The TT was tougher than I expected, at least for me. I've only tried the Porsche so maybe next week I'll go at it again.

Tried the Porsche at LeMans, nice car to drive, much better than the previous gen cars that have so much understeer.

However, I cannot fathom how you guys get any joy from LeMans. Most corners are blind with really hard to see apexes, chicanes galore and the smallest brake markers ever. That's my biggest gripe, I can't find any brake markers, every braking zome at 300kmh plus looks identical to me, i cannot find brake markers to save my dang life.

Then you get to the end of the track, more blind apexes and the worst double chicane fiddlefest ever. Garbage.

Christ that Porsche hypercar has absurd levels of understeer...except when it snap oversteers and ruins your lap. Either way: your lap is being ruined.

I barely managed a 3:26.830 after 164 miles of mostly invalid laps. I'm sure I can improve, but it's a really unpleasant combo...again. Sigh.

And a note on those invalid laps: this is a massive waste of my time when an invalid lap means up to ~3 more minutes until the next one. Not as bad as Nürburgring, but still a problem.
 
I’m not that good with high downforce cars. I get totally intimidated and confused on which corners where speed allows you to turn faster and which corners you have to brake more for, to turn.

This was only about 1/2 hour session so I’ll figure this out, but it’ll take some goes.

I did 5 laps with the Porsche in LeMans. After that i wished the Laguna Seca TT would remain for another 2 weeks instead of this!

In VR the sight is very limited! It's like looking through a postbox slot! I can't even see the lap time from the HUD.

Where to break with this car is my biggest issue so far. Making this a safe gold will be much harder than the recent TTs in Laguna Seca or CGV!

Maybe try to watch Tidgney's guide as he done a good lap or Calsters video on the tube, they explain good braking points to nail the track down. I love Le-mans personally but prefer it without the chicanes to hit that top speed hehe.

I only find the last chicane a pain as you gotta hit them right due to the raised kerbs. All of the new hypaaacars have enough grip to barrel thru the esses on the last few but be careful on the porsche and ford corners before them.

Others have/will chime in on brake markers; I wanted to help on the VR/Cabin thing.

  • The Wheel is Your Friend. The readout on the wheel tracks laps, lap time and your delta as well as gear, etc. This means you can go with little or no HUD; I go with zero HUD in this time trial because I love both the immersion and I have GT Race Engineer running off my phone.
  • You can Adjust Your Position. To do this, click on the passthrough button on the PSVR2 while you are in the car. While you're still able to see your surroundings, set your head back against your seat. As your head is still back click the passthrough button. Now adjust your head to your normal position and you'll now be farther forward in the car. You can do the opposite (move your head forward instead of backward) if you want to move your view in the opposite direction.

I hope this helps. It did for me #BMW

I always watch his guides but he works off of random trees etc and my eye line is lower. The issue is the tiny, tiny little brake markers, they're so hard to see. Biggest issue is I simply cannot remember the track, it's like a new north american suburb, every corner looks the same on approach, i don't know where I am. Then those stupid chicanes at the end, just awful. I could live with the first one but the second one is just hateful.

I know i can see the time and delta on the wheel. I just wanted to express how small the angle of view is.

I love driving without HUD as well, just doing the 24H at Nordschleife - it's so cool in the night!

I think i'll give "GT Race Engineer" a go. Thanks fot the hint!

YOU OWE ME A NEW MONITOR mine is now covered in Coca-Cola.

There are a few markers that I use which may help, but I stress these work for me.
  • Big Yellow House. On the Mulsanne straight, there's a big, yellow building on the left hand side. That tells me the first chicken is coming on the right. The 200+ signs start soon afterward.
  • Banner at the End. Towards the end of the straight, that big banner lets me know the end is neigh.
  • Sign on the Left. This one may not be so helpful. After the two gentle rights on the fast section after the straight, I start looking on the left-hand side for the first meter sign. The second one I use to turn in; the hypercars can take that flat out before a monster brake pedal stomp right at the curb. I think that's Indianapolis?
  • Second Gentle Left. On the fast section following Indy, after the second gentle left I know I'm gonna have to brake for the Porsche curves.
  • Porsche Curves. I got nothing. I've just learned them.
  • Ending Chickens. The marker I use before the ending chickens is the pit lane. Brake before, inside or at the end of the pit lane entry (depending on car and feel) to deal with that first chicken. The last chicken is evil - no lies detected.
I hope this can help. While these work for me, they may not for you. However as I'm in VR exclusively (no flat screen attached to my PS5) I understand the need to see markers as you dash around any track.

ran a few laps last night @ LeMans. Chose the new Ferrari as I like the look of it the most of all the new cars. I really like the way it handles, which is surprising because I don't normally like these cars. Still real slow though. I suspect this'll be a silver and done event for me as I'm not a fan of the track at all.

