Yea I don't remember that part...lol. Are you referring to Vaughn Gitten Jr. I didn't see him as telling me what to do. It was kinda like Jeremy Clarkson in Forza, just a voice. He just describes stuff, but you didn't exactly follow any sort of path other than racing the races that got unlocked.

Ah yes...such cringe-worthy memories.

"Ya hear THAT? That's the sound of ALL-AMERICAN muscle...I HOPE you can handle it!"

Not to mention how annoying his voice was each time I had to restart a race.

Luckily you can mute "the dude" in race. Also the game has cheesy videos with american champions, and "tough" quotes of some of them on the loading screen.

I guess that was the real EA influence on that game, seeing that the lads of Slightly mad studios are british :D

But now, since Slightly Mad Studios is on it's own, they're doing a great job so far with the development of Project CARS, and I wait for it's release with eagerly anticipation.

Not in my book.

I didn't say it wasn't a fun game. Just that it sucked in terms of handling. I would play it and then soon realized why I stopped playing it and go back to playing GT.

ROFL...

I've been noticing similarities between GT6 and more specifically Shift 2, First the tracks, Silverstone, Brands, Bathhurst, all featured on Shift 2, Pity they didn't include my favourite Road America !
Also the friends leaderboard system is like the Autolog used in Shift, And also the collecting stars for race wins is the same as Shift 1 .
In car motion blur effects, Where have we seen these before ? Yes you guessed it Shift 1 and 2.

Surprisingly there is no penalty system for cutting tracks on GT6 , There was in Shift though !
The indoor carting track with all the bright neon lights , Reminded me of a track in NFS Carbon, Also the fact you can buy cars using real money rather than work for them in the game is very EA like.
WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG in car blur effects came out in GT4,which came out in 2004 and Shift in 2009, so tell your NFS to stop copying GT. dont take it too seriously it was just a light hearted ribbing, but its true gt4 had blur effects during crashes

LOL, level of racing by series:

oh yes let me add GT has been doing simulation racing since 1997, and NFS "shifted" from arcade style racer to sim 2009, WHO COPIED WHO??

Yes, I remember playing the old NFS Most Wanted, fun times, didn't realize it was one of the few times I could use a Porsche on a racing game rather than an RUF, but Need for Speed wanted to appeal to a wider audience than GT series. Arcade racer vs driving sim, from the average gamers perspective, arcade racer sounds much more fun than a driving sim. While driving sim seems to appeal to a much more specific consumer base, as driving sim sounds much more technical than arcade racer.

Like I have said before, its extremely hard to be original now, many things and features have already been thought out, and some just borrow it and recycle the feature except under a different name (gears of war horde mode, now its in Halo, Team Fortress 2, and COD MW3 had similar concepts) so its no surprise if they copy or not. Though a driving sim copying from an arcade racer is a bit of a stretch. Its like saying the Dalai Lama took some pointers from Miley Cyrus. Two different appeals.

Wow, haha at the thought of GT6 copying shift. Neither are copying from either one, so, wow. It's so dumb. Plus Shift has some pretty bad physics...

imo

Seems like that input lag is a playstation exclusive, i luckily bought it for the xbox (as i have both), and haven't experienced any such problems.

I have it on PS3, those videos are pre-patch when the game had a few weeks out, nowadays, the lag is there but not as bad and with an optimized TV (no post-processing bs turned on, game mode and screen fit) the game runs just like any other 30 fps capable racing game (dirt series, F1 series, grid series, etc), just another case of people not putting enough effort.

I would like to get it on XB though as I have it too (and typically games look and run better on it) but since I bought all the DLC on PS3, created some liveries and have all cars, I wouldn't be able to live without my cars and I'm not willing to buy the DLC again, plus, FM4 takes most of my Xbox gaming time, I had to show some love to the PS3 and leave it with an equally enjoyable racing game and of course, GT5/6 isn't it

If you could pick it up for the xbox somewhere for less than a tenner, please do! Would be great to be able to compare lap times with you on the autolog.

Funny coincidence as i'm stalking different forums at the moment looking for xbox owning people that also have it :D

And yes indeed i own both systems and i'm tented to like the 360 more as a console than the PS3; WIFI is more stable, interface is better and in general the games are a bit sharper.

But Why would you EVER use WiFi....
Wired is always more stable but also faster since the data loss is less substantial.
Well after we moved i found out the wire i have is not long enough anymore, so so far i've been using the WIFI and altough you have the occasional disconnect, it works fine on xbox whilst PS3 seems to be far worse with the WIFI signal IMO so i can understand why you would never stick with WIFI on that console.

Because on xbox you can without getting disconnected every 5 minutes :dopey:

That's not true. After I spent two hours fiddling with my external router settings, ultimately putting my PS3 in the DMZ for the modem itself with the PS3 being the only thing that connects at all to it wirelessly, it works great!

online gaming is BEST WITH HARD WIRED wifi is junk for online gaming fellas. Wifi is unreliable source for gaming game companies need to make it so everyone is hardwired instead of wifi because wifi causes alot of lagging issues.

Well i had to open ports etcetera also in the router to make it work better (but not good) on PS3, maybe it's my connection but i'm already on my second internet line and router (we moved and changed provider), and it's still worse on PS3 to me.

Anyway we are going off topic :D

I feel that PD need to do a bit of copying, if you can even call it that. I feel if they don't do the things other racing franchises have been doing since the PS2 days, GT will start to lose it's relevance as the PS4 generation grows. I have the utmost respect for the things that GT does well, physics, car and track models, but that's honestly in my opinion about where it ends. While these are the things that keep me playing GT, it's difficult for me to overlook all the things that would make GT a better game.

The reason is most likely that they're in Autodesk's newer catalogue of full-location scans.

I get your hypocrisy....lol. And that you are willing to overlook the worst handling racing game out there, just because you can make your car look pretty.

Where did you find the hypocricy? What the hell are you talking about? "Worst handling" is your opinion. I know GT has better physics but Shift 2 is not as bad as some people make it out to be. In some things I think the physics in Shift 2 are better than GT. Launching a big HP car in Shift is not as easy as just pressing X and go.

And it's not about making my cars "look pretty". It's about being able to turn my street car into a full blown race care and make it look the part. You call me a hypocrit while you're the one defending a game that all it has got going are good physics and many cars. Everything else in GT just feels lifeless and boring.

I'm gonna try and make some vids of replays of mine of Shift 2; i get the feeling people just judge it straightaway because it bares the NFS title, or in case they played it they encountered bad handling racing cars (because the default settings are not good), and never bothered to adjust the settings and the suspension.

I really enjoy tuning cars and in the end it's rewarding and you can race some real gems against good competition on classic circuits. Something that GT sadly does not have as they screwed up the race formula with GT5, and never bothered to make the AI faster.

I can race a porsche on Hockenheim 1982 at dawn, that's a good experience for me :)

*Chuckles* Despite you saying *you think*, that isn't true at all after I tried it... Dem icy physics.

He thinks that. You clearly think something else. Neither of you are able to provide anything other than your own opinion. He also said "in some things" so you can't even quantify which part may or may not be true. Go easy, tiger.
