Must be something wrong in my english. I couldn't quite follow this even if I tried to put myself in the shoes of someone who actually would be annoyed or not happy with the pace. 🤔 It seems if I say "It's not an apple", you answer "there is nothing wrong that its an apple".. and I recall we have had similar conversation before.
Mate you said gr3 cars on sm tires is the way forward, drove a high powered road car on them and said the understeer was bad, I said brake earlier accelerate later no understeer faster lap?

Yo compared the Ferrari GT3 to a road car not me, I merely said it’s faster as much better than you made it out to be.

Well. An evening in race A and I'm back down to DR B but as I'm enjoying the lapping/racing again I suppose it doesn't really matter?

I feel I've got decent pace over a single lap on this particular combo, just need more race consistency. 4th was my best finish.

Mate, I came to that conclusion a little while ago and to be honest it's made racing much much more enjoyable for me.

The DR really shouldn't matter to us at all (still does if I'm honest, but no where near as obsessed with it as before) as long as we can get good racing, doesn't matter if we're in an A+ lobby or a D lobby. Just need to remember it's a game and find the joy in racing.

That's why I set up the alt account in high B, means if it's a brand new combo where I'm off the pace or one like brands hatch where it's just a wreck fest then I'll use the alt and enjoy racing with people my pace stress free and not get pissed off if I get punted every other race

I'm my own worst enemy at times. After dropping to B lobbies and qualifying P1 or 2 I threw away virtually certain wins by getting complacent and careless during the last couple of laps.

Race C is fun. Even at times if I'm last, I still enjoy lapping about as Seaside is a lovely flowing track.

Apart from the Genesis being a true meta, what I'm even more amazed with is the custom liveries for this car. On the first page itself, I bookmarked 5 liveries. Such gorgeous & creative liveries for this car. Considering I'm choosy, I was astounded how many great liveries are available.

Decided on mount panorama this lunch and the FF Elantra, that’s a funny thing to drive, not sure if it’s the bop because I’m sure I was driving it in lobbies recently and it seemed like a decent car?

Managed a 2.16.xxx on a couple of laps prior to the race and it’s fairly good fun around there, something to get more dialled into, lobby gets a little sweaty at the first sign of unintended bumps, some things never change I guess 😁

But I’m liking a week with 2 races I like I have to say,

Going to switch between A & B where I can, with some more qualifying

About binning races from a good starting position, let's say from the first two rows.
I'm sort of an expert in this, but I improved a lot lately managing to "bin it" way less than usual.
The thing that helped me the most is doing C races almost every week (except La Sarthe and Nur24h).
Most of the times those are a double B race with a lil pause in the middle (or at leas that's how I see it). Still, the focus should last 23-25 min vs the 10 min of a B race.
Here are few habits that I developed thanks to race C:
  • In the first few laps the focus is only on my lines and marks. The mirror doesn't exist till the guy behind is at 1-1.5 sec. Then it's just lines and marks cause I breached the slip and usually the guy behind will start to overdrive to keep up, inevitably making some mistakes that helps me escape even more.
  • I force myself to not look to the delta either. If the guy behind me is faster he'll eventually catch up (doesn't happen often, but when it does there's no need to defend unless at the last few corners of the last lap).
  • If I manage to create a gap (buffer) of more than 2-3 sec, then I adapt my pace to the 2nd trying to keep that gap and save my tyres.
  • Quite important when training, I look for safer lines that allow to be fast without getting penalties. I surprised myself on that at Yas Marina; only one penalty in ar 10 races on Sunday and only few at Glen last weekend (none at Bus stop btw in 25 races => 125 laps!)

Bit over online racing becoming a one manufacturer race now... It's the real Hyundai simulator.

I never say no to Bathurst but I may this week, looks a true one make and just find the Grp4 FFWD cars soul destroying to drive and race, we literally booed them off the mountain 30 years ago. Milk comes in 2 litres, not engine displacement.

May give seaside a run and see if a car with low tyre wear can be competitive.

I'm definitely curious about Race A, if only because I love Road Atlanta. I don't think I've driven the RCZ Gr.3 Road Car, either, and that car in itself is a curiosity since it's got a drastically different drivetrain compared to the normal RCZ, being MR and FF respectively.

Spoken like a true V8 loving Aussie mate 🤣

If remember the race there months ago where the Mazda3 became the car, I think they just need a certain type of driving, like slowly on the accelerator etc, I fancy trying to get a grip of the car even if it does feel a little toothless

My goodness, is it just me or does the Elantra on hards just feel like a an absolute steaming pile of excrement round here?

I feel like my truck would be more nimble? I’m only a few laps in but it feels horrible to drive at the moment

And I've never owned one! Once my youngest is too big to sit in the back of my 997, I may switch it out for a V8 FType jut because V8.

It's too big a track for them, something a bit smaller works better.

Agreed. Without a perfect angle of attack, the front end plows into soul crushing understeer. The motor sounds and feels depressed. It has no flare or flavor.

