Id even like something like you qualify and depending on your performance the AI adapt to your performance level so you have to work your butt off to win a race as they are racing what ever level your racing

That's an interesting idea but if you're a competent racer and just happen to have a bad qualifying session once you're not going to want to race against a bunch of Max Chilton's because of it, are you?

GT6 was released because there's still more people that own PS3s than PS4s, and Sony/PD needs the money. In 2 to 5 years from now PD will release a PS4 version Gran Turismo. It's good that Sony made the PS4 64bit x86 based so theoretically if Sony, and PD really wanted to they could make Gran Turismo for iMac, Linux, Windows, and even XB1.

Gran Turismo will always be Gran Turismo until Kazunori Yamauchi doesn't have control of developing the series anymore then it won't be Gran Turismo as we know it today. That could be good or bad how ever you look at it.

I'm still bummed not having BMW E30 M3s, and BMW E28 5 series in the game, and Gran Turismo Series direct competitor Forza Motorsport Series had these cars since the second version. How can the real driving simulator not have the BMW E30 M3 the car that won the most in FIA Group A Touring Car Racing History? I guess Kazunori Yamauchi must hate BMW E30 M3s even Keiichi Tsuchiya raced them.

I have been a Gran Turismo enthusiast ever since GT1. One of the things that always made Gran Turismo stand out was the attention to detail, the realism and effort that have gone into the games. GT6 feels like something the interns put together in their spare time using GT5 as a base

That's because this is GT 5.5 or if you can't handle that truth, it's the GT 5 we should have gotten back in 2010. I'm loving it so far because my expectations weren't rediculously optimistic. My only gripe is the payout for races better change because I WILL NOT buy credits with real money…EVER

Funny that since the days of pole position on atari, our genre is know as "racing games", but all of a sudden the GT fanboys start talking about "driving games" now... must be because the racing sucks? :dopey:

all of a sudden 15 years ago your dad probably played the real driving simulator

You remind me of a case of hemmeroids, yes I know the damn title has been driving simulator since day 1, what I mean is that back in the day, you (and your mommy) would have classified the game as a racing game... You don't get it do you?

That's the thing now, nobody will admit a game that comes out if a true sequel anymore its always just a half assed version of the predecessor, and you know what to a point, its completely true. Look at Forza games. I haven't played 5 so its hard to tell exactly, but I know what they added and it's cool and all but I hear it kinda has the same syndrome as 3 and 4. They were the same games just polished up a little and a few cars and tracks substituted. Same thing happens with NFS they are all the same, the drive the same, look mostly the same, and you can pretty much guess what i's gonna be like before ever playing it. That's how racing games are today, but I have to say, track wise, GT6 added a hell of a lot and really improved from 5, cause in 5 you went to the same places every damn race. This is pretty refreshing

Have you tried to get out of the GT5 mind set of tuning, PP and etc. @turbohayabusa? People are slowing finding out that the tune to PP or a set power number isn't working as it did in GT5. The days of overly tuning and using the power limiter to get the car to a solid PP number if long gone.

Addition:

Look to the pass for some help. 👍

I mean come on, a 700hp car on sport soft and the rear tires don't loose grip in second gear.

Well yea I dont expect the car to loose grip. Sport softs are one step removed from racing hards. Go try sport hard which are more analogous of performance street tires and you'll find your wheel spin.

I always hate to watch those Let's Play Videos where some kid do a walkthrough of some fps and all he is doing whole time is running , running , running ... not a second, to stop and turn around ,enjoy enviroment ,whatewer ...no ... just running through to finish game ASAP! What the hell ? Sign of the times ? Does anyone really finds fun in that ? It's just like eating perfect meal in minute while reading newspaper :D Stop running ,start enjoying

Would you have branded GT a driving game 10 years ago? I think nobody would have to be honest, so this whole new "driving game" phrase is (to me) just something fans say to disguise the fact that PD can't deliver what is expected from them gamewise.

