Damn. Playsome sims man lol. gt looks good but theres better out there. Don't get me wrong i love GT. And GT has a variety of cars. But it still will never be the best sim PERIOD.
Just the fact that you can play it with a controller shows that it's not a real simulator. It's impossible to drive on most of the PC sims with a controller.

Well.......... Before I got my DFGT Wheel. I played all the Sims with my dual action Logitech gamepad. and then my Xbox 360 controller for windows. but preferred the dual action, cause better buttons for upshift/downshifts. PC Sims have way more options to play with as far as controller sensitivity is concerned.

sorry spelling not great. on my zero 7 pro tablet.

Don't want to sound rude OP, but I think you've skipped so many events that begged for your attention, and instead went through collecting certain number of stars to move on to the next event list. That's what I believe has happened, you didn't fully complete career mode by gather all stars in all said event list. Sure, I've unlocked International Bi, but I've back tracked to finish National B and A to get all stars. Besides, you actually win a car when you acquire half the stars in said event list.

Must be because of the quality of the gamepad. I've only played with some chinese crap. I'll try investing on better gamepad and do what you said then.

OP Clearly did NOT clear the story mode in two days. The fact that he is under the impression that he did invalidates his viewpoint entirely,IMO. I happen to find A spec pretty fun, to be honest. I cant say much about the driving line (other than one time on the new tracks, it stays off) but when I did use it, it was fine. And TBH the Reventon was not too much different from the murcielago in term of specs and performance to begin with (i always saw it as an LP6with an Lp7 body) and the diablos are not just diablos, they are the GT & GT2. Bringing the performance curve alot closer between said cars. Go look them up.

Question, which PC sim did you play with worst physics than GT6. Try playing Assetto Corsa or Game Stock Car 2013 and then play GT6. You will see how arcade like GT6 is. As far as looks, like I said before, Gt6 can rival any game out there. I mean I feel like I want to pass-out with the amount of g-force I am hitting these corners with.

I have played older pc stuff but not the latest iracing or Assetto Corsa. I would like to but I gave up on the hassle of configuring sound cards etc years ago. Windows is still frustratingly sh**e. I may try Assetto soon.

I would like to try PCars once I've got a PS4 but it's made by those who made SHIFT 2 so I'm not confident from a physics or stability point of view.

I know things have moved on but I still think Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix was a great game for the time.

I didn't know there were this many responses! I am used to getting email notifications to threads I participate in.

Physics are COMPLETELY off in this game anyway. Since none of us will actually drive 99% of the cars in the game its completely possible for the designers to snowball gamers. Here is a little proof!

I conducted a little test, all three cars used 261mph gearing.

SRT Viper- 1087hp = 245mph
ZR1 - 1050hp = 251mph

What do you think the brick wall aka Shelby GT500 does with the least amount of hp- 1020HP??? 252mph (highest speed) NO nitrous on any of the cars.

That isn't being just a little bit off folks, that is BIG TIME error's on the physics.

My point is don't advertise a game as a "simulator" when the physics are laughable.

So you have a game with miss categorized cars, improper PP, and inaccurate physics. Mine as well be need for speed.

Drag coefficients:

Shelby GT500 - .35
Viper - .369

You were saying?

Yeah man, start building your PC now so by the time Assetto Corsa goes fully live off beta you will be ready for the mods that will be free downloads. It's like having new games and just purchased one. You don't need a killer PC to run these games either. I have a hd 7870 to install but I don't need it. Mother Boards now come with hi def sound man, no need for sound cards. I run the games with 2 gtx 460s that i bought on ebay for 60 bucs and it looks beautiful. I think Pcars will be like gt6 but more but not a visually pleasing. It looks good in hi res screen shots but it doesn't look that good when in a race like GT6.

+10 for Geoff Crammond's F1 GP series.

You'll be pleased to know that unless you are using specialist 3rd party cards for recording music, there is almost no sound card setup issues these days. Most PC's have integrated high fidelity sound on the motherboard now.

Finally, I know it is unpopular to say it around here, but SHift 2 is the best console racer I have played for a long time. I still play it on a weekly basis. If you take the time to get used to the challenging instability, it really is an excellent racer. (PS. everyone, I won't be engaging in any further discussion about Shift 2, it's my opinion & discussion won't change it!)

You made me interested, maybe i pick up a cheap copy :D
Not the first time i hear someone talking positive about shift 2 on the forum here.

