@Barareklam Your question doesn’t really concern me, but I’d like to understand it.

Do you consider someone an “Alien” when they’ve entered the Top 100 once?
Or only if they’ve done it multiple times, or even since the beginning of the game?

Well we ( @half_sourly) are tracking TT statistic and people from this thread participate and who manage to get top 100 position gets an Alien badge. But I can share my personal opinion who I consider Alien, ( posted this already on this thread but can't dig out old post, so here it comes again) , so there are lap times and many can be really good, but then there's a group of people that are just noticable having faster times out of reach for most people, that can be first 5 or 10 or 20 or whatever, but most of people that regularly place in top 100 just can't get closer to those times / people... I call those aliens 😊

Barareklam
@half_sourly one question but if it will take you more than 5 minutes of clicking then ignore my question.. How many people managed to get Alien status ? So all TTs together, first 100 positions, Unique PSN. (those who Placed top 100 more than once, should just count as 1 Alien :) ) ( wild guess 2500 people? am I near?) wonder what other people would guess?

Not directed at me, and not a definitive answer because I only have stats up to TT197 for previously discussed reasons. My best guess is:
GT7=# with alien_count as (select distinct(uuid) from evt_results where psn_result<101) select count(*) from alien_count;
count
-------
3717

Always glad to muddy the waters.:)

Ok thanks, I understand better now, personally the top 30 people are out of reach for me, I'd even say top 45.

Once I managed to place top 32 with the Citroën GT and I don't think I'm mistaken, top 36 at the Nürburgring with the Swift.

There's a glass ceiling I can't break through no matter how many hours I put into it — around 1500 km on the Swift and about 800 on the GT.

For the script below I get 3720. I'm calling that close enough.

SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT drivers_name_URL) AS entrant_count

FROM TTResults t

WHERE TTNo BETWEEN 1 AND 197

AND rank <= 100;

All this talk of alien badges....

All I want is my very first one, that's all. I've been close twice.... At Panorama and Dragon Trail seaside...

I think this is the closest I've ever been in terms of place with less than 24 hours to go, not sure it'll stick but all fingers and toes are crossed....

I want that badge 😭😭😭😭😭

This isn't true is it? I don't see how it could be.

I used to think this could be true for BOP events if you have worn parts on your garage car but apparently it's not according to the research others have done on Google - although personally I'm not convinced. Maybe that's a placebo effect where I've immediately gone a couple of tenths faster after changing oil but maybe changing oil in game also refreshes my brain juice in real life 🤣

100% true.
You can actually experiment with it now. The Mangusta at Monza will do it. Use your car, go put wide offset, wide wheel, and 19 inch tires on it. Go TRY to run a lap. The car is damn near undrivable.

Yeah my bad, I forgot that BOP doesn't affect the wheel size/setting I was purely thinking about car stats

Same was true on the 911 event we just finished at the 'Ring. Car was very different on the std wheel size and offset

You mean more undriveable.

It already kinda just...does whatever it wants in stock, rental, version

Well, I have to leave for a beer pairing in about five minutes, and have to get up an hour earlier than usual for work tomorrow, so an afternoon session was in order, albeit a truncated one compared to how long I normally end up running.

Car was not really behaving in the first session, so I exited out of the TT fully and re-entered and it was far more agreeable. I feel like conditions change, honestly... @Manimal and myself have discussed this before with the Alfa where it changed drastically between sessions.

Or maybe it was just that the green car didn't like me but the orange one did?

But anyway, finally got down into the 2:04s with a .891, and with no additional time to really go at it, that's where I'll leave it!

Wanted maybe another tenth, but I just don't have the time tonight. Oh well - hopefully the 90th place holds!

Greetings from Foggia. 🇮🇹

The second TT I’ve done while away from home on holiday (the first was Valkyrie at RBR almost three years ago). Conditions not optimal. Back in the fairly uncomfortable and hard chair, on a different smaller TV than I’m used to at home and quite warm (note the fan in the bottom right of the photo). In fact, worse this time around as I had to use PS4, the PS5 in this house moved out along with the guy who owned it. Having played GT7 on PS4 and PS5 and then going back to PS4 after some years it’s evident how this game never should’ve been released on it. Visuals are clearly worse and it’s very slow, stuttery and laggy. A conversation for a different thread though.