I think really they could only be classed nowadays as "driving games" or "driving simulators" as we now have the technology to accurately represent all the nuances of driving. 10 years ago (ok, more like 20) we didn't. Although I fondly remember playing the original Test Drive and thinking "wow this is so realistic!". How did I know, I was about 8. Lol.

Oh man, I am not alone!! I spend quite a while sometimes just exploring. Looking at the vistas. In GT games I have always loved taking my cars for a hotlap then I love watching the replays. I only race really to get money to buy more cars.

I didn't know there were this many responses! I am used to getting email notifications to threads I participate in.

Physics are COMPLETELY off in this game anyway. Since none of us will actually drive 99% of the cars in the game its completely possible for the designers to snowball gamers. Here is a little proof!

I conducted a little test, all three cars used 261mph gearing.

SRT Viper- 1087hp = 245mph
ZR1 - 1050hp = 251mph

What do you think the brick wall aka Shelby GT500 does with the least amount of hp- 1020HP??? 252mph (highest speed) NO nitrous on any of the cars.

That isn't being just a little bit off folks, that is BIG TIME error's on the physics.

My point is don't advertise a game as a "simulator" when the physics are laughable.

So you have a game with miss categorized cars, improper PP, and inaccurate physics. Mine as well be need for speed.

You do realize there's a thing called aerodynamics, right? Just because you set some gearing to that speed doesn't mean it will go that fast. Some cars have better drag coefficients that others. Not only that, there's also spoilers that increase downforce and lower top speed.

And improper power points isn't even something in real life; so how can you say it's improper if it's something the game developers came up with?

Yeah the GT500 should not be the fastest of those three cars...it is the heaviest and also the least aerodynamic of the trio

It pains me to say I have never regretted buying a Gran Turismo game in my life until now. I just beat story mode after picking the game up yesterday. The performance points are crazy, I feel like someone pulled a number out of a hat and said "lets use this number for this car". For example the over weight, under powered 2000 Lamborghini Diablo shares the EXACT same PP as the 08 Lambo Revention, 09 Murcielago LP 670 SuperVeloce etc., 2006 & 2005 Ford GT have the EXACT same numbers for everything however the 06 gets 567pp an the older 2005 is rated higher at 571pp. Same story with the BMW M5 (08 513pp & 2005 BMW M5 gets 521PP.) The driving line is 100% useless for braking. You can find the Gen II Vipers with SRT instead of Dodge. This game feels like a rough draft that someone just said "ok good enough" without even a proof read. Its basically GT5 with harder to control cars and a different main screen. Standard models are still here. I do not drag race online, but you would think since every other online room is a drag room they would include a drag track like in GT4.

lmao these are the exact same things people said about GT5. I swear there are people being born in the world now whose sole purpose in life is to come into threads and whine about the next GT iteration from PD. btw - I'm loving it. :)

GT6, simply put it one of the best racing games I have ever played on any format.. I have completed 45% of the game since Saturday 7th, enjoying it very much, those 15 minute races are a killer though.. and that redbull at Goodwood, my oh my, I still have the goose bumps.. GT6 KICKS AR*E!

If they sort the sound out on every car, allow wheel spacers to fill out wheel arches.. I'm happy!

Well I couldn't disagree more. I think it is much more realistic. Looks and feels much better than any driving game I've ever played.

Each to their own

Damn. Playsome sims man lol. gt looks good but theres better out there. Don't get me wrong i love GT. And GT has a variety of cars. But it still will never be the best sim PERIOD.

I know, right?! WAAAAAAAY too many drag and drift rooms in both GT5 and GT6. It's really hard to find a free-run-screw-around-do-whatever room in GT6, and it seems that whenever I do, it's always at Nurburgring or Indy Road Course. FUUUUUUUUUUU

Geez, reading these threads, sounds like we've got some seriously impatient gamers out there. Luvin the game so much I'm seeing stars.
