its in Asia, the import rates over there is atrocious, that and widespread corruption, you end up paying for the full price of the product just to bring it over there.

@nursemorph But the weird thing is, PS4s aren't really made in America lol, they are made in Japan and China I believe, so it would be equidistant to the UK and US, or maybe a little bit farther, but a 100 pound markup is insane! But if you are buying online, can't you just convert bank funds to USD then buy it and ship it to the UK or does that not work?

Yep, the mark up is insane but it is something we are used to. Agreed that the PS4s aren't made in the US, so shipping costs cannot be explained as a reason....import taxes etc may account for a small amount, the rest......pure profiteering. I have never quite understood it to be honest. I read about the costs of the PS4 etc before it was released and the price charged in the US is what the system would cost component by component (not accounting for deals with AMD for discounts due to volume etc), so the US price would allow a significant profit margin anyway.

Yes, I assume it would be possible to buy from a US site and import it but would have to remember to buy Region 1 games, Blu-Rays, DVDs etc as the PS is region-locked I think (I guess it's probably possible to unlock it but that's usually a hassle). I probably won't be buying a PS4 until GT7 is released and maybe not till some time after anyway as I only play GT these days (If I want to play a different game, I buy it for PC as it's cheaper and my PC is more powerful...I only have the PS3 for GT anyway!) and, by that time, the prices should be much lower so it becomes less of an issue.

It does look that Sony is using things like regions to excuse overcharging on their PS systems and everything else. Though I am with you on the wait, I usually wait to buy 2nd gen or even 3rd generation models for systems as 1st gen systems usually have a multitude of problems. Also, when 2nd gen consoles are released, demand is down, so they usually bundle them up with some games and stuff!

It's not a Sony thing, all companies do it. Samsung, Microsoft, Nintendo.... the list goes on.
