General question: we still don't have to worry about oil/motor in Boped online races, right?
Nope, BOP overrides tunning oil etc.
Despite knowing that, Im still changing my oil at the start of each session

It is like checking the knob of your door when you are going out of your home even knowing that you properly locked the door.

Gotta say, this is a thoroughly garbage experience! Gonna settle in and watch a few videos you guys made of race A.
Race A is like visiting hell & coming back out in tears. I'm happy CGV has come but this isn't an apt race to welcome the track.

Mostly sticking with Race B & C.

Depends, are you getting answers from the people who are convinced clean oil/new motor does nothing or are you getting answers from the people who are convinced that changing oil/changing motor has noticeable impact?

Personally I'm convinced it does and nobody can argue me out of that position. I'm sure someone else will come along shortly who says completely the opposite of me :D

:D

In this case i have to watch more of Tidgneys videos again. The only one i would trust with that. Well, and Famine.

I believe it does for two objective reasons with a bonus 3rd.

1. It’s in the game specifically to model certain engines performance characteristics, specifically revving and power performance that isn’t tied to weight or BHP

2. Bop only levels weight and power, it’s a sledgehammer approach that has to compete with the other systems. No hubris or ego, I can run at a consistent enough pace to feel and see the difference in my lap times

Bonus 3rd point:

When we are losing seconds to the top guys it’s not oil it’s ability, for them they can easily drive round the 1/10th here or there be see it more clearly as we aren’t even hitting their marks as clearly.

Summary:

I think it makes a negligible difference and that fast guys are just fast, it’s also a bit black box so we will never know but we can notice these things, I notice when I should go check my oil because it doesn’t “feel” right and in a game if something feels off it’s because of impact mentally or mechanically

Had a decent Daily Race C at Fuji, was good fun battling with the 296 GT3, but the 458 is still a very hefty Meta car and the Citreon for sum reason also! One dodgy german driver was pusshing, shoving and bumping past in a white AMG GT3 but he got his karma in the end!!

Might try the F-type Jag next!! In this, Managed a solid 5th place starting from the back of the grid.

Apart from the both of the Ferrari cars, I prefer F-Type. You'll be surprised how much fun this car is, not to mention speedy on the straights with good acceleration. Calster 25 summed this car well saying it's an underrated car.

I'll try the Citroen as well today.

P.S. - Any of the daily races can be fun or not depending on the drivers present on the grid. One dirty driver is enough to spoil the entire race. I find it surprising some users pay subscription fee for being dirty!

Whether it’s impacted or not isn’t an opinion. It’s objective fact. Anyone who thinks they need to be argued into accepting a fact is just admitting they’re willing to deny reality.

Do the experiment, and accept the results. It’s not that hard.

I have a hard time with consistency in the racing line and the amount of braking in Fuji's last turn. It's so hard to brake consistently on a controller when you don't need 100 % braking.

I am braking 50-ish % from the moment the red barrier on the right leaves my screen, and I am taking quite a wide line (maybe a car's width from the kerbs). In some cases I go way too wide because my speed is still too high, in other cases I end up way too narrow so I'm having a very poor exit. Maybe once a race I nail the corner by pure chance. Taking a corner from the outside extremes of the track is clear to me, but that's not the quickest way in this particular corner. So my place on track during corner entry also varies a bit every time.

I have been looking at top time replays and some telemetry, but it's not so easy for me to copy it every corner. Maybe it's just a matter of keeping at it, until I am braking and cornering at the same speed and place every time.

On Tuesday I did 4 races: a P7, P8 and P9 finish despite several spins or punts in all of these races. One race I switched from hard tires to hard tires :banghead: and ended up last.

This is exactly what I did for Race A, few races on alt account. I just wanted to try this combo, because I like SF cars, but on this track is total chaos...
People parking on apexes, crashing each other in front of you that you can't avoid them and you getting penalty for contact(!!!),
people forgetting that there are breaks in the car and sending you far far away... geez... SR straight from S to C within 5 races... 🤦‍♂️😵
And that GT7 collision physics...
Maybe if cars had proper damage, like wheels falling off, people would be less aggressive.

Keep at it dude you will master soon, the best way I mastered it before Calsters video posted in this thread is use the Circuit exprience to master that last corner, at Fuji. I was the same like you for a long time on Fuji, fudging up that corner, but the way I mastered is with the Slow-in > Fast out principle. Use the controller trigeer wiht gradual brake control and always adjust the balance of brakes. I managed this when we had a NSX GT2 TT at Fuji a while back, and noticed I got faster every time I exited that corner and applied it to other cars liek GT3 gorup cars.

Now when I do it, I am much quicker in GT3 cars, I can fumble it sometimes if I get bumped by another driver or my entry speed is too fast. But now we have the Data logger you can analyse your laps and really nitpick the details on your entry and exit speeds. I defo recommened Calsters video as he is so quick on a controller and his guides very useful.

I thought it was a bit odd that there's was no BoP update with Spec 3, but they've done it now in the bug fix 1.66 patch. Mostly weight drops for the Gr3s.