It's by no means perfect - there are some glaring bugs, however it is now available at bargain bin pricea & is worth it for the quick racing alone (you still have to gain cars & cash, but that can be done through quick racing anyway)

Just read the review from the same gamespot guy that reviewed GT6, he also scored it a 7 i think but seemed more positive about it (especially racing, career and sounds).
Love the amount of customization he mentioned (like the days of GT1 when you could RM a lot of normal street cars), and the cockpit views.

He said the handling was a bit unpredictable and arcady, do you agree or can you remove the aids, tweak your wheel settings and make it more simmy?

You can remove all the aids, and do a lot of setup - very full suspension settings. I don't describe it as sim vs arcade though.

Shift 2 is much, much less grippy, the steering feels loose, and the default car setups feel pretty bad. When you first play it after playing any GT you will at first think "this is undrivable" - I, and many others did anyway. The only reason I persevered was because my missus bought it for me as an xmas present :/ - however after some long sessions round brands & spa I just started reveling in the challenge. You can probably pick it up for 5 or 10 euro so probably worth a punt. The livery editor is a nightmare mini-game in itself though!

Last question as people will take a crap at us for going off topic; but can you find the right balance in the end through the tuning? Rendering out that unpredictable behaviour?

Often it depends on the car - what I have found though is that now, I can drive cars even on their default settings without thinking about it too much. There's still plenty of sites with shift 2 set-up recommendations. If you do get it pm me & I'll tell you some of the bugs to avoid and send you some useful links etc...

{apologies for going OT everyone :/ }

That's the thing now, nobody will admit a game that comes out if a true sequel anymore its always just a half assed version of the predecessor, and you know what to a point, its completely true. Look at Forza games.

I agree.

That's why I stick to my opinion this is GT 5.5. I'm really impressed with the track selection, clean home screen layout and the physics - it now "feels" like cars behave IRL and I can go around a corner without ridiculous tire squeal followed by sudden explosive and inappropriate catastrophic loss of grip.

If we had received this GT following GT 4 instead of the half baked product we did receive, I believe a lot of people would be awestruck and rightfully impressed instead of warmly approving of GT 6.

Also GT 7 needs to be head and shoulders above GT 6 in graphics and in innovation. Kaz and his crew need to come up with something remarkable

GT6, simply put it one of the best racing games I have ever played on any format.. I have completed 45% of the game since Saturday 7th, enjoying it very much, those 15 minute races are a killer though.. and that redbull at Goodwood, my oh my, I still have the goose bumps.. GT6 KICKS AR*E!

If they sort the sound out on every car, allow wheel spacers to fill out wheel arches.. I'm happy!

Pretty much agree with you but I think the sound is a vast improvement over GT 5.

Perfect? No, but it is better

Ugh I wanted to like Shift and its sequel but the physics are so awful...not because they are unrealistic or arcade-like, because I play a lot of arcade racers and wouldn't have minded that at all. The handling was just bad, regardless of realism. If you were driving something low-power and front wheel drive, it was fun. But the second you stepped into one of the supercars you lost all sense of control. Cars seemed to spin on a central axis as if they had no connection with the road surface, kind of like in the first Dirt and Grid, only worse. I really hope Project Cars' physics are better, because everything about that game looks great and it would be a shame to ruin it with poor handling.

It should be...hopefully...with the new gen of consoles. This guy Ahsan Rasheed was supposedly at a tech demo for gt7 and said it was spectacular. He said "GT7 tech demo. Nothing to describe other than it looked amazing. It was snowing and at night. Cockpit view, then turned to outside of the car." Just go to his twitter account and scroll back to Nov 19.

Based on next gen graphics, as on DriveClub and NFS Rivals, should PD keep recycling their cars and tracks, I fear they'll receive very low scores regarding graphics.

I think the OP (any a lot of others too apparently) missed the point of the game... Sure, the game can be "beat" in like 8 hours, if you do nothing but collect enough stars to move up to the next class. BUt there is a lot to the game currently, and a lot more coming in the following months. Try participating in all of the events and get gold all over. BUt, since GT5 I can tell you, if you are playing GT for the in-game, a-spec racing, and you are a member of this forum, you are TOTALLY missing the best part of GT, and this forum. Online League racing. I got to maybe level 32 in GT5 in Aspec, and chances are I'll only get about 50-75% complete on GT6. I mean, if racing dumbed down, really not competitive robots is your thing, game on I guess, but you will find your BA, beat the game in a night skills will probably be lacking when you get into a good league. If you really want to enjoy this game, and test your racing mettle, go check out the clubs and leagues section of this forum.
