It's not depreciation, it's more of overstocking...
Mmm... I can see how that'd grate on someone.I kinda feel cheated out of 20$

I'm not personally fussed; I know I'm prone to p!ss away $20 at the drop of a hat. But, I can see how other people would see that as a big deal. A full 1/3 of a price difference.
I bought GT6 for 47 euros off of ebay.co.uk - new with 2 Ann. car packs Dec 5th. This game was cheap from the get go.
Same.I'm not feeling cheated because the game is bad, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the game.
I'm not.I'm just a bit more thrifty with my money
Urm, thats about 64 USD. Thats not really cheap, I mean new games for PS4 are 60 USD. You pretty much bought it full price bud.
I kinda feel cheated out of 20$, its a bad sign if a game depreciates 20$ in a matter of weeks, not MONTHS, but weeks. I still remember DW8 was 60$ for several months.
@TurismoBad then thats my fault then, its a loss on my side, but dang 59-69 euros? That is unjustifiably expensive. Oh my goodness, unless the wage rates are higher in Europe. Or maybe the US economy is so bad, the dollar is worth squat next to the euro...![]()
@nursemorph But the weird thing is, PS4s aren't really made in America lol, they are made in Japan and China I believe, so it would be equidistant to the UK and US, or maybe a little bit farther, but a 100 pound markup is insane! But if you are buying online, can't you just convert bank funds to USD then buy it and ship it to the UK or does that not work?
Yep, the mark up is insane but it is something we are used to. Agreed that the PS4s aren't made in the US, so shipping costs cannot be explained as a reason....import taxes etc may account for a small amount, the rest......pure profiteering. I have never quite understood it to be honest. I read about the costs of the PS4 etc before it was released and the price charged in the US is what the system would cost component by component (not accounting for deals with AMD for discounts due to volume etc), so the US price would allow a significant profit margin anyway.
Yes, I assume it would be possible to buy from a US site and import it but would have to remember to buy Region 1 games, Blu-Rays, DVDs etc as the PS is region-locked I think (I guess it's probably possible to unlock it but that's usually a hassle). I probably won't be buying a PS4 until GT7 is released and maybe not till some time after anyway as I only play GT these days (If I want to play a different game, I buy it for PC as it's cheaper and my PC is more powerful...I only have the PS3 for GT anyway!) and, by that time, the prices should be much lower so it becomes less of an issue.
It's not a Sony thing, all companies do it. Samsung, Microsoft, Nintendo.... the list goes on.It does look that Sony is using things like regions to excuse overcharging on their PS systems and everything else. Though I am with you on the wait, I usually wait to buy 2nd gen or even 3rd generation models for systems as 1st gen systems usually have a multitude of problems. Also, when 2nd gen consoles are released, demand is down, so they usually bundle them up with some games and stuff!
