Because they approved it.
There is reference to GT6, right? There is reference to product within their product, right?
So ... IT IS GT6 related. Either this commercial SUX, or GT6 lately is totally missing the point for me.
Did they approve it? When? Why? Because someone put the name of the game on a video they made?

I could put all the text and/or logos in that video on some random phone recording of me on the toilet, it still wouldn't be approved by PD.

Maybe it was meant to be an official ad, but wasn't released because whatever reason, then made its way to the internet just now.

This is probably it.

I imagine ads for a game are made a bit before the release date. Kaz said at one point that he thought that the Course Maker would either be in the game at release or shortly after it (it's in one of the news posts on GTP). This was a big feature, so naturally they made an ad for it.

Can you imagine seeing an ad like that on TV in December last year? That would have gotten a lot of people excited.

Once they knew that the Course Maker wasn't going to be in the release version, they would have put the ad on hold so as not to be outright lying to people. They probably assumed it could be used in a month or two, with some minor changes to the final text.

14 months later...here we are. For whatever reason the people who made the ad decide to release it anyway. It's almost certainly not Sony/PD sanctioned to be released, but it is very likely a legitimate ad for GT6, albeit one that is seriously out of date.

Nothing in it should be taken to reflect how the game will actually be, but one can infer what Sony/PD thought of the Course Maker shortly before release. Confident enough to spend money on advertising, at least.

the course maker in GT6 is becoming the new GTA 5 Heists , promised on launch , but a year later and still nothing.
It was promised at launch, on GT's website it always said in a futur update so it's definitely not like GTA 5 Heists unless I missed something and PD said that there'll be no more unpdates for the game. However, R* gave different dates and we're still waiting for it. Last time I checked, it was supposed to come last month but then I heard that it'll come with the PC release of the game so I'd say PD is doing a better job by not giving any dates.

Quoted for truth, if everyone can just read and understand what Imari wrote that would be great.

If Kaz said that, he was overly confident because I remember him saying that the Course Maker just went Beta, and the game was released roughly about 9 months before he said that. So if he thought the Course Maker would make it for release, either they were having issues with it before release, or he was lying to make people buy GT6.

Now, I don't believe in that video, PD would have done something that would reveal a bit more infos about it and they would have probably posted an article on PitStop.

If video is anything to go by track maker will be a simple spline tool Just as I thought with procedural side road object's . Knowing pd logic we only be able to place splines and not tweak the surface's. Every track will be super smooth :(

I hope we'll be able to be really creative with our tracks and its landscape. I hope we'll also be able to pick the pitlane side, building, the way we want to drive the track reverse or not, etc... I just want more freedom while doing it.

Hypetastic speculation paragraph that's probably not true: They probably held this advertisement back for release on a date that would be close to the release of the actual Course Maker, such as today.
This sounds likely to me.

The ad company would have to be insane to just release a video like this if they ever want to do work for Sony again.

That video was probably commissioned long before release, and it looks like a teaser that was at one time intended to be seen just before the release date. It can easily be re-edited now to include more info, but they probably just threw the old edit up so they have something to embed when they make the official announcement, which should be any minute now.

I surely hope you're right.

I wouldn't want to speculate too much, but assuming that it's not just a cock-up I'd say that the only reason that they'd post it is if relations with Sony have broken down already.

The first thing that springs to mind is that Sony delayed paying them for it until it was to be used, which isn't entirely unreasonable given that it'd probably need a bit more work done on it before a real release, which might result in increased fees. Paying all at once is nice and easy. However Pulse may have been a bit over this idea after a year and may have told Sony to cough up, and Sony may have simply told them to shove it.

Completely made-up situation based on absolutely nothing at all, but it's the sort of thing that could happen (and the sort of thing I've seen happen in other industries with manufacture-on-demand products). No business needs a customer that doesn't pay, and Pulse doesn't seem like they need every last dollar to simply keep the doors open.

If you look at the rest of their videos on Vimeo, Pulse have got some pretty high profile clients if those are all ads they've been paid to make. I'd say they probably know how to deal with the big boys.

For all we know it could be in the contract that Pulse can use any ad made as part their portfolio after X amount of time, no matter whether the ad is used or not. It's always possible that there was a screw up in posting it (in which case we'll probably find out in the next week or so as news propagates back through official Sony/Polyphony/Pulse channels), but it seems less likely to me than an intentional move motivated by things that we're not aware of.

Could be the same how AMG were so proud to announced the E63 and A45 along with the other AMG cars for GT6. The plug got pulled at some stage with no official confirmation by PD/Sony.

I don't think the video is anything to go by. First because it's about a year old (judging by the hashtag in the end) and second because it's basically just an artistic interpretation of what's on the website:

"we will add the possibility to generate a track by capturing the GPS coordinate data of a mobile app while you are driving that course. This GPS-generated tracks will be available in the game as playable content."

well we still don't have it so it doesn't make it any better...

It's going to be a GPS system, measuring elevation above sea level.

Hardly placing splines but whatever

:boggled: how do they get that data to show in game what's going to create and connect the different height data......Spline's you don't have to place them that's the whole point but that means super smooth track. trust me.

Here's a look at a splined track i am working on but obviously i have a vast array of tweaks i can do . that i almost certain pd wont give us .... they don't like giving us options for simple things

Another distinct possibility, this being an advertising company and all, is that they're submitting it to awards shows and uploaded it to Vimeo for that reason. I worked on a similar awards show last year here in Canada, and while we required a campaign actually had to be public in its entirety for submission, perhaps this one doesn't, just so long as some of the other ads were aired at some point.

...

There's no reason to think this confirms an imminent Course Creater-holding update for the game. It's certainly strange, and might mean it's upcoming, but at this point, the only thing I'd consider actual confirmation would be my PS3 telling me there's an update.
