Is GT6 worth after being spoiled by GT7

I've read about the common complaints like engine sound, but I've unexpectedly enjoyed GT7 so much, it makes me wonder if I should give GT6 a try. Knowing that 2 generations have passed in the mean time, of course.

The Circuito de Sierra time rally was pretty fun and the lunar missions too. The course maker doesn't work anymore though and that was the best feature for me.

Other than those I don't know if GT6 offers anything you can't find in GT7. Perhaps GT5 or GT4 would be a better choice today?

They're very different experiences. There's a lot about GT7 that is better, customisation, graphics, custom races. But the single player structure of GT1-6 is better than GT7 IMO. Well, maybe not 5, but 3 and 4 were standouts for that IMO.

Also, you can mod GT6 to add new events to it, so not part of the game per se, but does add to the experience.

Just for fun, I fired up GT4 and turned it off after one lap. Couldn't believe how bad the sound is, I'd forgotten how far they've come. I'll stick to GT7 and play Sport if I feel like something different.

GT7 looks better, drives better and sounds better but I love the car list and track list in GT6 more. GT7 takes itself too serious. I have more fun in GT6 and especially GT4!

I hear a lot about how bad the cars sound in GT6. Is it better or worse than GT4?

It might be slightly better but still pretty bad but that doesn’t really bother me. I like that I can buy any car in any color whenever I want and don’t have to wait for it to “show up” in the used car dealership. Plus it has most of the “original” classic tracks that are just fun to drive. I know I’m in the minority but I still love 6. I play 7 during the week and 6 on the weekends but hey, that’s just me. 😁

You really can’t compare an old game to the new version, newer is always going to look, sound and drive better. You have to overlook a lot but I think the older games are way more fun. I’d play GT4 more if it wasn’t such a hassle changing over to my old wheel for PS2.

How are the physics? Will it be a big step back from GT7?

I haven’t played GT6 since getting rid of my PS3. Giving it a try won’t hurt. Think of all those cars and tracks that aren’t currently in GT7: XR8 V8 Supercar, NASCAR, Lotus, BMW and Lexus touring cars, Daihatsu Midget ;), Silverstone, Apricot Hill, Motegi, Goodwood Hillclimb and multiple layouts of many other circuits.

GT6 was my very 1st Gran Turismo, and the one that turned me into a somewhat GT fan that I am today.
It's a fairly easy game for GT standards, I've beat the entire game using automatic transmission, which is something unthinkable to achieve in GT7, I guess...

But the ability to have an actual career mode, 1200+ cars readily available to you, a pretty healthy number and variety of tracks and layouts, decent physics (might not be the best physics ever but still...) even the soundtrack is nice and most of the menu musics are EPIC, much better than the ones in GT7 IMO.

So if you happen to have a working PS3 or a decent PC to run a PS3 emulator, you should definitely try GT6, you won't regret it!

I have a 55 4K and it’s fine, just don’t expect GT7 but it’s still worth it for me. Looks a lot better than GT4 😂
