So I couldn't find a Project Cars thread anywhere on the forum. I am asking because I need to order a ps4 or Xbox one. Since GT looks like its not going to be released on PS for atleast a year or 2, I was wondering if we were still going to get a sim racer on that console. Driveclub seems like its geared towards being more arcady. Anyone played project cars yet? How are the physics compared to those of GT?

WAIT wait when is project cars coming out??? did they release a release date?!?

I'm holding off on a PS4 until a good racing game is out on it since I mainly play that genre

They say coming 2014... but many pc gamers say its too arcady... but thats compared to pc sims... Im wondering how it compares to what im used to :S

The only thing I can say about PCars is that in comparison to GT - car variety will be down some way. It might offer a few vehicles per "class" of car but certainly not anywhere near the amount GT has.

Iam a p cars investor since early on, and its awesome, wait till u hear the sounds alone, its emphasis is on sim racing, guys like ben collins have been fine tuning the cars to get them as realistic as possible, the game so far has huge potential, the other game that compares to it is assetto corsa, both are leagues ahead of gt6, dont get me wrong I love gt, but I hold no allegiance to any game, maybe gt7 will top both these tittles but for now p cars and assetto reign supreme, btw pcars out on all platforms November 2014

ah still says that? but yeah PC gamers have a lot of good sim racing but us console gamers don't have much so this game will probably be the best

Only thing wrong with pcars atm is the crash physics can go nuts sometimes, but they r working on it

Bare in mind that the only console release of a product from simbin/slightly mad, etc was race driver. And with all their licensing issues and no publisher support for 1st party its not looking like pcars will materialize on consoles any time soon.

Also, the game was started well before new consoles and they likely don't have dev kits (also a publisher dependency) and their claims are little more than PR to drive more investor interest.

Anyone else still waiting for GTR2 on console?! It been listed for years, and still listed as coming to console on simbin a site...

Keep in mind, I use sim bin as reference and include all spin off groups from them that are still independent. The informed of you will understand what I mean.

Oh thats a LONG time :S was hoping it would be quarter 1 or 2 like they say in the post

I hope pCARS is fun and has full of variety like GT6, being a car collector like myself who seeks fun races. ^.^

They have had dev kits for ages, the game was written for pc anyway so will translate to ps4's x86 architecture very easily, also they have not been taking investment for a long time now, they have had all the investment they needed for ages.

Ive been watching the ps4 development happen so I can assure it is happening

BTW can you still invest in the game? How? Is it like owning shares or do you just get a few bonuses until the official release? I know testers are playing it on PC, is there a similar early build on consoles?

No membership was locked down about a year ago. I am a member of P Cars too.

The game has been in development for the new consoles with a while now. It will be available for the new consoles.

That is encouraging! I stand corrected and never been more pleased to be wrong... Are they self publishing? (Ouch) or has anyone partnered with them on the publishing side? At least for wide distribution... Unless they go digital only...

They are publishing it themselves, they didnt want any pressure from a separate publisher so they could make the game they wanted to make without interference

I see PCars as targeting the serious console sim racers for PS4. Rather than invest in a new PC I am waiting for PCars to drop then I'll get PS4, in the meantime it's GT6 for another year. I am really hoping they don't water it down for console play to make it easy for the masses like PD does with GT. All it takes is difficulty sliders to make a game that appeals to everyone, along with sufficient driving aids available if you need them. Can't wait for next Christmas!!

Wasn't Shift 2 developed by Slightly Mad? Could be wrong though.

I would love another sim racer on PS4 in addition to GT, as hopefully we would get a game where sounds are acceptable amongst other things 👍

Well, about physics in pCARS I have to say that there is a lot work to do yet. There is a problem with the mass of the cars, they just don´t feel and look natural...any experienced sim racer can tell you that. (many will disagree because they are blinded by its graphics and probably never played rFactor, rFactor 2, nKP, GSC 2012/2013, or Assetto Corsa)

I have pCARS since October 2011 when all started, the graphics are good yet there are things I personally don´t like but can be turned off on PC of course. (like the lens flares, or motion blur which I hate so much)
Sometimes even by the game looking great, there are some details that can be better, like the asphalt textures and such which sometimes looks way saturated and the colour palette could be way better than it is compared to GT5/6 and now Assetto Corsa which in a more simplistic way is looking better than pCARS in my opinion. (I also have Assetto Corsa, physics are more realistic, cars feel like they have mass, you can see the weight transfer working with the suspensions and all, yet they have to improve the FFB and some things...but they are way ahead of what pCARS has to offer at the moment)

pCARS is not a NFS Shift though, but if the "mass" problem I am referring is a graphics engine issue, I doubt that they can change it...maybe compensate somehow, but since I play rFactor 2 (which is playing in other league when it comes to simulation despite its graphics which sometimes can look really good too), GSC and AC,...pCARS in the simulation aspect is way behind them as of now...I just can´t enjoy the driving...it doesn´t feel natural in the wheel and in the visuals. (best way to find out is by playing it)

AI is good, you can actually race with the AI, they can beat you and fight with you. You can have fun with it.

