We all know Kaz's word is worth crap anymore regarding deadlines, but he said it would be much less time than GT5 took to release GT6.

I think GT6 will be released fairly soon (2 years or so), they just have to make new cars and tracks, and make minor changes to the graphics and the game engine.

Not like GT5 when they completely remade the game engine.

Well if you look at the fact there's been 2 major GT releases for each console.

PS1 - 1 & 2
PS2 - 3 & 4
PS3 - 5

It would make sense to assume that GT6 will arrive before PS4 and GT7 will be on PS4 instead.

But GT5 was released well-after into the lifespam of the PS3, in comparison.

GT4 was released when the PS2 was 4 years old.

GT2 was released when the PS1 was 4 years old.

GT5 was released when the PS3 was 4 years old.

True. I guess it depends on if Sony want to bring the PS4 out within the next year or two or keep going with the PS3 for longer.

Kazunori-san has said that the PS3 doesn't have enough RAM even for GT5 so I think it is unlikely that GT6 will be released for the PS3.

It would be best forthe company to focus on correcting the problems with GT5 and work on GT6 for PS4 when the time is good.

GT6 on PS3 doesn't seem like a good idea to me considering how far this console generation has already gone.

I suspect video game industries will move out of the 1-2-3 names and just stick with just; PlayStation, xBox, Nintendo Entertainment System. Because soon, these game systems will be like computers and we'll call them for what they are. I call my Gateway computer just my Gateway, no need to tell the model number unless you need to get into specifics.

I suspect the same for Gran Turismo too. With internet access, the original 5 will likely end up becoming just being called, "Gran Turismo". We'll be buying and downloading the game online with consent upgrades/patches/fixes and from time to time a complete overhaul for the new generation.

But, you know, that's just me.

.....annnnnd no mentions of TT, GT3, or Prologue. It's convenient to omit trend-busters isn't it?

Should be more race cars in this game, but I'm not commanding :) they said future consoles could maybe withstand what they're trying to do didnt they?

PS4 most likely wont be released until at least 2016. So given that, I expect GT6 to be released for xmas 2012 or the summer break in 2013. GT7 on the PS4 in 2018 :(.

Simply a prediction on the GT franchise, but the quotes below talk about the life cycle of the PS3.

"I've always said [PS3's life-cycle will be] ten-plus years and the only question mark is how long the 'plus' is," House said, adding that "ten years I think is the minimum" - SCE Europe boss Andrew House

"We look at our products having a 10-year life cycle, which we've proven with the PlayStation," said Kaz. "Therefore, the PlayStation 3 is going to be a console that's going to be with you again for ten years. We're not going to ask the consumers to suddenly buy another PlayStation console in five years time, and basically have their investment go by the wayside." - SCEA president Kaz Hirai

What?

Prologue is just a paid demo.

Tourist Trophy has nothing to do with GT.

GT3?

GT2 = Second Mayor Release on PS1, released 4 years after console release. There were no more releases after that.

GT4 = Second Mayor Release on PS2, released 4 years after console release. There were no more releases after that.

GT5 = First Mayor Release on PS3, released 4 years after console release.

4 years = Mature console, at its peak of performance.

I read before that stuff that can't be implemented in GT5, would go to GT6.
And that GT6 would be a PS4 game. Because GT5 is on the edge of what the PS3 can do.

Possibly an GT5-specII between GT5 and GT6.

I only hope that Kaz & co won't save good ideas for GT6!:scared:

From what Kaz said before, it seems that GT5 runs on a scaled back version of what will be GT6, so I agree, it'll be a PS4 game, possibly even a launch title this time given that, according to Kaz at least, they did all the heavy lifting while developing GT5. It makes no sense to design a seriously impressive game, tone it down for current hardware that is halfway through it's lifespan, then release another scaled down game; how can they make it better enough than GT5 to justify charging for it?

Also, I'm certain they'll hold ideas back, for a few reasons:
1. To make GT6 more attractive to gamers than sticking to GT5 (i.e. Make it clear it's not just the same game with new cars).
2. Technical challenges with updating a game post-release, such as the simple fact that not everyone will have enough free HDD space for downloading additional content.
3. I did have a third point but I just forgot what it was.

I really don't see what previous GT releases have to do with how many full GT games we'll see on the PS3, it's pretty clear there's no actual release schedule, times have changed (GT 1-4 couldn't be updated via the internet for a start) and if you want to look to the past to see how things have been, why not look at how things haven't been? What I mean by that is, when in the past have we had to wait so long for a new GT title? Never. Call it pessimism if you like, but GT5 has ended that coincidence as far as I'm concerned.

Which is this year... When is your prediction Killa Aaron?

Well if GT6 comes out for the PS4 than I am not getting my hopes up. Look where that got us with GT5 on the PS3. It's the first GT game for the PS3 and it is littered with bugs and other things.

Imagine what the PS4 will be capable of and all of the stuff Kaz will be trying to do with that game. His vision is just going to grow and out grow the PS4 just like GT5 did on the PS3.

Sony said that they have absolutely no plans to release the PS4 any time soon

Yah and Kaz said he could've released GT5 whenever he wanted. Goes to show their all full of ****.

I really don't think your hollow stats are indicators of anything. There's no way you can sit here and make a solid argument that GT5 was planned to be released in the PS3's fourth year.

Still no real response to this one? You can make the weak claims that Prologue was a paid demo (though I consider GT:HD and the Time Trial with the GT500 car to the closer to demos) and TT wasn't connected (even though it's the same developer and the same tracks, just with bikes) but I don't understand how you can just completely ignore GT3.

If anything you're proving that a statistic can be made up to suit any argument. You'll need to do a little better than that if you want to convince any half-brained GTPer of anything. :indiff:

I imagine it will be released at the end of the Ps3s life. Typically GT games have a small opener, GT1, GT3, and have a more complete, larger in every way second, GT2, GT4.

It's easier to upgrade an existing game with some new cars and tracks than to build from scratch.

And you believe that pfft :sly:, this gen hardware is so old you think these systems are going to go on for 3 more years with their 512 MB of ram and 6 year old GPU's?, No i say they are already working on a new system for release sometime next holiday or 2013. PC tech is way ahead and it's time for a new hardware refresh cause it's been 6 years, look at BF3 and the Witcher 2 these are just 2 of the best looking PC games that have great hardware spec requirements and GT6 needs these type of specs pushing it.

I guarantee you will hear new reveals about next gen hardware at E3 in 2012 and GT6 will not be a PS3 title for fact cause GT5 came too late in the PS3 life cycle, just put GT4 in the same scenario if there wasn't a GT3....
