Well I’ve been on the alt account this arvo, gt7 on the ps4 😁 want to preserve my 28k dr and full sr and my boy found out that Roblox just dropped a ps5 version so I’m stuck racing the ps4 version 😁 at CC no less but I’m trying to spread some clean racing love and pull this account up into the BS too

Bro, all I’ll say is the try before you buy is very sound logic.

I procrastinated for years over it and once I brought it and tried it, it wasn’t for me, it’s cool I have to say, but I prefer a solid flat screen.

But you might love it so it’s got to be tried, it doesn’t quite look as good in the videos as it does in real life, I guess you weigh up the graphic drop for immersion etc

Vr is good fun and there are other games
Would make my life a damn sight easier and cheaper 😂

The cost of there rigs is no joke is it!

I’m really struggling to find a bucket seat that will fit my shoulders tho! Everything is folding me in and is uncomfortable. The playseat trophy is good as it’s a flat back so my shoulders just overlap the outside.

Honestly unless it’s for comfort reasons, there is zero reason to use a bucket seat, the rig needs to be stable and using GT7 levels of force etc you don’t need the lateral support. You (i/me) like the more just drop in to it convenience.

Remember comfortable outweighs lateral support and nomex suits in sim racing.

I us a GT omega RS9 XL (I’m a slight lad, 11st in a wet jumper) so it’s down to taste and ceremony really, I went for just drop in to an easy seat not belt up and check the fire suppressions working 🤣

Give it a go bro, life is about experiences so just do it.

As long as you’re semi prepared to buy the rig too, nothing lost 😁

Yeah as Glen said, youre over thinking it a bit. I think Glen and I have same rig, Titan rig with XL RS9. Honestly its a fantastic piece of kit for the price, I was lucky to find mine lightly used. Theres zero need for buckets in a rig that doesn't move.

Now, it is a biggish rig the titan, however, the footprint is not all that much bigger than much flimsier rigs. The big question is if your space is large, smaller or if you need to be able to move the rig. I have mine in my basement so tonnes of room, and it is on casters so I push it out of the way so controller based games can still be played and also the space doubles as a movie home theatre. The playseat is a real compromise, a solid rig is a revelation if you have the space and situation for it.

Im a bigger guy, and the RS9 is fine if a little short under the leg.

We do and it’s fantastic I think for GT gaming, and I’d probably say it was fine for serious esports stuff just lacks that final 5% adjustability.

And that we are different profiles shows how versatile the setup is.

I don’t have mine on castors it’s got a fixed position in my box room but I was a drag the rig in to the front room person and drag it off to the side again with my playseat etc.

But I’m with you, a bucket seat is hot to sit in, you aren’t bracing torso load in GT, it’s more awkward to get in to, it looks racy but you want to be racy not look racey.

I’d pick comfort over what seems motorsport because racing and GT aren’t the same thing

You and Glen are both 100% right, it is purely style over substance, but they just look so nice

I bought the playseat trophy as I needed to move it around (same reason as you for controller games and cinema) but I have just sold the big old treadmill that was taking up a large footprint in the cave so I have the perfect space to put a fully set up rig with bells and whistles. Feel like it would up my enjoyment a notch to have a fully rig.

I think I'm going to settle on the simlab GT Evo or the Fanatec GT Clubsport but it's just the chair now, I'm not sure what chairs other than bucket seats go on these rigs. Simlab do some XXL chairs.

One question, there is a local company here that sells sim gear and has this rig for same price as Simlab, am I better off just importing a simlab?

They also have a non bucket type sim seat that could do the job?

Just remember it’s about comfort and stability not looks or motorsport for good sim
Racing especially GT7 stuff there is no real loads other than pedals.

You do you, but buckets are awkward and hot/sweaty. Fine when in BTCC at knockhill a little overkill for Gr3 at deep forest….or Citroen at Catalunya

got back this morning.

Threw a few laps into race C quali and had a few races with A+ and A lobbies and high went how you’d imagine 😂

Glad to see nothing has changed since I’ve been away, I still sit there looking up longingly at @Barney Da Dog quali time
Cheers, I've not had a chance to improve it this week - on my week-on shift just now. It's still just had me starting as low as 14th though:boggled: But I've had some very intense races - not much wheel to wheel, but more strategic ones. Either pitting on lap 1 or waiting for the penultimate one and trying to push as hard as possible with no mistakes.

Honestly man, there's no need to spend that kind of coin, just get a Titan. I mean you know what, each to his own, we all splurge on what we want to splurge on, so I shouldn't say just get a Titan but if budget is a consideration, i cannot fathom better bang for buck.

