Polyphony's sole focus should now be GT6 on PS4 and nothing else. PD now know that it takes a long time to develop and model for powerful systems, and if they start preparing and developing for PS4 now, the sooner GT6 for PS4 can be released.
It also means that Polyphony can go underground and really knuckle down over the next two or three years and really pump out asset after asset, without the constant shadow of a release date hanging over them.
This time around, Sony should not announce a new GT until closer to release. Announcing GT5 so early will have done nothing for the dev team, who will have been aware of the constant pressure and clamour for a release date from the press and from fans; however you can't clamour for a release date of a game that's not announced, so Sony would be wise not to announce GT6 until they're about a year away from launch.