Car list is getting better because we are the ones choosing which cars the game will include in it...I´m not sure at the moment how many cars will be at the end though. The variety is actually pretty good, some, open wheelers from Skip barber, F3000 to F1´s, LMP, DTM, GT, Street/road, Supercars, some licences like Mercedes Benz, McLaren and some more.

It has some positive things...but as a hardcore simulator fan, at the moment is not making out for me in that aspect. Is not bad and is way to early to say the final word about it. Game is updating every day, sometimes they make a car feel better, sometimes they ruin a car, then they fix it...etc.
Is too early to give a final opinion. Career mode is under construction, it has online and it works. Leaderboards...etc.

Yes it was, with EA on board from the beginning. And this forced it into the need for speed wheel house. So the where more of a "work for hire" than publishing their own game.

It wasn't what slightly mad would have created given more freedom. I was very close to (but not a part of) the first shift publishing side.

The sounds were top notch because of Charles Deenen and everything he touches is golden on the audio side. His work on some games in the 90's is still better than stuff in today's dulby 5.1 products.

Ah, fair enough. I just remembered seeing their logo upon start-up of Shift 2, but like you said EA 'hired' them, which I assume means that SMS were limited by various factors such as time constraints etc, so they couldn't implement everything that they wanted to 👍.

I'll probably get hounded for saying this but I would love to see a sim racer for PS4 which combines GT's attention to detail with the excitement of the Shift series.
I would love to play GT with Shift's sounds, tracks, visual effects during high speed and crashes etc. That would probably be my most favorite racer ever 👍

Would be amazing if PCars achieves something like this, and it could be the game that some posters on here are waiting for.

teh pics you posted look better than GT6 in my opinion. Anyways im just curious because the physics comparisons you made were all with PC sims. Any idea of how it would hold up against GT physics why?

The best cars in PCARs are better/more realistic than GT6, the ones that are not so good are not as good as GT6. I believe the final product will be better than GT6 in the physics, but it's hit and miss at the moment. When it works it works really well, but there is some funky stuff going on too.

I'd be surprised if they can match Assetto Corsa/Rfactor 2 level of physics, but the devs seem confident that with all of the features enabled in the physics and tyre model and the tweaks to the cars the final product is going to be up there.

I think this thread would be most suitable in the "Console & PC Gaming" section since its the closest you can get with the lack of an actual PCARS section.

Use something comparable like Asetto Corsa to bench mark against.
I believe P.C.A.R.S. now has at least one track in common with Asetto.

Some comparisons for you to take a look at.

Well in pCARS are more post processing effects and all the rest...but the overall look in Gran Turismo 6 is more organic having in mind the details of each circuit and the colour palette.

But if GT6 runs in a more powerful machine it will look like photomode...like this (again pics of mine a couple of minutes ago):

Well don´t want to spam this thread because is not about pics.

About the physics...having in mind how the weight transfer of the cars feel in GT6 and the distribution of it while braking and such...for me is better than pCARS. You can feel the mass of the cars in GT6 and that is way important in a simulation.
The FFB in GT6 misses one thing, the loss of grip in the tyres, but that is compensated in how you feel the weight of the car in your wheel...you feel connected to it. But that is something needed though.

In pCARS sometimes you loose the car because the weight transfer is almost null, you also notice it when you go off the track and the car starts to shake like crazy. Suspensions and tyres are being worked and they are making some progress, that is fine at the moment.
I just can´t get that "natural feeling" while driving.

I play rFactor 2 a lot, Game Stock Car and Assetto Corsa, all of them feels right, the weight of the cars, the loss of grip, suspensions, and how everything is connected and given to your hands.

Not saying that pCARS will be bad though...there is a long way to go (a year almost to its release)...so if they solve those problems the game can be at the top...IF they solve them.

I gave my feedback a while back.

thanks everyone. Thats a lot of help. I guess wel have to wait for next year then. Perhaps by then both GT and PCars will be released on next gen ;)

Yes! No, I'm not hounding you.

Shift is excitement - no other racer makes my blood rush the way it does. But GT6 is . . . so . . . absorbing. And the physics are just that tad more realistic.