Mate, that looks suspiciously like a trak racer tr160, head over to their website make sure you’re not paying over what you should, but that’s a decent rig, solid.

Yeah 100% - I'm just a bit limited with what I can try out over here as very limited stock so not much in the way of try before you buy, but I'm in no rush, I have a perfectly fine solution at the moment, I just have a simulator sized gap in the room and cash in my pocket from selling the treadmill so i'm being impatient

You're always a god barometer for me to see if I have pace or not as I am usually top 3 in B but no point in me pushing for A until I get get my times in and around yours. Finding Race C a little dull this week, not sure if it's because I've raced Gr3 for 3 solid weeks or due to the strategy meaning everyone pits at the beginning or the end, meaning if the guys around you do different then you've got 80% of the race solo.

I'm really limited on what can get over here, once you put shipping on to a cheaper rig it ends up coming out similar price to buying a higher end one here, I reached out to simlab for the rig and seat which was about 1100 Euro and it was 970 Euro on top to ship it :grumpy: - It's a shame the fanatec doesn't work for me as I have a voucher from my CC for virgin megastore that covers the cost of the rig

Yeah potentially it could just be rebranded or it could be one shipped from china as it's the autodrome here that has a sim racing zone in it. I think I will waiti until shipping goes back to normal and potentially just order the simlab

That is nuts mate! 😳
Ohhhhhhhhhhh never thought of that, yeah that's a real issue.
Yeah guys - super annoying. even buying it from the distributer here it's 200 quid more expensive 🤦‍♂️
Anyway - plenty of time to make a decision, as I said - there is no rush my side other than childish impatience!!!

How's everyone's racing going? Race C has been good for me, but a little dull. Looking forward to a new set of races next week.

Race B has been ok, I got my alt account up from CD to BS and the racing has been mostly very good.

Had a few races on my main account where I managed to start 14th against mainly AS and one major crash I managed to finish 5th so went immediately back to the alt account 🤣

Deep forest is such a difficult track to race at, no obvious places to pass unless a mistake ahead, or the hairpin and unless the other player is game for a pass its chaos

It’s been ok in B, some sweaty pushtopassholes

But on the whole fine but clumsy in the infield and hairpin. Normal deep forest
I generally end my week Thursday night and bunker on the couch Friday through Sunday nights with the mrs. I wait for Dr Merlot to do his thing then I can flick it over to something I want t watch.
I’ve just moved away from Cab Sav to Côtes du Rhône and wish I’d broadened my horizons earlier!

Hey @Stringerbell nice to see you in a race today. It didn't go well for both of us I believe?

I started P10, P9 was late with flooring the gas pedal at the start because he went slower and I could overtake him directly... Only for him to turn purposefully into me. Strange. He punted me out of T4.

So from last position I made my pitstop in lap 1. I think you started 5th, but suddenly I saw you close in sector 3. Did you have a spin?

I encountered the dirty guy again, didn't have any patience with him so I divebombed him, he went into me again but I overtook him. Thought he was going to punt me again but he drove cleanly from that point. I managed to recover to 10th, and saw you disappearing into the distance.

I don’t get a lot of these especially now but p2 was a god send we jostled but no contact.

Honestly needed a race like this as I’ve been top 2/3 splits for ages now.

Oh yeah I forgot, I like the strategy - Dr Merlot is a good accomplice!!!

Yeah good to see you my friend.

I think this was the race I got up to P4 on lap one and then an Indian driver behind me dive bombed me and then just kept accelerating coming out, hitting into me until he finally spun me, which was charming of him.

Lovely work Glen, I see those bottles of red were the magic ingredient you needed :)

I've followed suit with jumping on after a few drinks (Guinness for me as I'm not as refined as you fine gentleman). Got a P2 but damn it took soooooooo much concentration that it's one race and done for me.

@Bondwhar have you been racing? Not seen too much?

I’ll decline that one, nobody wants Glen who crashes all the time in their leaderboard ;) 🤣

Well luckily you are already friended up and in there, you won’t notice me at the very very bottom amongst the leaves and spider webs 😂

Long Beach GP this weekend. Thought some of you might like a picture of one of the race cars on display - it’s the Zanardi Target car, the one that made ‘the pass’ in the corkscrew!

That’s really cool, great track long beach

Cultural differences may be, but there are good eggs and bad eggs from any country.

It's important to begin on neutral ground, even when tempting to make assumptions (this includes benefit of the doubt when there's an incident).

Confirmation bias is very powerful.

In addition to the above post, left in place, regardless of assumptions otherwise the site staff here are not so stupid that we can't see right through allusions like that one.

I'm too old to be repeating this, so it's just permanent site bans from now on. Take this horsecrap elsewhere.