All that said, initially not really getting along with the Mangusta but with some time we got on better terms with each other. In fact, Monza as a track and della Roggia was mostly the issue, less so the car.

I eventually got a first serious good lap in with a 2’04.369 which put me 19th. Relief! Could’ve been happy to end it there but had a ~250 just barely invalidated the lap prior. Pace was there for a little bit more so pretty chilled out (but not mentally entirely checked out, which happens sometimes) I kept driving and amazingly made it through della Roggia, Lesmo II and Ascari pretty smoothly, knew I was close enough to Tápai for it to be an improvement. Just gotta carry it home through Parabolica... Somewhat sketchy I don’t quite manage to hug the inside as desired but it could’ve also been way worse, over the line we go at .199, putting me in P11. I’ll say that was beyond expectations given the temporary questionable setup!

I definitely think the Mangusta benefited experienced pad drivers since you can rip the wheel from left to right much faster than those of us on the wheel (well, those of us on wheels where we can't adjust the steering angle in-game  )

My brother was here today for the beer pairing, so he got to watch me absolutely ripping the wheel back and forth, and agreed with me as I wondered aloud just what CSA was doing.

Hey, fellas. Long time, no post!

I actually put in some real effort for a TT for the first time in months. Usually I've only been making two or three attempts when I enter a trial. But I felt like a top 100 might be in reach with this combo, so I put in some extra miles last night. I jacked up the second chicane and was very careful not to overshoot Parabolica, so braked probably a bit too early. Still happy with the result. :D

Managed to grab a bit more on Laguna. Seeing small improvements and have the sector times to hit a .3xx
Still amazed with the 1:19 laps that are being put down. Going to keep making laps here since I refuse to pilot that freaking kart. 😵

Morning TT fans,

i had another session at Laguna Seca yesterday. Made a little progess:
Gran Turismo™ 7_20260603175308.webp

In this new fastest lap i was too late on the brakes for turn 1, went wide and lost more than 2 tenths! New optimal was a 1:20,964.
At least this motivates me to keep on chasing that 1:20!

Update. Couldn't sleep. Checked the GT7 website and saw I was 99th(!) and couldn't let this go so I am risking all day tiredness for this lol.

Much happier now..... Literally so excited and need the next hour to be done with ASAP!!!! 😂😂😍😍

I couldn't sleep either 😴.
I suddenly woke up because I dreamed that half_sourly was only giving out the alien badge to the first 70 finishers now. Obviously a kind of update as well.
OMG. I'm so sorry 🙄

That's okay... Challenge accepted... Made it into the top 50 now just in case he changes the rules again 🤣

I was watching the video guide with Tidgney's kart and I saw that he has the force feedback set to 2 and the sensitivity to 2.

I also like the low force feedback setting, but I don't understand why the sensitivity is so low. Watching his other videos, I noticed he always drives like that.

I thought there would be more feedback with the sensitivity set to 10.

Do you also use the sensitivity like that?

I do similar (keep both low in-game), and if sensitivity needs to be adjusted, I do it on my wheel.

Well Thrustmaster recommends sensitivity set to 1 for its DD T598 wheel, guess it's also a recommended settings for fanatec or logitech DD wheels too ?

Okay, thanks guys.

I once tried matching Digit settings, he always had the sensitivity at 10.

With the kart, what's the steering angle on your wheel ?

With my DD Pro it was impossible to drive on auto, it was way too sensitive, I had to lower it to around 700° to get anything usable.

I've only done one session on the kart last week, but think I took it down to 600°.

I literally didn't adjust a single setting to better suit the kart, and I managed to set quite a solid laptime.

My DD Pro 8Nm default settings are
Sensitivity 4
FFB 5
FFB Sens 10

On the wheel the angle is auto, and other settings are copied from Sammy that he explained in his video, I also think he "stole" it from Wind, so I guess if the settings are good for those guys, they are good for me too.
