Many thanks for letting me know about the Subaru 360 '68 mistake, but you have to blame @photonrider for that, because I only copy & paste the car name from his post to mine :lol:.

Okay, I heard '68s are out of stock. You guys will have to use the older one - the one I used - the '58. :sly:

Did the nowcontrol Seasonal Trophy twice - what a great track! Didn't get anywhere near winning but was enjoying the drive in the Furai and learning the course.
Right after all that blazing speed I took a break and decided to take the 360 out to Tsukuba,
The change of pace was unnerving; I wanted to get out and run with the car.
It was so slow after the Furai.
I ran the 360 faster than Hall - but the rabbits ran faster than Hall, too.
No win. :(

See how doing 20 laps in a Furai at Eifel can improve one's 360 time at Tsukuba? :D

And now after a satisfactory bit of driving, off to bed.

I'm loving it. After all those sprint races to sit down and dig into these micro-enduros is fun.
Action? Lots of it.
Take a gander at how the rabbits are duking it out:

Here's canuck Gibson in the Nissan Yellowhat - in the lead at this point.
Started off on IMs stopped for fuel and fresh IM rubber end of the 5th. Well into the 8th lap he comes flying over the crest of 'Tsunami' curve and finds out that momentum is going one way, but the track going another.
He hits the grass but straightens out, trying to carry the momentum back onto the track.

Behind him is Le Clerq in the Nissan Motul, also started on IMs, stopped with Gibson at the end of the 5th, too, for the same rubber and fuel, and is following the leader closely.

Behind Le Cerq is Gutierrez in the Nissan Xanavi - started off on RS, stopped end of 2 to take on IMs, then changed back end of 8th to RS. He lost the lead to Gibson and Le Clerq when he stopped for his first pit. Now he's caught up to the leaders after the 2nd pit.
He's on fresh rubber - the best - on dry conditions. The leaders are on worn IMs.

All this is happening in a split second - Gibson gets off the lawn and jumps back on track to play T-bone. Le Clerq panics, pushed by Gutierrez and starts chewing grass too.

Gutierrez has nowhere to go - but fresh tires help with the brakes; he sees a tiny gap that will be available for about a quarter second . . . some time in the immediate future.

Making it with a hair's-breath to spare Guttierrez pulls away to take the lead again and do the last lap as a flying lap under clear skies on freshly warmed up rubber.

So - strip weight, then add ballast? This a way to trick the PP? I'm going to have to buy a new 360 and tinker with that.
I can't believe the timesheets you guys are sending in - how can this little bug be so fast.
Got to say watching the replays are hilarious - this car vies with the 2CV for being funny and dangerous at the same time.
Because the pace is slower, the spaced out AI are quite fun to battle with and I can see why this event is becoming popular. Good to see timesheets being thrown in even though they don't beat the top time. 👍

I've tried the Mazda Furai challenge and was able to win with a time of 25:37.133 with a winning margin of just over 60 seconds at 1:00.445. The AI was quite slow because we had a lot of rain on the track throughout the race. The Furai is a bit of a challenge when the rain is coming down cats and dogs (the rear of the Furai will break loose, which happened to me a couple of times) but otherwise the Furai is very fast.:) My race strategy was RS2, IM6, RS2.

More attempts are expected!

Hear, hear. It takes a lot of effort, discipline, and skill, too, in getting those threads up on time and so very well done - not to mention the time taken. We're not talking one thread here or a thread here and there, but a consistent, well-regulated series of threads that are popular and immensely helpful in gathering all the good racers, as well as learners, for their input.

This little Subaru has some serious issues! I'll be tuning this one for while I think... Really like it's quirky handling! Here's a first try with the initial tune:

As for the Furai, this car is just fun! Now if I could just figure out the right pit strategy and tire combo maybe I can improve my time...

Lots of stuff to talk about - but I am just about running off to a buddy's for a pow wow. Meantime, I have been analysing on and off through the day (very time-consuming) one of the races I did with the Furai at Eifel.

Good stuff! :cheers: Remember to throw a screenshot in if you are entering a time. Don't worry about getting a top time to show off - even completing the event with a decent enough time is an achievement. Would be extremely difficult to break 24:00 in a Furai - but let's see what our GTPlanet natives can do. :D
I'm also looking forward to boosting the Prize List - so . . . enter your times FWIW. :lol:
You're right - the Furai is fast; I clocked 158 MPH around that final sweeper into the home straight. On IMs in the rain. :crazy:
I'm just having fun, though, I'm not eligible for this event myself; since I'm putting up the prize - and nowcontrol isn't either; since he's giving away the prize (the event is in his honour.)
That said . . . yes, there may be 2nd and 3rd prizes, too (though only the First will get the title. ;)

I reduced the weight, added ballast, threw on the power but still couldn't break 7:40. Struggling with 3rd and 4th; trying to adjust to fit this track and not being very successful. I can't get her upto 90MPH - I need some 1:10s.

The fastest driver in this field was Muench, the guy in the MR-S V Edition. He beat me twice, then held back and let Urner chase me. Had some great races with Muench; that Mr-S is incredibly fast - I'm sure he could break 7:30 - watch for him.

@hall90 Very generous of you to share your excellent tune. Bet you wish you hadn't now ;). I've obviously got a lot to learn when it comes to tuning, having driven almost exclusively stock cars in the past and shamelessly borrowed tunes when necessary. It's still a tricky blighter though.

Meanwhile the Jew and I have to shave another ten seconds (or more) with this little beast that reminds me of Yoshi.

Just finished a three-hour long session watching (and astounded at) my neighbor and his 14 year old son get at my PS3, wheel and GT6.
The kid had just got a Celica from his dad - can't get to use it till he's sixteen, but is a bit of a mechanic and wants to work on it till then. Came over, booted up an almost identical Celica, painted it, tuned it, new wheels, etc and took it drifting, racing, started going through my garage, the tracks, freaking out with awe at the VGTs, taking the Tomahawk out and doing 300 MPH at SSRX, trying out the 2X, then back to the Celica for more fun . . . one of the most outstanding features of this so-called 'game' is the way its plug-and-play simulation is immediately accessible to anybody.
I kept them offline. :D
And then they stumbled upon the karts in my Stockyard.

*sigh.

Yes, they almost didn't leave.

I, was hoping to get at the console myself! :rolleyes:

Gran Turismo . . . :dopey: So back to the console to try Hall's tune - but I'd like to bite at the nowcontrol Seasonal Trophy, too, study the raindance a little more. I'm so glad that we have this extended time - for addicts like me with limited time it is a boon.

P.S. @hall90 - you kill me, man. You're probably a really funny guy IRL. Taciturn, but funny. :lol:
 
@photonrider never underestimate the educational value of video games for kids, in particular to Gran Turismo.

My son was in the 1st grade and at our first conference the teacher commented on his advanced reading and math skills. She was soon to be a first time mother and asked what programs or materials we used with him.

I told her video games (with a straight face). I don't believe there is a better motivation for a child to learn to read than figuring out the on screen instructions of a video game are. I told her his concept of value to 7 digits and basic math was due specifically to playing Gran Turismo 3.

Fast forward 10 years and GT came in handy when it was time to teach him to drive in addition to how a car will respond / how to correct it under some emergency situations.

I grew up before video game consoles and would probably not be playing GT today if I had not bought him that used copy of GT3 for his PS2 (he did not ask for but it interested me). When GT4 came out dad bought a DFP wheel and a PS2 of his own, the rest is history.

Not sure how to get a slower field here... Jantunen was flying and pulled Shwartz with him! I had a chance if i could have kept the tail inline during braking! :banghead:
