I managed to improve by 3/10ths at Trial Mountain, not alien pace but about 360th so very decent.

I have uploaded a split screen replay of both VR and Bumpercam side by side (it’s not massively perceptible but the sync difference is about 2/10ths as I did it on my phone)

I can share the in game replay if anyone wants a slower ghost to follow.

The replay is a bit tricky as I am stressed and on used rubber but yeah you're right regardless.

I swear by @Gurzu ‘s qualifying tips from a few months ago, use a top 10 ghost at 0.5 away you so much of what they do, never fails to get me some extra time, might help you out last corner?

Why don’t you try getting used to no TC? It might be hampering your acceleration

I echo this although I use the ghost closer now and reset sectors, the reason I use the ghost a little closer, .2 is two fold

1. It’s extremely good practice for racing to not hit the ghost and be close to them, because in race they won’t be ghosts!

2. It helps me look through corners while still making sure I’m keeping up and not catching them in corners.

A tip for those that use ghosts, the aim is not to beat them, it’s to find a flow/rythym where you sort of keep pace with them, if you aren’t an alien and you are getting ahead of the ghost there is a more fundamental thing to look at.

Bear in mind the top 10 ghosts are usually a second or 2 faster for a reason and if you can catch them with an offset ahead either you are an alien or your not gonna match the pace through out the lap.

Ghosts aren’t targets they are there as fast safety cars, keep up and don’t get a head and you times will drop.

I rather suggest 0.1 sec delay from ghost usually. 0.5 is lil too much. 😉
Starting from 0 to get the idea on how to launch the lap from last corner and learn sector 1, then 0.1 to get in "touch" with the alien for the entire lap, then 0.2 to shave those last few tenths (there's always few corners where I find my self slightly faster than the ghost I'm following). I never use reset, cause it helps me to improve better and faster in the last sector, where the alien is lil farest. So in "the right lap" I know that I'm improving cause I'm catching up with the guy in the last few corners.
Edit: The use of TC is, for me, depending on the level of tyre saving I need for the race and a sort of life insurance when using a snappy car that likes to spin on kerbs.

@NevilleNobody 100% this. Race B this week is a great example. I use the Citroen with +5 BB. You put your foot to the floor at the apex, and the tire spins rotates you for a perfect exit.

TC is great for people learning the game, but it's always going to slow you down. Even IRL, TC in racing must allow for a certain amount of wheelspin, otherwise you lose time.

Interlagos races are always weirdly processional, very hard to make up time from the rolling start
I think there's just too much grip in Gr4, especially with the mediums, so driving errors are rare. Red Bull Ring was boring last week, a close 'racing' procession with no strategy to spice it up a little bit.

I'm enjoying Trial Mountain - a track I usually avoid, but it's becoming quite enjoyable now.

A highlight of my great daily race C the other day at the Mountain, was a very fun, engaging race and managed to achieve a podium at 1st!! top notch!!!

Mate I tried watchin g it but man, the music is so distracting. In saying that, the quality of the video is amazing, i swear I am doing something wrong as mine always looks so flat, yours has proper colour and contrast.

@Gurzu described it perfectly. I saw it in your video, how at least 3 cars were way too fast and stayed outside (oy

Thanks for writing your bb and set up, cause i like to switch cars till i find one that feels good, and knowing a tendency how to set it up is a real help.

I still try to make the gen x work on trial mountain. But I just can't get into a"flow * i am driving like it is a one of those learning the track test. I only think till the apex or sometimes i caught myself, thinking of something completely different. But it's only there, interlagos is fine.
By the the way, the SlS amg gr4 is about 6kmh or 4 miles /h slower than the mazda3 gr4.. It's a bit odd cause my Sls sounded Like a mad polar bear, whilethe mazda fitted in my engine compartment or even the glove box and was not to be heard.

I was always driving bumper cam, but I learned to use chasing cam, because the friends i used to race on split screen, were always making jokes, how they picture me, strapped to the bonnet.. The last time i saw one of them is at least 5 years ago, but i am still at chasing cam.

Hi everyone. Didn't do a lot of racing these last months, because I was a bit tired of poor driving standards and I wanted to complete another game (Baldur's Gate 3).

I took a liking to the Youtube channel of Luc Nodaro. Really great information about trying to be calm and develop race craft. With some of his video's under my belt, I decided for some Trial Mountain action yesterday and this morning.

My pace wasn't on par with mid DR B lobbies. I recently stopped using some driver's assistance (apart from abs and sometimes tcs 1) and I'm still rediscovering how to drive. I was 20 - 50 seconds behind the leader, and quickly dropped to DR C. This matched my pace a lot better.

Luc Nodaro's tips are working for me I think. Don't go for every possibility, but only overtake if you're sure you can pull it off. Be patient otherwise and make friends along the way. It's still irritating to see not everyone works this way though. Sometimes you just can't help being in the middle of a group of cars (for example in lap 1). If I'm being patient and a gentleman, someone behind me just puts a nose in at an high risk place, or just bluntly punts me off. No one waits up after they run you off track, that's too bad.

I did 8 races. 5 of them I was P12 or worse because people punted me off. I also had a P7 and a P8 finish. My best race was a P2 finish (from P6 start) when something happened behind me that caused a little 2~3 seconds gap. I was on P2 and kept bumpdrafting P1 and together we fled the pack and had a lovely race. He drove quite erratically (extreme oversteer snaps in many corners) so I was waiting for an almost inevitable mistake, but he constantly saved it and kept P1. Still a very, very nice race where I was super happy with P2 and was in the flow state. I hope I can experience this type of racing more, but you can't always rule out ambitious divebombers ofcourse.

Thanks neville appreciate the feedback, i will turn off the music next time, I have yet to adopt commentary too maybe that might be worthwhile in doing? voiceover maybe?

I be more than happy to discuss my edits, video encoding and prep for YT over dms if need be, should you need help?