LOL thanks. The amount of times I am driving through those large suburban areas and I dead set have no idea where I am because it all looks thew same. Especially those weird outdoor shopping complexes, so you need to drive from one to the other right, no walking, huge areas, dead set I get lost in em.

PD: Good thinking Porsche, you get to be top tier (again)

Toyota: ... Usually, the oldest car is BoPed into oblivion to showcase the newer stuff

Has anyone experienced anything different and unusual using a leaderboard ghost. Ive tried a few TTs past couple weeks and something has changed for me. Ghost aren't consistently visible. They disappear for large periods of time. Is this a new known issue or have I messed up settings somewhere?

I absolutely love this track... Shame the World Tour drivers do too. There's more to come from me but it's going to be another uphill battle like the previous time trials here. Happily, the 963 doesn't have a crap front end which drags like the R92CP.

I’ve experienced this as well. Ghost disappears for maybe a half second, then reappears. It seems random for me, occurring maybe a few times per hour of driving. I’d guess it’s a bug/issue. Ghosts can be disabled using d-pad up, but the issue I’m referring to is when the ghost just disappears for a split second for no reason, then reappears.

Using ghosts was never glitchy before.

Yep - this is what I've been experiencing. But I have for quite some time now.

I have spent the last two years stubbornly choosing the Peugeot in LMU, the struggle never stopped me then and it won't stop me now!

I haven't done a TT in over a year, but my beloved PeuGOAT is calling me. I don't care if it's slow, I'll just have to hustle more. Also means that when I'm inevitably unable to succeed I can blame the car, a devilish plan indeed. I call it: Mission Alonso.

In my last TT I was in the top 100, in this TT I still haven't gotten a gold time after two days... Probably doesn't help that for the last three months my sim setup has been covered in boxes and whatever else I impulsively put on top of the boxes, which then became a subconscious barrier and I just kinda... Became overwhelmed by the idea of moving the mess and before I knew it GT7 had hypercars.

But alas, my biggest trouble has been getting used to just how much you can push track limits. I've done so many laps of Le Mans in various games, but almost always I'm driving long stints and not absolutely chucking the car over kerbs and it completely transforms how you approach the track. I think the limits are far too lenient, the cut for Tetre Rouge is absolutely wild. But it is what it is, I'm committed now so I must get gold, minimum.

Last night I kind of sucked, felt very rusty but wanted to persevere a bit because the better my time was at the end of the night the less time I have to make up in future. But I could only get a frustrated 3:28.8, I know myself well enough to know if I sleep on it and come back tomorrow I'll be much more relaxed AND faster. And today I was immediately on pace with yesterday on the first lap, but I was just doing a sighting lap, and within five laps got a 3:27.944 with a potential 3:27.5xx for the session.

My biggest issue is braking slightly too late for the opening chicane and first Mulsanne chicane, seems that pushing the car is not the answer and nailing your lines is key. I'll often miss the first apex and it will haunt me all the way through the sequence and down the next straight. I also have a bad habit of trail braking into Mulsanne corner and Indianapolis, turns out it just kills turn-in. But with this in mind, I'm confident I can get gold... But that will have to wait till after the actual big race.
 
More players struggling with the Sarthe challenge than I was expecting - personally I'm absolutely loving these new cars, which is weird 'cause I'm normally 'anti-racing cars' preferring to dash about in road cars. But there's something about the timing of this update, the number of cars to try out and the brilliance of them all in PSVR2 that just ticks every box for me.
A superb update imo and one which has opened my eyes on an aspect of GT I've never enjoyed. Bravo PD!!