Just had a sneaky race A whilst the dins was finishing itself off 😁 started 8th, finished 4th, 3rd finished 5th and 6th finished 3rd and we had a real good race between us,

Struggling to put the times in you boys are, 29.1xx or something similar but still great mid pack racing

Yeah it’s no fun mate to be honest, the Elantra was actually good fun round LM reverse but the hard tyres on it make it a complete understeer mess!

It’s a Shame as I love Bathhurst, hopefully one day they finally give us Gr3 round here on RM’s

I’ve scraped my time into the 1.14’s but didn’t have any enjoyment doing it.

If I race again this week I need to decide whether I want to learn how to drive a road car in race A as never done it or more likely I will go for race C

Yeah it’s not fun at all is it.

Nice work mate, I put a couple of laps onto A just now as I love road Atlanta, but Wowzers road cars feel different. Not sure I’ve got the skill to get on round in a quick fashion

It's a boring wheezy anemic car with zero personality and less enjoyment than a root canal. It's my opinion that FWD is the worst drivetrain for a race car outside of literally pedaling like Fred Flintstone

Grocery getter drivetrain, RWD and MR as baby jesus intended for race cars. If we're gonna do 2 lite turbo race cars let's do 80's Sierra with 500+Hp and RWD and explodey bits everywhere.

Haven’t raced for a few weeks. Back this week in part because of DTS.

Has anyone tried a non-meta car? If so, which one and was it better on tyre wear than the Hyundai Genesis (5 laps on softs and the tyres were almost 100% red!)?

Ps I must be a really un-sensitive driver as I can’t really feel much difference in the Gr3 cars post physics update.

Mate I've mentioned a few posts above Suzuki as the antimeta. It has better tyre wear & has as much acceleration + speed to overtake a Genesis too.

Other antimeta cars I've seen or suggested are RC F (worse tyre wear though) & BMW M6 (less top speed though).

Here is a brilliant lap guide by the controller GOAT - Calster 25. After the lap guide, he has put up a race with the Suzuki. Along with race, he's giving vital suggestions & tips for making the Suzuki Your trump card.

I saw an M6 win a race on Monday - tried a QT in it myself and, although it rides the kerbs much better than the Hyundai, it was 1.5 seconds slower for me.

Perhaps it races better than it qualifies?

I had a P2 finish yesterday, P3 was a Beetle, P4 was an Aston Martin Vantage!

I've changed my opinion on Bathhurst a bit, whilst I still love the track and the setting. I think it's actually only really fun to TT in, the races, especially for 4 laps are just a bit dull, there isn't actually anywhere to have any actual racing, you're looking to get a better exit out of forests elbow and pass down conrod and that's it really.

None of what you said is a lie :D

I'm having a good time with the Lambo. It goes 6 Med 6 Soft, has really good turn in through the CoD. It does however feel extremely sharp through the uphill esses and does want to swap ends the whole time you're passing through them but in terms of acceleration and overall speed in B/A - B/S lobbies it's very competitive.

I always QT on the worst tire so that I know how that's going to perform and my QT is a high :39:xxx. Soft tire race laps are between 37:xx - 39:xx. Your mileage may vary and I've found that B lobbies in GR.3 "Meta" matters much less than in higher lobbies or GR.4 races.

Took part in 2 races. One with Genesis & the other with the AMG.
In the first race, most players were punting each other so much (I got punted too at T4 & was dead last) that despite finishing P11, my DR still increased...LOL.

My second race with the AMG went well. Although understeery, heavier & no match for the Genesis, I still enjoy this car a lot. Finished in second. but could've finished in third. The player in third overtook me twice on the last lap (one at the end of the long straight in S2 & the other at the last turn). Both the times, he braked too late which hurt his exit. I was able to perform a switcharoo part due to his mistakes & part due to AMG's stability.

The hyundai does eat it's tyres so I think other cars come into play on wear, I will try the beetle. I tried a race in the 296, figuring the excellent turn in would help but man, a second a lap slower than the hyundai, which is crazy. Other big issue is gearing, Hyundai is like a PERFECT match for the track and other competitive cars have compromises.

On Seaside, anyone else notice how much easier the COD is now. Honestly it is so much better, you can still gain or lose a lot of time by taking it right or wrong but it is far harder to totally destroy your race. I am not sure why this is the case but it has made the track far, far more enjoyable. In saying that, the kerbs are absolute ice, just totally trecherous, avoid at all costs. I lost it on ENTRANCE to the esses as i took too much kerb, never ever lost it there before.

It's the wrong formulae, and TBH GT3 or Group3 is wrong too. Even modern dinosaur V8 Supercars are too buttoned down. Bathurst works when you need to take enough downforce off the car to be quick on the two long straights but then it makes the middle section really sketchy, that's the challenge and that's where you get passing into Griffiths and the Chase. These cars are too buttoned down.
