Well I can unequivocally say the Mercedes VGT (Non aero) Can be painted I was in the process of it yesterday, The BMW I can somewhat understand I mean who would want to lose the BMW racing warpaint :sly:

Ugh, I like that the new VGT is paintable, but I fear the online rooms are going to be filled with chromed monstrosities the 'Scumbag Steve' kids will enjoy ramming you with.

The Mitsu actually looks good in Chrome . . .

I struggled to find a good colour because of the red highlights and did consider Chrome.

One of the reasons I don't race online unless with friends/friends of friends.

Scotia White might work, It is a Mitsubishi colour after all.

It's still better than not having it. Personally, I don't tend to spend much time looking at the buildings when racing, I tend to focus on the track and they got that part right so I'm quite happy. Would have been nice to see the period-correct scenery? Sure. Is having modern buildings there going to prevent me from enjoying the hell out of the new track layouts? No f'ing way, I'm mega chuffed that we have new options to enjoy (regardless of what the buildings look like).

Yeh totally agree, just had a quick spin round the GP circuit and they've done the re-profiling really well 👍

I was really hoping for tarmac run-off round Paddock Hill though but I'm just knit-picking. Brands 1985 is special to me; it's my local track (kind of, Thruxton is closer) and the 1985 GP where Prost won his first championship and Mansell won his first race happened the day before I was born!

I hear ya. Indy is my local track and the road course has changed significantly since the F1 layout we have in the game, I would really love to have any of the newer layouts but I'm still very happy we at least have what we do. My first proper introduction to F1 was at the layout we have now so I still enjoy it. I was there one week ago and got to stand on the apex of the big infield hairpin, and had a big :D.

Sorry, this was off-topic and I will go sit in the corner with my :dunce: hat on.

Ahm what? I never race online.

Well they're cars aren't they?Or they supposed to look like something else?
I prefer it they were more unique to each other. They all look the same as each other.

One thing people must keep in mind regarding the 80's tracks is that they are specifically called layouts, not new tracks. No claim was ever made that they would be new tracks modeled to period detail. They are the current version with the old layout as promised.

on tracks like the Brands Hatch GP circuit and the Italian circuit of Monza, which have been given a complete makeover in order to restore their original layouts from the '80s.

They might have only called them a layout but I would hardly call what they've done a 'complete makeover', would you?

But.....but.....I wanted!!! :scared:

According to what you've told me, you don't even play this game, yet I see you in almost every thread on here complaining not only about the game but about people enjoying the game. I don't knit, but you don't see me seeking out knitting forums just to complain to knitters that the yarn their using is crap.

Christ on a bike, you can't say anything these days without it being labeled as complaining. I merely asked him a question.

Well, let's see.....

First of all I said that Monza was ok because it hasn't changed that much aesthetically, but there are still differences.

If you think the version in game really looks like anything like that well then, it's not me with the vision issues and no, I'm not referring to the picture quality.

Brands Hatch on the other hand was very poor, it has all the modern buildings, nothing changed, not even the kerbs or run offs.

I'm really getting tired of this place, having to defend my opinion to the nth degree just because it's negative. I also do not appreciate being called stupid.

Yes, you are. The video was to show that other games put more effort into modeling the old tracks. Nothing more. You then saying other things don't look good was off topic, whether true or not.

They've had ample time, if they wanted to get them done. Obviously they chose not to.

No. F1 2013, Shift2, Project CARS. Just three examples of games doing a far better job with classic tracks than PD. PD are better funded than all 3 and better staffed than at least 1.

Nobody would expect a perfect representation but they haven't even tried, unlike other companies.

You close your eyes on straights and in loading screens? Great if you are happy but there is no denying they have made a poor effort. To call these tracks 80's is misleading, they've only done half the job.

Maybe if you made some posts that weren't full of complaining, people wouldn't label you as a complainer. Most of us are here because we try to enjoy the game and want to discuss it/learn about it, and most of us have accepted that this is a half-assed game at best and don't have high expectations, but it can still be enjoyed. Having to sift through all this negative, vile hatred that accomplishes nothing makes it quite difficult to do so. Criticize, complain, whinge, it's all fine and has it's place but when 4 out of every 5 posts is nothing but childish bitching, well that seems like a giant waste of energy and internets to me. Christ on a bike indeed, but I'd imagine you'll just complain that the background isn't accurate to Jesus times, and obviously his bike wouldn't have had shock absorbers on it.

EDIT: Apologies to the OP and mods, I won't exert any more energy or bandwidth on this mindless bickering.

Sorry, but "complete makeover" definitely sounds to me like they're completely remodeling the circuit. I'm not surprised though. Somewhere along PD's self-ascribed relentless pursuit for perfection they decided to stop going the full distance with stuff like this.

It's up to you to interpret my posts as you so wish but to label a question as complaining is just ridiculous.

PS as long as I follow the OP I am free to post what I like. If you don't want to read them I encourage you to ignore me.

Lotus F1 also have the "other" parts. Mostly modify how the "12" and the logo arranged on the side:

1- Removes "12" and one logo from 2 logos.
2- "12" is relocated on the air duct. The logo kept intact.
3- Removes "12" but added another one logo so it becomes 3 logos.

It was a rather whiny question.
Maybe we should leave this thread to... Oh I don't know.... 💡

I got it! Let's dedicate this thread to undocumented changes! :dopey:

Exactly my point, I came here to find out about undocumented changes and so far we just have multiple pages of whinging, as usual. The undocumented changes threads are always my favorite and I enjoy spending my work day (when the boss isn't looking) reading through them and finding out what's waiting for me when I get home! But so far, today has been nothing but complaining. I guarantee even if they had remodeled the tracks with the old buildings and scenery people would have complained that "the shade of brown on the building is 2% darker than it should be. And that's not the correct strain of grass for this part of the continent. STOOOOPID KAZ!!! ARRRGGHHH!!! HATE GAME!!!! MUST GO TO THE INTERNET TO WHINGE!!! :scared::scared::scared:"

I, for one, am looking forward to hooning these open-wheeled cars (which I've wanted for a long time) around any and all tracks. And if I find any undocumented changes I'll share them here (which is the purpose for this thread, not discussing the changes, arguing about the changes, or complaining about the changes, per the OP).

Already stated :)

Iffy.

Layouts is Polyphony's generic term for alternate track maps, ie. Suzuka Full, Suzuka West, and Suzuka East is three layouts.

To my knowledge they've never done an alternate that was an earlier version of a track before. They change the surroundings of current layouts to suit them, adding barriers and cones as appropriate. That a period change requires a larger change in the surroundings isn't a reason to not expect them to be there.

If something is labelled as '85 Brands Hatch, I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that it is actually a reasonable replica of '85 Brands Hatch. If the track was labelled '85 Brands w/ Modern Surroundings or some such, then sure.

Given what we know of PD and their work methods it was also a reasonable assumption that they were going to shortcut it like this, but I think in general if something is made into a retro version, you do it all. If random developer says that their new racing game has '85 Brands Hatch, you expect a full period version, not the '85 layout with modern surrounds.

A 2002 RX7 doesn't become a 1978 RX7 simply by changing the engine, drivetrain and suspension. Sure, it might drive identically to a 1978 RX7, but the fact that it looked like a 2002 would put some people off. You could work around this by only driving from bumper, not watching replays or whatever, but the fact remains that it's not entirely a 1978 RX7.

The same problem applies here. What they've done is nice and all, but they've not entirely made '85 Brands. For people who were interested in immersing themselves in that period of racing, it's a let down.
